Perhaps this is a continuation of an incident that happend a few months ago with an image of a warthog that could be manipulated and as you turned it this message appeared:

X.XX713>ghost713/non-auth. activity ongoing

To me it sounds like this ghost did something wrong and now he is in quarentine.

veins of ice and poison...

does anyone know if there is a source as to what goes into cyro-sleep (or whatever its called) because if anyone remembers the spec (might not have been on this forum, sorry if its not) about the Forerunner that activated the halos going into cyro in a dyson sphere, or something

i can see the veins of ice part easily for this theory, but poison doesnt make as much sense, unless the Forerunner was partially infected by flood and its considered a 'poison' in his vital system

Ok I was looking at the worthog 3d movie thing again and reading through the stats on the page where it's located(see first page for link)
The engine of the worthog is a

"12.0 L liquid-cooled hydrogen-injected ICE"

Could this be the veins of Ice and Poison? that would then make 2 connections to the worthog in this game so far.

Now that would be fun, having a warthog be a character or clue in this game. Imaginative.

I agree. But we're going to name it KITT, not ghost713.

Maybe we should gather all of the ghost713 references together? There appear to be three so far.

Chronologically as they were released:

The Warthog vid
On the back of the H3 Zune.
AR's post

Any more?

YAY!

" Ghost.713 "

I AM SO HAPPY! I knew that would have to do with an ARG eventually!

(Sorry it's a bit off topic =P)

ICE stands for Internal Combustion Engine.

don't stop now!

veins of ice, and ICE, is a good enough connection i personally belive

the veins that run ice and poison......--------> fuel in car engine

ICE----> internal combustion engine, either way you put it, it is connected, maybe a new thread needs to be made to collect and catalog the ghost.713 information that most of you stashed away after it died a slow and painful death so long ago....

damn that is dramatic

"Poverty" is actually quarantine

BigVig209 wrote:

I believe it would be more appropriate to interpret this passage as that of a personality that has dedicated itself to service.

You choose a life of poverty when you become a priest, a monk or a nun. Willing sacrifice for a greater good or higher purpose.

So, he/she/it may not be lacking something but is still not among or not with us.

That is why he/she/it is asking if we will wait.

My thoughts exactly.

The first line is only given meaning by the second one, and gives strength to the idea that his poverty is by no means a financial one.

The third line could mean anything - literal or metaphorical darkness, if it weren't for the fourth line that gives us the idea that the darkness is a metaphorical one.

One of the best lines that ever got me thinking was "There is no such thing as darkness, only an absence of light."

This individual, whoever they may be, is experiencing an absence of whatever their "light" is, presumeably a person, though not necessarily.

All of this leads me to believe that his/her "poverty" was self-imposed... and that the "poverty" itself is actually the quarantine we've seen activated. And it's something that is not only extremely lonely, but seems to be something that is going to last for quite some time.

Is what we're seeing AI? Or an actual human being?

Just some AR SPEC:

The "old life" can be confirmed to be the entity that overtook AR because he is noted to play with time ("I am for another time"), and he is the being who "outranks" AR.

Note the parallel from "life" to the pulse message:

Quote:
Can you feel it?
Beating at the heart of the Universe.
Skin too thick to be sure.
It's alive though.
I'm certain.
What do I do with life?

This can be shown to be the original AR because the following day "Rogue process ghost.713" was quarantined by process x.x5. This is followed by a seeming restatement that "AR has ended."

Why is AR continuing to talk about life? This character that overtook AR... why is he an "old life"? Many people (I think) have spec'ed that the new AR is indeed 343-Guilty Spark because of the "damned spot" and other Macbeth references (a fine spec, to be sure), but it could also be one of the intelligent-class floods (graveminds).

The reason I spec this is because of all the references to life (seeming that AR himself is interfaced with it) and one other thing: the careful choice of "machine" in the statement:

Quote:
He was always better than I.
More powerful.
More intelligent.
A better machine.
He is not who you think he is.
And I do not know his intent.

Wouldn't AI, monitor, or construct be a better term? Apparantly not. He is a MACHINE. Even humans are machines. Another thing that jumps out is "I do not know his intent." WHY NOT, AR? If they're both forerunner technology, there's no reason AR wouldn't perfectly understand 343's intent. However, nobody understands Gravemind's intent. Not even 2401 Penitent Tangent could explain it.

One last thing: Gravemind seems confident after Halo 2 that he knows how to interrogate Cortana. If he has already beaten a forerunner AI, she should be no problem.

I still like the possibilty that there's a Gravemind/Cortana connection, too. A couple of lines I like for this purpose:

"He plays with time even as he hides in its folds"

To go with Gravemind's comment about "I have listened, through rock and metal and time"

"He is not who you think he is"

Suggesting that Gravemind will be coming 'disguised' as Cortana, perhaps?

And then the title of this latest post "Veins of Ice and Poison" ties in to some extent with a description from the third book 'First Strike' of the MC's sensations as he inserts Cortana into his MJOLNIR armor:

"There was a moment of vertigo, and then the familiar mercury-and-ice sensation flooded his skull as Cortana interfaced"

Mercury sure can be deadly poisonous in the right circumstances.

And the whole of the

"I do not require charity or alms
But I did choose poverty
And other darkness too
Will you wait for me?"

post sounds like potentially Cortana to me: (first line) she doesn't need any help, (second line) but she chose to remain behind on High Charity, (third line) and to do [something] with or possibly against Gravemind, (fourth line) pretty much a direct question to the Chief.

Although that is slightly where the theory falls apart as there would have to be a pretty good explanation as to why a message intended for the MC has ended up coming to us instead. You can kind of fudge an explanation, but not from anything that we've actually seen so far in the ARG.

Idea on LPH sequences 53-54

In endocrinology, LPH seems to be a special amino acid, better known as beta-lipotropin. Being 90 amino acids long, scientists seem to refer to specific amino 'residues' on the sequence, as in "39 to 56"

From an online journal http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=387212

"It is concluded that h beta MSH-(5-22) that corresponds to the 18-amino acid peptide h beta LPH-(39-56), flanked by two pairs of basic amino acids within the h beta LPH molecule, is a normal maturation product of proopiomelanocortin in human nonpituitary tissues.

Aside from being able to create 3 types of endorphines, LPH also may have a part in 'steroidogenesis'. I think that's just a big term for all sorts of steroid production in the human body. Here are two wikipedia links you can look at for lipotropin,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipotropin

and steroidogenisis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Steroidogenesis.gif

I'm just adding this to lots of other possibilities- "53LPH54" might mean something totally different, so I think we should keep guessing.
