Ok, I believe MIB may stand for Matthew Baldacci, an attending member of the Thrillerfest according to this page:

http://www.thrillerwriters.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=58&Itemid=53

I am currently attempting to verify his middle name.

Also, here is the contact page for the company he works for, which includes his email address

http://www.vhpsva.com/bookseller/contactsmp.html

Or, for those too lazy to check the link:

Marketing Director:
Matthew Baldacci, (212) 674-5151, ext. 807 matthew.baldacciSPLATstmartins.com
St. Martin's Press

Mayan calendar

I'm looking at this site:

http://mayaportal.lucita.net/

Using the CALENDAR link on the left, then the Tzolk'in link, read the bottom 'graph beginning "The Tzolk'in calendar is based...

I think this might be the key to at least one of the number clues...working on it now but am no mathematician. HELP!

I'm working on the 8x8 grid now. I've tried using the long-count method for the four numbers missing, including a zero as the first number, and so far have nothing relevant.

I'll see what else I can dig up.

The fibonacci numbers

Go here and watch a short flash presentation:

http://www.textism.com/bucket/fib.html

Didn't realize that the golden section ends up in a propagating spiral. My head made a connection with the spiral of DNA and the propagating spiral of the golden section. Probably nuthin....

ITW's? Americans can you explain? Very Happy

International Thriller Writers?

Edit: TF - ThrillerFest?
July 12-15 Grand Hyatt, Manhattan
www.thrillerfest.com

The Grand Hyatt in Manhattan is directly beside Grand Central, and actually slightly closer to those coordinates. The dates of the Thrillerfest are also almost identical to the July 12/16 given. So obviously our attention is being directed to that event. It's safe to say that Christopher Forrest, the author of the book being ARGed here, is going to be there, to flog his book, etc. I don't think he's presenting anything, though. This is his first book, so he'll have to earn his stripes first, I imagine. If anybody can be there, it would be worth attending, to see if anything ARG-ish happens on those dates. It might not, but it's a definite possibility.

MIB is pretty much a universal abbreviation for Men-in-Black, and prevelant in conspiracy literature. Since the story involves being hunted by agents of the Order, perhaps they use MIBs as their agents.

Dunno how many of them we've seen, someone may want to archive before they block that off.

Similarly, there is a directory of the images being used at http://triadgenomics.com/images/. One interesting one is Access granted.jpg. We've only seen the thumbnail size version of this. The corner contains a C++ (?) programming language function for hashing a password string, after converting it into upper case.

EDIT: http://triadgenomics.com/images/Tonalamatl.jpg is also interesting, does this appear anywhere? I've identified it as page 20 of the Codex Tonalamatl Aubin (see http://www.famsi.org/spanish/research/loubat/Tonalamatl/thumbs1.html). There are quite a number of these.

The 8X8 Grid

I've studied the corrected grid and put in the correct numbers
Code:

64   2    3    61   60   6    7    57

9    55   54   12   13   51   50   16

17   47   46   20   21   43   42   24

40   26   27   37   36   30   31   33

32   34   35   29   28   38   39   25

41   23   22   44   45   19   18   48

49   15   14   52   53   11   10   56

8    58   59   5    4    62   63   1

I must say the matrix is mathematically perfect. The number of patterns in the grid is huge. None point to anywhere except that the sum each row and column equals 260, the Mayan calendar year. But the other small patterns are amazing!

Does anyone know anything about this matrix?

New Wav files

Hey guys, i dunno if this is old news, but there are new wav files on triadgenomics.com. theres a one milenium tower wav, and wavs linked to the names of the spotlight profile people. my computer doesnt want to open them though =( I left him a message on his phone, just for kicks. ill tell you guys if i get any word back, however unlikely. i said something along the lines of:
Hi Dr. Ambergris,
My name is Hayley Katana (lies) and i was wondering if you would spare some time to tell me more about genetics for a school project i am doing. please give me a call, thank you goodbye.

EDIT: I guess that was old news, sorry lol. I'm new, gimmie a break =)
oh and i figured out how 2 listen 2 them

It's what's known as a "magic square": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_square. We shouldn't be surprised to see them as they play a role in the book.

The http://triadgenomics.com/research.html page has another one hidden (Select All), one that is perfect, but with a different arrangement. A "normal" one which uses each number just once will always add up to 260. I'm not sure there is anything to puzzle out of the one on the research page...

EDIT: Turns out the research one isn't a proper magic square after all: the columns and rows add up, but the 2 diagonals do not. They sum up to 228 and 292. Mistake, or a clue? I don't think it's trivial to "fix" it, either.

I doubt it's of any consequence, but to further illustrate the perfection of the the square, look at this image of all the numbers connected by lines in sequential order. It has amazing symmetry, as well as most of the lines converging on two focal points.

Re: Missing and duplicate number
Not sure if this helps or not

wendigo922 wrote:

If you replace the duplicated numbers with the missing numbers, it makes a more perfect grid. If you replace the 1st 6 with 64, the 1st 8 with 57, the 1st 32 with 33, and the 2nd 38 with 39 (unless my math is wrong, it was never my strong suit), all columns and rows add up to 260.

Note that the major diagonals also add up to 260. Surely these substitutions mean something? They wouldn't screw up a magic square in 4 places by accident... Although they apparently messed up the diagonals on the second one. Why choose those 4 particular numbers to be wrong? The 6 and 38 are particularly glaring, as they break the ascending/descending order of the numbers (1st 6 should be 1 if not 64, 2nd 38 should be 26 if not 39). The other two errors simply use the wrong one of the two logical options.

One of his heroes...
Richard Feynman

Quoting wikipedia:
"Richard Phillips Feynman (May 11, 1918 – February 15, 1988;) was an American physicist known for expanding the theory of quantum electrodynamics, the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, and particle theory." A great scientist dude. also said he was a bit of a prankster (completely irrelevant). Nothing to do with anything Ambergris is working on.
EDIT: And how come it says N/A after graduated? on both colleges? lol (More holes Confused )

About The Square On The Research Page
Sorry About Double Posting!

Something I have noticed

(52 - 61) (4 - 13) (20 - 29) (36 - 45) ()= -9
(14 - 3) (62 - 51) (46 - 35) (30 - 19) ()= 11
(53 - 60) (5 - 12) (21 - 28) (37 - 44) ()= -7
(11 - 6) (59 - 54) (43 - 38) (27 - 22) ()= 5
(55 - 58) (7 - 10) (23 - 26) (39 - 42) ()= -3
(9 - 8) (57 - 56) (41 - 40) (25 - 24) ()= 1
(50 - 63) (2 - 15) (18 - 31) (34 - 47) ()= -13
(16 - 1) (64 - 49) (48 - 33) (32 - 17) ()= 15

I dont know what it means or if i am missing anything, so plz give it ur best shot! Sorry If its messy =(
For a look at what I'm talking about, go to http://triadgenomics.com/research.html and select all (ctrl+a) or just highlight a bunch of blank space and ull find it ;)
