[Spec] Possible Important Dates

Okay I'm going to touch on a theme around certain dates that I feel haven't been properly covered.

Summer solstice occured today (June 21), just about an hour ago from this post. Less than a day ago, the server opened.

Next date: the equinox, September 23rd. Two days away from the Halo3 release date.

This leads to speculation of possible reward, which would be an early release or playtime of the game, or something else that gets released via xbox live.

I believe that the solistice and equinox theme will have an impact on the overall arg. I support this through the SOTA website, where there are numerous references to stonehedge, which was used as a crude calendar and uses the solstice an equinox frequently.

Also, from previous posts, keep a heads up on july 1st and 5th, which are both numbers (REF070107, REF#070507) referenced in the staph bacteria slide.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

S

Excellent thinking. The timing looks right for the climax of the game to be on the equinox.

I'll post one idea that I don't think panned out; solar and lunar eclipses were significant to ancient astronomers, but there are only two in the probable game period (from now until game release):

2007 August 28 - total lunar eclipse
2007 September 11 - partial solar eclipse

I was hoping that one of these dates would match with the slide dates, but no Cosmic Coincidence here.

That is not dead which may eternal lie o'er such strange eons e'en Death may die...

If nothing happens on July 7th, they are really dropping the ball here.

Heh, D is right. I'd be surprised if they didn't throw some kind of insane Bungie party that day. For us as well as themselves.

one more thing...

so i got suckered into registering...

one more thing since i'm looking into stonehenge... and this one is more of a stretch.

Someone with good photoshop skills needs to compare the layout of stonehenge (vertical) with some of the symbols given to us.

this is the best one i could find so far (there's a bigger version of it, i did not want to make it too large for the forums.

Well... that being said Stonehenge was said to be set up as sort of a Lunar calendar/ Solstace/Equinox dectector. Could the symbols be a calendar of some sorts?

popssable date for application
lunar reasearch and new hunting

yeah I managed to find a like to: http://www.societyoftheancients.com/sota_images/SOTA_membership.pdf
from a news site I looked at the bottom of the form and it says:

"*Membership reviews usually happen on the first day of the new lunar cycle."

according to lunar republic the start next lunar cycle is June 30 with the new moon, if I'm correct.

hope this helps.

The way it's worded make me think that applications that have already been submitted are reviewed, meaning that we'd have to get in applications before that time to get in before the next lunar cycle. There's still plenty of time left for that email to start working though. Who knows, maybe we'll all be going to a SOTA rally in the next few weeks Razz

Perhaps we should draft up some applications/resumes to send to their HQ if we can find where it is.

Another important date: September 23, 2552 - MC blows up Alpha Halo and the rip in space and time to allow the chief to get the artifact on Reach occurs.

Ok Chilluns, if this application is to be believed, they'll be "reviewed" July 14th, the start of the next Lunar Cycle according to my resources. So let's turn 'em in, see what happens.

Back to the timing thing, I personally think that July 1st or 5th is when the next server will unlock. But if they want to end in late September and they unlock a new server every 1-2 weeks, well..we're gonna need more servers. Razz

July 5th

The cell slide showed REF#070507. I would be surprised if this doesn't refer to July 5th, 2007.

It's been done multiple times and you're intuition is right, it matches up quite well. Of course, plenty of Forerunner glyphs will, considering they are all circular. Wink

Bungie is obessed with the number 7. On Zanzibar on 7/7 the signs change to a missing dog sign. Anyway, 07/07/07... Bungie HAS to do something.

people have been assuming that they have to turn in their app's before this date, but I think that it's the other way around. i think that the application process will open up on this date and the e-mail that we need to submit this app will unlock
