Mind Storm fails at spelling, they spelled "Offcial" wrong.

So... who exactly were the Mezin? I've been looking through their little flash site on Alpha Omega for a few minutes, but half the stuff only pretends to load for me :/

Is this ever explained, or did the fail at that, too?

the thing that bugs me the most about this anticlimactic ending (or possible ending, at least), is that it was an ARG being run by guys who are creating a table top rpg. people who should be able to handle a storyline, you know? and it's kinda sad that we could think of better storyline twists in our deluded pathfinding than they could.

i mean, i'm not angry, and alpha omega seems pretty cool as an rpg ... but how awesome would it be if they incorporated an ARG format into it? i think that's unprecedented, isn't it? it certainly would be a lot of fun.

but instead we just get a website that i haven't even seen yet because i guess the server is overloaded.

it makes me wish they were never connected with cloverfield. that whole thing made it too big. i think the msl people got in over their heads at that point.

i also hope that if they know what's good for 'em they'll keep the storyline going on the internet. Smile

lord illidan: the mezin will probably be revealed in the manaul.. they are referenced in Vans profile on the website

to every one else: I dont think Mindstorm labs wanted this to be an ARG just a mysterious website to build up hype, its the misfortune of it being discovered around the same time as the transformers move hit theaters that made people think it was part of the cloverfield which is an ARG.

True, even in the press release they refer to it as a teaser website...

What has happenend for me so far today:

-I woke up
-I Checked The Eathen Hass website.
-I hit my computer several times with a magnet attached to a crowbar.
-I became angry at the fact that it wasn't going to be my first ARG
-I realized now my computer dosen't work.
-I made this list up that is entirely fake.

Seriously though.... That makes me want to break somthing that isn't valuable.

regardless, the www.ethanhaas.org website is going to turn(in the near future) its ethan haas section into an area to discuss the game, share storylines, characters, maybe even play games. Im really looking forward to this game the more I read about it.

I'm interested in seeing what the game mechanics are. Haven't been able to get to the site myself yet, but from what I've read of others posts here it seems there isn't a lot fleshed out on the site yet.

Well, if that's the case, guess MSL's plan worked.

basically all they reveal on the site is that

the character progression is non linear( you pick and choose abilities as you progress)

the "magic" like system is going to have a loose set of rules allowing you to make your own "spells"

Will use 6-6 mechanics (any one heard about those or is a new system)

There will be alot of unique races

Its set to be played in the 22nd century

Van Mantra is a guy who warned mankind about these aliens comming and they didnt take him seriously untill they came, now hes a mercenary devoted to protecting man kind

The mezin are only referenced in van's profile as causing him to lay low

You will be bale to save your character sheets to the internet

Game Masters will be able to record and keep track of their campaigns online

There will be mutant monsters to fight/run from/encounter

Mindstorm Promises to be active in the community making AO a ever evoling world(More puzzles?)

Location: Some house I found. The people in it are really annoying.

I'm strictly D&D myself, so I was never going to buy AO even if that was what it was, but something still bugs me about their site....
I mean. Why WOULD they open it if it wasn't complete (no character descriptions, etc.)?
Why would they put up sites like Triton Enterprises.net and encode a message by Van Mantra in their denial claim?
Basically what I'm saying is.... what if it's not over?
I know this has all been said before, and I know I'm grasping at straws, but.... *shrugs*
It just doesn't seem to add up, to me....

Just FYI, Gupfee has a good summary article about this game up on ARGN.

Right or wrong Ethan Haas is a bit of a Disappointment for ARG fans

It makes sense that they launch the game's site - they have two major conventions this month alone.

But they should have kept the "game" disassociated from the product. They could have very well kept going with the game without divulging the people and the places on the AO site. But, now, the AO site basically spoils the whole deal, and even if the game continues everyone's left wondering "why?"

And I'm force to quote a friend here regarding the AO description:

Quote:
Oh, God. It looks like a well-animated train wreck. Look at how they describe themselves: "The team at role playing game maker Mind Storm Labs has over twenty years of experience playing, designing, and implementing role-playing games and RPG themes." That's two guys who've been playing D&D since 1996. I mean, they could theoretically be three people who've never played anything except d20. Or perhaps, based on the description of their game, In Nomine. But then they wouldn't consider their game design to be "revolutionary."

Kinda makes you think, don't it?

theres character descriptions.. you just cant make your character yet...they porbably want to build up hype for alpha omega so they have a big bang at gencon and still not get bogged down in EHWR questions that matter very little to the content of the game.
