There *is* an active organization committee (or person), isn't there? People are working on deciding when and where, aren't they? I guess I just sort of took it for granted that we're just waiting for the committee to announce when and where, but I realized that I don't even know if a structure exists to make the decision. So... if there are some folks working on this, could they possibly give us a status on the next ARGFest, even if when-and-where hasn't been decided?

Us guys with Fundi Technologies (Deus City) vote for Dallas ... nice central location ... okay so we're biased Smile

When is all this going down?

Well, if locations are still being thrown... how about Philadelphia (PA!)? There's a convention center here that's pretty nice, affordable hotels right across from it (and expensive ones too, if that's your fancy), and a TON of awesome places to eat!

Seriously, there's this great Italian restaurant down the block from there, and a place called Reading Terminal, with a lot of food inside it. And there are shuttles to the airports, not to mention close access to public transport (which also goes right to the airport; don't worry, it's the NICE trains that go there Smile )

I like the idea of Philidelphia and New Orleans. If you wanted to make it easier for our Canadian friends, maybe Buffalo, NY???

I'd suggest Cleveland, OH. There's plenty of places to hold the convention though and everything is cheap. But you'd run into public transportation problems- unless you suck up to city officials. (I could do that most likely). Cleveland is dieing for some business. They might bend over backwards for a chance at a ton of people coming into the city. They've done it before for other groups.

ok...

So let's say we could get a good rate here...

What would everyone think of say May 16-18 at the Inn on Bourbon Street.

We could probably get some good group discounts, they have nice meeting rooms that can be setup for 12 to 100 people.

Of course it would be on Bourbon street so the need for much transportation wouldn't be that high (other than to and from airport) since most everything there is to do around there is in the french quarter or originates there with tours going out...

Most of the rooms in this hotel have balconies overlooking bourbon street, and they appear to be really nice rooms.

(note: Most of the hotels in this area did not receive much if any damage what-so-ever from the hurricane and from my personal experience the hotels in this area are in very good shape following katrina)

There are several hotels in the area if we can't get everyone in there...

There are several - several eateries within walking distance... I love Jimmy Buffets and promise to eat there one night or another - gotta get the nachos Smile

Also, there's huge possibilities for someone local (RH maybe) to set us up a weekend game that takes us through some of the hotspots - include voodoo shops, ghost tours - etc etc.. dunno /shrug... lol

(not trying to force the issue, just to get the ball rolling and get people thinking - LOL)

P.S. I've got a fellow Saints fan that works at Marriott headquarters who has offered to help if we knew about how many people, rooms, and meeting space (and dates)... I'll save him as a reference for this or if we decide to go somewhere else for ARGfest

I'm the same way, I'm willing to help organize, but I definitely need advance notice before making a trip anywhere. (I've got to steal money from the wife LOL)

Same here, but until some kind of "formal" decision is made, we can't really start anything rolling
