Poor Obs. You joined the community just a little late to participate in ArgFest-O-Con 2007 .

That would be very un-Sammeeeee-like. AND, I don't think Konamouse or any of the other Sammeeeees would be very pleased. I'd likely find myself sharing a cell in eternal damnation with Mr. Alan Johnson.

I'm biased towards a city in southern california. It just makes sense, well for now it does. Doing it near SDCC though is a big no no. Hotels sell out fast. Though, it would be a great idea for people to knock out two birds with one stone. And I do think it should rotate coasts and area each year. It's only fair.

the problem is we want to vary the location to give more people a chance to go, easily. This year's was in San Francisco... last year a smaller social one was in Chicago, and before that NYC, and I believe before that there was Seattle? or Miami? can't remember...

Are we trying to figure out the secret code based on the past Fest locations?

OK, taking the first letters of each city we get LOVNCS which must be an anagram:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
SOLV NC
Hence, the next argfest will be in Raleigh Durham! It's so obvious!!

I'm not quite sure about the solution of the hidden code. In my opinion it said London or Amsterdam The latter would make a good spot in combination with next years Picnic.
Or let's do it in Leipzig, so we can shift it to August, when the next Games Convention may be happening. Either of that ways will make the first European ARGFest.

The ARGNet Netcast mentioned Boston as a potential location also. Is this true?
I'd be happy to lend a hand from nearby RI.

Ooh, I like Boston as a choice... I have family in the area.
Just make sure it's in the summer sometime...when I'm free...please?

My only original thought about this ARGFest is that we should consider inviting proposals from speakers. There are lots of people who would be amazing speakers on topics that interest us, but not all of them are known to us as ARG PMs.
Inviting proposals might help increase the likelihood that we will find people we might not otherwise find.

They do alot of conventions in Boston. So it isn;t like there aren't places.

It probably shouldn't be on the West Coast. To be fair.
NYC is never a bad place to have a Con, of any type. But I'm biased
I'll throw in for Boston, which I like a lot, despite all the Sox fans.
I'm thinking that somewhere South makes sense based on where the past few Fest-o-Cons have been, either Southeast (Savannah, Atlanta, Florida) or South...middle? (New Orleans, Texas)
New Orleans sounds particularly good to me, since I've never been and it's on my "places to visit before I die" list.
Random thoughts - it should be a major-ish city with cheap-ish, direct flights from most places. If it satisfies these criteria, there will almost certainly be plenty to do as far as sightseeing, etc. goes, and most likely will have semi-reasonable hotel rates, with a little leg- and phone-work.
A good "walking" city, i.e. there are lots of things to do within walking distance of the hotel, is a huge plus. San Francisco and New York were ideal for this. Boston and New Orleans, among others, probably are as well.
To summarize - just decide already, so that rose can make the arrangements
