Please. I need to know what "fact" he's eliminated.

Remember that big theory I posted on the last page? IT'S ALL CRAP! I typed it right off the top of my head in about ten minutes. The only difference between my crazy theory and his crazy theory is that all my facts are right. I made crazy assumptions and flawed logic and came up with something that sounds great but doesn't mean anything.

That's the point. We don't need more crazy theories. We need to look at the stuff we know we have.

We need to think simply and clearly. That's all.

The Story of Slusho states that "Noriko loved libations." Meaning the noun of course, being the love of tasting new things, yet there is also a city in New York called Libation. Since, of course the Trailer (and probably the movie) is based in New York I thought this might have been a clue??? Confused

Pease forgive me for picking on you. I don't mean anything cruel in doing so. Accept it in the good spirit in which I offer it. Smile

This is a great example of what we've been talking about. Yes, the history says "Noriko loved libations". A "libation" is a drink poured out in offering to the Gods. There's even a Shinto (Japanese!) libation ceremony called "Miki". AHA, you might say. A clue! And you head over to your favorite search engine and start looking up stuff and trying to connect the "God" thing to what we've seen. Well, that big thing could be a God of the Deep. Lovecraft mentioned that the Great Old Ones, especially Cthulhu, was worshipped as a God by a cult. And one of his stories "The Horror at Red Hook" took place, in part, underground in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York City. Red Hook, incidentally, is just southwest of both Liberty Island where the SOL is and Manhattan (draw a line from Liberty Island to Governor's Island, and if you extend it, it'll pass through Red Hook) Further research would show you that, while it's not specifically part of the Cthulhu cycle of stories by Lovecraft, Alan Moore liked it enough to borrow liberally from it for a graphic novel and story of his own. We've also seen that J.J. Abrams is a huge fan of Alan Moore, going so far as wanting very much to make a movie adaptation of Moore's Watchmen comics.

How likely is that, though. Where does it lead? What further clues does it reveal? Most importantly, how firmly does it tie into anything else we've found?

Now, it could be that this great little chain of stuff I just wrote up (all of it true, by the way) could end up being part of the game. But right now there's little basis for thinking it is beyond a chain of coincidences.

But consider this... "Libation" is also slang for any sort of drink, most often used to refer to alcoholic drinks. And the Slusho site is rife with bad English and misused words and phrases. Is it more likely that the word "libation" is something coughed out of a translation program or used by someone who has only a little understanding of English (Look at the "all your base..." translation from the Zero Wing game for a great example of bad translation)?

I think we have to use Occam's Razor here until we find a good reason not to.

Fact of the matter is that this man speaks truth. It's not that we need less, these are great and spec is the best way to spend our time while waiting for the next clue (Which in my opinion will come to us through updated Slusho! or through continually added pics to 1-18-08.com) I don't post often because I only post

WHEN I HAVE RELEVANT INFORMATION

If you have some spec you want to follow up on talk about it in the chat or

follow up on it yourself!!!!!! (yes I used six. Slusho ZOOM!)

all these spec posts do is clutter the thread, make things harder for the people who actually want to WORK on this, and drive away people who would otherwise be involved. Just because we have no lives and can sort through hundreds of posts looking for relevant information doesn't mean everybody else can too.

W3.org is an actual organization that deals with web code standards. The URL you mention is added to HTML so you know what code stadards the web page is using.

It's nothing more.

No, he didn't.

He couldn't eliminate the biblical hints because they never existed. There aren't any biblical hints, just a lot of numbers.

I'm not trying to be mean. Honest. I'm not a mean guy. But posting multi-paragraph treatises on Assyrian language and Greek numerology is just wasteful. It's junk that everyone has to read over. The reason it's junk is because there's never been even the slightest mention to any of that stuff.

All I'm saying - all I've ever said about this - is that going off on wild goose chases, though fun, just clutters up the place. When the real clues do come down the road, we're going to have to shove the junk out of the way to get to them.

I actually think that Cthulhu plays a part in the movie, too.

I don't have any evidence that points to that, though, and neither do you. So I don't post long theories about it. Even that big theory I wrote is mostly crap and has serious flaws in it.

Look, I'm not saying give up the search. I'm saying, limit your search to areas close to the things we *know* are good clues. You have a good head for making associations. We need that skill a lot. We'll need it a lot more as we start getting better clues. I want you to stick around.

Just show a little patience. This is likely to be fun for a few months. We need to pace ourselves so we don't overdose on fun. Smile

Anyone?

It's unusual, but not unheard of.

The record high for January 18 in NYC is 68 degrees, as I recall (I looked it up a couple days ago and posted it in one of the threads). That was in 1990, only 17 years ago.

Also, the record high for January in NYC is 71 degrees. It's not out of the realm of the possible for the city to have a couple warm days in a row and not have it cool down all that much by midnight. The "heat island effect" can be a real bear when it comes to temperatures.

I know the number game really hasn't brought us anywhere, but 63F is 17.222222222C

probably just coincidence though

Original

I honestly think that there going for an original monster approach. I don't like the fact that half the posts on youtube say OMG OMG ITS VOLTRON, when that movie is going to come out an entirely different release date, and would probably be a very very bad movie. Cthulu seems possibly but we can't just look into thier minds and recieve the answer.

I don't know about you all but I would MUCH rather watch and experience something I've never seen before. It makes it more mysterious (mystery st. lol) to build hype to a new type of creature. So I wont mind if it turns out to be Cthulu, but I would hate it, and myself (for getting into the hype) if it was Power Rangers, Voltron, Godzilla, Zilla, most of which is already proven completely false. I really would rather be blown away by something cool and original.

P.S. PLZ PLZ nobody who gets on this EVER say Voltron unless the word sux is in the sentence. Laughing

Is your third question, "where's the third question"? Wink

Hmm..from slusho, I'd say is the bottom of the screen - the cups and such. Then the history page.

I think the third pic is a "story pic". It doesn't give much but it does show us a bit more of what happens after the "Two Women" pic. There are a couple curiosities, but nothing big.

Probably any small coincidence, but the error message:

Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

and the AICN:

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Stay cool the rest of the summer -- and thanks per usual for AICN!

JJ

Again, probably just coincidence, but when was the list time you saw an error page with CAPS on? Not really rhetorical because I never noticed for that, but still something to check out
