Not surprising; the TSR picture is sixteen years old.

I mean beyond and accounting for that fact.

On the forum for that RPG site with old TM pics

On the forum for that RPG site with old TM pics I found this guy

I know 1-18-08 and EHWR are not related, but this guys posts creep me out in their Nostradamus like prescience of current events. One post was on 8-1-06 too. Yikes![/url]

What does that have to do with anything? It's D20 and they're talking Call of Cthulhu... Everyone's creepy doing that!

Very true. I don't think it's related at all. I was mostly over-sharing one of the random things I saw while having a poke around the site and pointing out how we're all able to find very crazy co-inky-dinks. I especially like this post made on 8-1-06 though :

" If I made a Mythos Movie...A fun game for all!

Ok, here goes...
If you had the chance to make a movie based on any lovecraftian story,
Whom would you cast? Who would direct? (alive or dead).
Here's mine...
The Dunwich Horror
Wilbur Whately-Ron Pearlman(aka hellboy)
Wizard Whately-Peter Cushing(if you don't know, I can't help you)
Dr. Henry Armitage-Sir Antohony Hopkins
Dr. Rice-Gene Hackman
Prof. Warren-Ed Norton(Fight Club)
Whatley's mother-Helena Bonham Carter(Fight Club as well)
(round out the towns folk w/ character actors whom play 'hillbillies')"

This means nothing. Repeat, This means nothing. Just something fun I found.

No.

sorry if this seems like I am coming down on you but we might not have 240+ pages of random 95% useless wild what-ever-the-heck someone found and just felt the need to share eyeball bleeding mega thread if people would use a filter before hitting submit.

If you kow its not related and its just some random thing you found on your web meanderings perhaps we could all use a larger dose of keep-it-to-yourself

/$0.02

EDIT: forgot which forum I was in- this thread has a long way to go to catch up to the 240 monster thread of 1-18-08 so please ignore that jibe and post away... pardon me...

Another is Omega Cas. And it may totally be coincidence, but it's a blue-white star, like the email one from the ethanhaaswasright website.

Wiki - Omega Cas

Vans email said "know the stars of Cassiopeia and you will know when you've reached your destination."

Well we now know about Alpha Cas and Omega Cas. This seems very much to be pointing us to MSL and the Alpha Omega Game

I agree with you. I think there are quite a few clues that are pointing us to MSL and Alpha Omega.

BUT I have to play the devil's advocate for a second and say that there are tons of stars as part of the Cassiopeia constellation, most of them not even in the "W" that most people consider to be the constellation. Alpha Cas is one of the main stars in the "W," but Omega Cas is one of the not-that-bright outliers.

So . . . I agree with you, but I'm just saying my evidence is also, technically, pretty weak. Especially since we're starting out already thinking we know where we need to end up. But on the other hand (spoiler in case someone still hasn't done the puzzles),
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the password "The Beginning is the End"
could lead us to those two particular stars, too.

Nighthawk wrote:
As far as the stars Alpha and Omega... Generally stars are given their two part names: the first part being a Greek letter, the second part being the constellation they are in. I learned that from Master of Orion. Smile

So there's probably several Alpha-something and Omega-something groups out there, but I haven't been able to confirm that easily.

I agree, and you're right. However, we're supposed to be looking to the stars, right? And more recently, to the stars in Cassiopeia. So maybe it's just coincidence that Omega is blue-white, and maybe it doesn't mean anything, since it's not part of the "W," but I agree with whoever above said we need to be focusing on the game more, and not so much the "conspiracy" behind it all. Although that's interesting, too...

But I want to find these writings of Ethan Haas, and the stars in Cassiopeia seem to be the best clue we have in finding them, whether it's the Alpha and Omega stars, or others in the constellation. And if we're looking for stars with the names Alpha and Omega, we'll be looking in Cassiopeia to find them, according to the latest from Van. And whether it leads us eventually to MSL and Alpha Omega, or somewhere else entirely, the chase is most of the fun, right?

If we are supposed to look at cassiopeia and cassiopeia is shaped like a W.. as in www? then maybe there is a webiste we are looking for with the cassiopeia clue. I'll start looking and see if I caome up with any hits that seem plausible...

Well, I'm pretty sure that a website is the next step. And I refuse to believe that the previous links - which are domains that were purchased seconds before the press release but have no HTML on them - are it. If you're going to have a website for people to find, it should be up and ready to take hits before it can be found.

OK, so we have...
- Divinus
- Stevenson, Washington
- Cassiopeia (damn, couldn't they make it easier to spell? I've seen three different spellings for it as it is)
- A bunch of weird ass numbers

There are several "Named stars" in Cassiopeia- for example Alpha Cas (cas is the short hand for Cassiopeia and Alpha would be the first star- first name, first sighted, don't know) is named SHEDIR

http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~dolan/constellations/constellations/Cassiopeia.html

Edit: clicking on the link inthis site for SHEDIR translates that into "Breast" but don't know what language.- doubt that is significant, though

Not necessarily. If they're in-game, the point might be that only one of them is going to be the correct one, and Van is waiting until more people are caught up to that point before springing the next step on us.

Cas A

Cassiopeia A or (Cas A) is a supernova remnant in the constellation Cassiopeia and the brightest extrasolar radio source in the sky.

Thats the start of a Wiki artical about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassiopeia_A

Not sure if this is also Alpha Cas or if Cas A is something different.

looking for the next step

Nighthawk wrote:

I would be more inclined to look for a web page on one of our existing sites instead of a new domain.

I've been taking the star names as possible subdirectories or filenames.
Named Stars:
  • SHEDIR (Alpha Cas)
  • Caph (Beta Cas)
  • Ruchbah (Delta Cas)
  • Segin (Epsilon Cas)
  • Achird (Eta Cas)
  • Marfak (Theta Cas)
  • etc.

These could be upper- or lower-case, depending on whether or not the server is set to be case-sensitive about URLs. I've tried .htm and .html as extensions, too. And i've tried on the TritonEnterprises.net site and the original puzzle site.

Think about the resources of the character who is leading you in this fashion. Where are they most likely to have access to on the web?
