"Magic Monster" theory. With apologies to Oliver Stone.

I'm just putting this out there for thought, since I saw it posted on another forum and it seems worthy of discussion:

Quote:
"in the trailer, when they are on the roof, and they see the explosion, then they go down stairs to the street, is the explosion they see from atop the building the same one where the flying statue head comes from?

if not, multiple giants monsters?

or is it just quick on it's feet."

I know a similar point has been raised before, that the monster couldn't have gotten from 401 Broadway to Manhattan Island that fast. Perhaps this means multiple monsters? which once again could hint to Rampage.

First post!

I think you're mistaken. First of all, 401 Broadway IS on Manhattan Island.
Second, I think one monster is entirely probable. Think about it: The first explosion comes directly downtown from Broadway ave. (Where Rob's house is located, just north of 401 Broadway). Then a couple of minutes pass, and the SOL head is thrown at 401 Broadway from DOWNTOWN. It strikes the 401 building, veers off back towards the center of the street, and crashes right outside Rob's house.
The explosion could very likely be of something located in Manhattan bay (a ship maybe? does anyone know if there are any fuel depots or something located in that area?). And then, during the following two minutes or so of chaos, the monster moves toward Liberty Island (maybe it's even already there), and throws/knocks/telekineticly hurls the SOL head down Broadway ave., with a slight left hand skew, so it connects with the 401 building, and then jets off at and angle, down to the center of the street.

I think he meant Liberty Island. Obviously getting from Liberty Island to Manhattan that quickly seems ridiculous... but we are, after all, talking about a gigantic monster.

True. But my point is that we have no proof that the monster was ever ON Manhattan Island during the trailer. The fact the Rob and the two girls stare in horror could be easily explained as their shocked responses to seeing the SOL head flying towards them.
I submit to you that the monster threw/hurled/knocked with it's enormous tentacles the SOL toward Manhattan from a distance.

Ugh, it's all assumptions that we've been through before.
It seems more likely that the head was torn off of the SOL and then carried to Manhattan where it was chucked towards Rob's apartment- again, something that's been stated a billion times.. Giving us the impression that whatever the 'monster' is, is enormous.

I think this point has been exhausted and there are more pertinent things to concentrate on.

Or is it likely that one monster beheaded it and was holding it and threw it at another monster it was fighting Shocked

I know we've said it's fake but that post was made on June 10th, 2007 way before this preview came out... anyone else think it could be a good lead still?

I think it's ridiculous to pretend you know what is pertinent and what is not. Regardless... I was just making clarifying what someone brought up, you're preaching to the choir.

You sure you read that right? Cause on July 10 someone posted that link and it was swiftly exposed...

I guess you're right. Too much space between clues makes us all a little crazy... Need an update... Sad

Good point, but that's obviously easy enough to change. It could say 1907 if he wanted to. Not only do the sites it links to make it seem like it's BS- but "I lost something and it's in a random car that happens to be in the movie" doesn't seem like a logical connection.

We heard from JJ Abrams that http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com
http://ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com were both not associated with Cloverfield, but the third site, the one that people are all saying is related we heard nothing from him saying that it's not associated. The license plate number of the New York plate is ABZ 3293 in the trailer.

It's cryptic , yet mysterious message asking for more information regarding the license plate number of the car in question.

The problem is that the site does not claim to be associated with Cloverfield. In fact the site in question simplistically poses a question regarding more information about the car's license plate that is visible in roughly 6 frames

I think that's interesting......

And you need to get your underwear out of a bunch and realize that you're just reposting things that have been said 500 times before, causing other people to tell you to stop reposting.. it's an endless cycle.
I don't thing repeating the same thing over and over again is going to get us anywhere- making what you're saying not pertinent.
Get it? Got it? Good.
Move along.

ETA: it's too damn hot and we haven't had any good leads in a long while. it's all hitting brick walls left and right.
I just think we're all making this much harder than it is. When you think about it, the Slusho lead wasn't "hidden" in coding or anything like that, so it's likely the other supposed websites aren't either.
