I think we covered the fact that sledriding.com has nothing to do with this. That site looks rather low budgety, just thrown together. Too many real links. Most arg stuff doesn't link to real out-of-game websites (not that many anyway).

Re: Rob's role in the movie and connections to Slusho.

The party is for him. Rob is the protagonist of the trailer, and I assert, the protagonist for the movie.

His house is decorated in Japanese style. On his refrigerator, for instance, is a sheet of paper with vertical kanji on it. There's a number of other places that also have Japanese writing on it in the house.

They are eating shasimi and sushi.

He is referred to as the "main dude" and it is repeated right away for audience emphasis. This is a classic way of quickly establishing your protagonist - have your supporting characters TELL you that the person is the protagonist.

All the stuff about Rob not looking surprised but concerned. Rob is deeply involved in the monster's story.

The dialogue in this is very limited, so every line counts. Recall that the implication is that Rob should have left town earlier.

In Lost, the specific names of the characters were significant. We should focus some effort on the names on the Slusho site and Rob's name itself.

I still think that map at 0:47 is very significant.
Do the markings match up with any Japanese symbols?

It's because you misspelled "mitt". I know this because I was playing online Scabble yesterday and misspelled it the exact same way.
So I looked up mitt, though I think this is gonna lead us no where, but I figured if I was gonna point out a misspelling, I would at least contribute positively to the discussion.

English - Mitt Japanese - Mitto

99 pages is a lot to go through. Is there a summary I can read somewhere?

A lot of the Japanese you are translating is simply the eigo translation - not very useful IMHO. It's kind of like how a Japanese speaker would translate the straight English word with their available syllables (Japanese is a syllabary language).

Glove = Gu-ro-bu or vu

Mitt = Mitto

etc.

Maybe and maybe not. I note that other ARGs in the past have included some very obscurely-hidden clues, including clues hidden in source codes and registry information.

That makes an assumption this is an ARG (Alternate Reality Game where there is a story broken into pieces and the player community solves the puzzles & interacts within the Alternate Reality - often with characters living in the Alternate Reality - to put the story together).

On the other hand, JJ Abrams is very net saavy and knows the power of internet buzz. Websites with information about his movie, bits & pieces of flotsom & jetsom, and driving folks insane with speculation all over the place - that's just great viral marketing. Remember all the stuff that was created for Lost, like the interactive Oceanic airlines site. Wonderful easter eggs to be found when you manipulated stuff around the site, but it wasn't an ARG.

Get in, strap down, hold tight, enjoy the ride. Sounds like there will be more websites & easter eggs related to this movie - but still not ringing "ARG" to me.

And whatever, but I cannot help find it decidedly whacked and ever so curious here that Perplexcity and whoever was doing the billion2one org business (that still comes up in the ads on UF in the top right corner), looking for someone presented only as "satoshi"...and now we got the slusho site with the satoshi email and site owner, and that seems curiously unmentioned despite this being company history - I mean he's family too, why not tell us his name....and that it seems quite likely Satoshi is Ganu's cousin.....

And that guy who asks how you're gonna survive without Rob, he's like your main dude....looks like that guy on the Satoshi site, so bite me Razz

That's just a little tooo.......convenient. But still.

Link to said site?

The large Slusho cup on the home page spins once every 18 seconds. 01-18?

The music is a 3 second loop.

The cup spins once every 6 loops.

What makes you believe the actor is the guy from Yellowcard?

actually, a few people seem to think its that guy. And they're not that seemingly offbase

wow, it is not like its so hard to believe...ryan lives in los angeles, and musicians are always trying to get themselves into movies just to be there, and especially with the age group of the characters in the movie, its prob a safe bet to say thats ryan key

Re: Henry Kelvin, Albert Pike, etcetera
Have we really exhausted this?

A lot of those ideas and theories stemmed from Ethan Haas related stuff, and it's been confirmed as not related to 1-18-08, so that's why a lot of it was abandoned.

Yeah, I thought the Pike stuff and Kelvin came from Whois on 1-18-08.com and the sector seven stuff. But, it's been almost 1400 posts and some of the older stuff's getting jumbled. And at this point, I figured anything's worth a shot. We need to find something, but I honestly think we are working against someone else's time table.

The Pike stuff and the masonic monument are 1-18-08 related, from the whois info on that site. Someone posted who lived in the area, he went by the monument and couldn't find a thing. There is a plaque there apparently that gives a teeny mention to Pike but nothing good.

I think there might be a clue in the monster's roar. Has anyone slowed it, sped it, or played it backwards to reveal a clue?

I think it sounds A LOT like when I used to play with windows sound recorder, recording my voice and slowing it down + reversing it till it sounds like a monster.

Maybe someone can reverse these effects on it?

Very Interesting but this is making me finally believe that maybe the email from JJ was true, and not fabricated.

All in all, I dont think it sound realistic enough to grace a hollywood flick 2007. Sounds like a sound effect. Which is odd, given what hollywood can produce today.
