[TRAILHEAD] Sammeeeees Sequel

The other day someone noticed that Peeps had updated his profile picture on his MySpace (to his real picture). He also left a blog.

Quote:

I am clearing out my backyard for a new garden.
Current mood: creative

I'm sure there won't be anything really going on in my garden until mid summer, but I'm having a great time prepping and planting. As soon as my garden is ready, I will have a party to celebrate. Maybe I will invite some old friends and have a reunion. I look forward to warm summer days.

my new avatar is a painting by this cool artist named Luci Gorell Barnes. this painting really says so much about where i am these days... "missing you". happy birthday to me.

Happy left some comments on Betty's page.

Happy Birthday, girlfriend! Great to hear that you finally made the big move! Peeps, I mean Thomas -- ha! Can't get used to calling him that! Oh well. Thomas has moved to Lubec, Maine. Trust me, I have never heard of it either. Hope you're okay. Please message me. I want to see you now that we're neighbors. (sort of) LOL! Smile I am still Happy!

Last night there were some emails exchanged.

Yeah, it was his change in the profile picture that caused me to click on it and noticed his new blog post. And on his friends it showed Betty had changed HER profile & layout - with a new blog post as well. So I figured I would click around and send some greetings to my old Sammeeeees.

So, what do you think is the significance of the socks on Peep's layout?

Oh, I don't want to alarm you, and I didn't say anything to Thomas, but MrAlan Johnson (or someone with access to his MySpace) logged in and changed the profile as well. Do you think it could be Cathy/Patricia????? (I'm still not sure how I should address her).

Might as well stick to "kona". That's what my other online friends call me.

Happy wrote:
Apr 17, 2007 8:14 PM I hadn't thought about Peeps' socks. Hmmm. I'm going to go back and look at them. Why would he have socks on his page? And I'm definitely checking out Mr. Johnson's page! I can't imagine why Cathy or Patricia (I'm not sure what to call her either) would change his page, but she's the only person alive that would have access that I can think of. I haven't heard from her or Dwin since Christmas. I'm going to snoop around.
I'm still Happy!

She must have gone to Mr Alan Johnson's MySpace page this morning. Cause she left this comment:

Happy wrote:

My name is Happy Rogers, and although I was not considered a "friend" of Mr. Alan Johnson's, we did have a relationship. Since we all know that he passed away back in December of 2006, I'm a little confused as to who, why, and how this page is suddenly being updated. Is it you, Cathy Kuttner? Please contact me soon.
I'm still Happy.

Then today Happy left this comment on Betty's page:

Quote:
READ MY COMMENTS! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Going to Happy's MySpace page is found this:

Please allow me to deliver this "friendly" suggestion - turn around and walk away. This is nothing that you should ever attempt to mull over in your darling, yet simple, little tin covered mind. Do not bother yourself with any further inquiries. From this day forward, there will be no other correspondence.

Have a happy life, Happy Rogers.
Cheers to you, your sister, and your Sammeeeee pals!!!!!

Even though he is presumed to have died last fall, someone has logged into Mr Alan Johnson's MySpace, changed the profile picture and the music, and posted a new blog (all the old ones are gone).

Yes, I see the date is from last year....some weird quirk of MySpace or something he was able to change? This was NOT here a month ago.

Higgs logged in but nothing changed nor posted on his page. Dwin & Addison last logged in on 4/9/07. Trinket was last logged in 1/11/07.

I've heard so many good things about Sammeeeees, and I truely regret having come too late to the ARG community to have played it. I hope that, if this is indeed a sequel, there will be a way for the uninitiated to learn the story of the original game so that we could participate in this one, as well.

And now, this, a comment on Happy's MySpace.

let it go, happy. i have no idea who wrote that to you, but we know it can't be johnson. someone is screwing with you. just walk away and i'm sure it will stop. i'm headed to ojai for a month or so for an intensive therapy retreat. we will catch up when i return.
say hi to ben and jayne for me.

I feel the same way as you, Rekidk. I lurked the end of sammeeeees, but I came in too late to catch up (the same way I lurked the end of geist ><) Still - if this is indeed a sequel, i'm not going to miss it the second time around.

Onwards - Alan Johnson was on our side back when he was alive, right? Was he always this schioid? - The majority of his comment is rather cold and nasty, and then he chimes in with "Cheers to you, your sister, and your Sammeeeee pals!!!!!".

Mr Alan Johnson was an evil man. He tried to recruit us to find Peeps (seems Peeps stole something of value needed to keep the Power of Spoocheeeee in Mr AJ's grasp).

In the end, we Sammeeeees gathered all the disc pieces (and the snake from Peeps), the reversal ceremony was performed, and the power of Spoocheeeee was broken.

Also turned out that Mr AJ was Peep's brother. Then Cathy/Patricia killed Mr AJ to keep him from kidnapping Dwin (her foster son) and turning him into a Spoocheeeee jackal (slave). At least, that is what we were led to believe from the phone recording during the incident.

The "Story So Far" thread is linked in my signature where it asks "r u a Sammeeeee?" That will bring you up to speed on what happened, how it happened, all the puzzles we did (some site links may or may not still be available) but we tried to archive all.

Yes, we understand that Mr. Alan Johnson is dead, but there was still the question of Mr. Abbott - Johnson's "boss" - or at least his "controller" from the Spoocheeeee Elders - and Tutu was still missing at the end - maybe we can find her Smile

Hello Jas0n. This your new hang out? ILB2 is picking up again so you may want to check it out.

From the looks of things, This might be an interesting ARG to ask permission to join.

I've read the details on the previos game on wikipedia and it looked like ya'll have a time. Mind if I have a go?

Kona,

I had to drop out of Sammeeeees prematurely due to the work on MHC.... so I'm not sure if I have this right or not (and I'm too damn lazy to dig for the answer) ...but wasn't "Mr. Alan Johnson" a position as well as a person? One that was kind of perpetual in nature? Could it be a new Mr Alan Johnson?

Same here...another relative newbie who is hoping that this turns into a sequel. I've heard Sammeeeee mentioned once or twice, but never really looked into it until this morning. Wow...this looks like *everything* an ARG should be!
I'm having a hard time finding one that either keeps me enthralled or that I feel connected to because of an invitation or something.
I hope this come back.
Question: for the first Sammeeeee, did players pretty much need their own MySpace? For some reason, MySpace annoys me and I've never felt the need to create a profile there, but if it would make it easier for ARGs, I suppose I should.

I think Caterpillar might be on to something. Maybe Spoocheeeee is trying to reorganize?

Oh let's see if we can come up with a nutshell version...

Spoocheeeee (the bad guys) was begun in ancient Rome through a ritual involving a disc. Later (modern times) Spoocheeeee hid behind the corporate structure of Otis Elevator. Spoocheeeee had a group of elders and a lead "director" position of Mr. Alan Johnson. No matter the person's name was before taking the position of Mr. Alan Johnson, it became the same as the posotion (so yes, Catepillar, it is both a person & a position).

Spoocheeeee should have no more power, as the ritual that originally gave them power has been reversed by Kona. Of course that might not stop an evil group from trying to create their own power, it just would not be something that was from a paranormal/magical realm, it would be only human power.

My only problem with Sammeeeees was that it played faster than the Movie Guessing Game! You really had to camp out to keep up. I hope this iteration will run at less than 'drink from firehose' pace!

Rolerbe, I don't know why you would say it ran fast, it was an 8 week game with updates usually on Tuesday & Thursday (game night with Mr. Alan Johnson) While there was a lot of character interaction in between, there were many times us players were wishing things would speed up a little.

As a player, I can only say that maybe the immersion was so very well done that we as players never saw it as moving fast.

Regarding the MySpace thing. Most of the time you can see the profiles without having a MySpace account. The only limitation there was when it was used for character interaction. Flickr and traditional email was also utilized.

I created a MySpace account just for this game but don't both that much with it - it's there for ARGing pretty much.

Those of us with MySpace accounts always happily bring that information here to uF so you don't even have to click on the link; you'll see all the same info - cause we're good at sharing. The other sites used were blogspots, YouTube and Flickr.

No one has to "sign up" to play. No one has to ask "permission" to play. You just watch, get involved, or somewhere in between.

As for Mr Alan Johnson - a "new" Mr AJ? How would he get the pw to the MySpace? Cathy/Patricia had that. Did Mr Abbott? Is Spoocheeeee trying to regroup without the power from the disc? We'll probably find out more later this summer.

Meanwhile, we'll be keeping our eyes on the profiles and every once-in-awhile I'll scroll through some blogspots.
