There's still that odd mark/word between "beneath" and "the surface". He says something there, but I have no idea what it could be.

It seems like that might be an s, or maybe even an a, but neither of those fit...but I don't think it's a word. Could be wrong, of course.

YouTube says they pulled it because cloverfield was often in the titles or tags and so they took them down to keep from having Paramount climb up their butts but it was because the people posting them mistook the connection and labelded them as such... this has been discussed quite thoroughly and you can read all about it- there aren't THAT many pages here- can anyone link the youtube explanation- I read it but didn't save the link.

Interesting. I'll go with "Elim" as being the word in question then and update my blog entry.
