[UPDATE?] CI reports server 05 may be updated they've reported that the background sound on server 05 now has a clicking, as if the looping background sound has been modified...
and indeed looking at the modification dates of the files, some have been modified just after noon today

Did the glyphs you click for the downloads always have a sound when you moused over them too?

Array_Recorder_Data.txt This file has changed somewhat:
It seems like the standard windows new line ("\r\n") has been replaced with the unix new line ("\n"), meaning notepad won't show the new lines, instead showing a little square to indicate a character it can't show.
Some of the new lines have been removed.
Some of the dots have been replaced with ellipsis characters instead.
I can't see any other differences with the original file at the moment.

I took the sound from the original flash source, before today's change, and subtracted it from the new sound, and cropped it to show exactly what the difference is. It's a very loud, split second staticy blast; I reduced the volume to 50% to see the full shape of the sound wave
I really don't know what to make of this...
I'm also attaching the waveform image of the sound.
It may also very well be that a binary change in the swf file may be causing this sound noise and the waveform itself is irrelevent.

The filesize of the slideref image seems to be smaller.

I had visited the site earlier today and it looked like the rotation speed had increased a lot, but I didn't know about the rest of the stuff. Anyone else notice that?

The sound is somehow stereo-tastic: it sounds like it's coming from on either side of my monitor.
I can't be certain that the position of the sound is related to the orientation of the machine, but it seems likely.
If you let the machine spin freely, the sound seems to play from wherever the "front" (the lit broadsword section) is pointing. I tried holding it in place, and the sound seemed to stop moving, but again, I am not certain. I will go back in a minute and try with headphones on.
The significance of the sound is, however, beyond me.
EDIT: It's not a clicking noise, more like a static pop - this might be compressed audio data. I don't have the technology to stretch the sounds out and see if they mean anything, but it's worth a shot. The static and general deterioration, I think, were not there before either.
The direction the sound comes from is somehow related to the position of the machine, but I wasn't able to figure out exactly how. But if the machine is stationary, the sound is, too.

Breaking up It almost seems like the data contained in the server is breaking up.
The lack of spaces and returns in the text files, the static popping noise.
Perhaps the destruction of AR has begun a deterioration of the servers and we'll see the next one unlocked soon.

Here's where the sound is in the exact center:

Checking it in Windiff shows a number of differences, the most prominent being that the data referring to Streptococcus and to Lowry/univ Ulster has been removed.
I guess that means that data was an accident?
EDIT: A lot of the actual image gibberish seems to have changed too, which kinda makes me think something was inserted, but I can't detect anything.

Maybe the sound is just there to grab our attention on the correct viewing angle of the object? That way we focus on that view of it and see something, whatever the PMs want us to see.

That looks awfully similar to the silhouette on Halo3.com for Server 3. Perhaps that will be the next server that is unlocked.

Ok, other file differences:
* StarImage1.jpg
has not changed one bit
* SlideRef070107.jpg
looks like the original (saved in Photoshop CS2 on a Mac) was re-opened and saved in Windows, datestamped June 22, in order to get rid of all the meta info - significantly, the reference to gettyimages, S.Lowry and the bacteria

Would the transfer from mac to windows explain all the changes to the image data itself?
