where's jason/jensen/jesse?

Whatever name they say i have a feeling that they're referring to slusho shirt guy or to 11 dollars/best night ever guy? Anyone have any ideas about that? maybe that could help us too...
i still think the phrase 11 dollars has something meaning behind it...

I'm starting to think this was not the best forum to bring my Cloverfield speculations to after all.
Does anyone have links to other forums that discuss the ins and outs of 1-18-08?

License Plate

Plate: NY# ABZ 3293

ABZ is in airport code for Aberdeen Airport in the UK, and flight numbers are usually 4 digits?

This might make sense if you look at it in the context of the whois contact info pointing to an airport...

Anyone know a cop that they could get to run the plate?

Shaking photos

Hi all!
I accidentally left open the 1-18-08 site today whilst I went out - don't know if this is something that is a side effect of Flash, but when I got back the photo of the split girl with the little demon thing behind her was shaking, but none of the other pictures were.

Sorry if I am being stupid!

Pipi

I think its a programme bug, Ive noticed that one will slide to an edge whilst another has an epileptic fit, with one being perfectly static.

I too found that before finding that ABZ was also a babylonian linguist text. I stopped on the airport thing because it was in london i believe. Later tonite I will div back into the airport possibility.

Yes, and Im pretty sure its because of the wide variety of leads that has been presented on this forum,. But if all that is coming to an end now and only the most likely theories will be analysed here from now on, this forum wont be the main source of new leads anymore. And I want ALL the information, not just the neatly washed and folded one.

Quick note on three, four, and five letter, letter/number, and number combinations.

Any situation in which you have three, four, or five unit combinations will produce a huge number of results and many instances of false relevancy.

Always take as suspect any connections between things that consist of three, four, or five units of information.

For instance, I have a datafile at work that has ABZ 3293 as its designation. If you were to see it, you would probably and easily find some connection to the trailer in a vacuum.

Reject as highly suspect any tenuous connections between these things until more proof is presented.

I just read all 187 pages of this thread. Just thought I would throw that out there, especially for all the annoying "guests."

Looks like we're waiting around for another picture on 1-18-08.com. I would assume that each new picture would lead to a new website, but that's not been the case at all. Has 1-18-08.com actually lead to *anything* so far? Everything of substance has been from the trailer, AFAIK.

The "hair demon" is most certainly an optical/psychological illusion, as mentioned earlier. That being said, it looks very familiar, like something out of a painting. I'll look into it a bit, but I'm doubting it's anything at all.

I would agree that 63 degrees is a bit warm for midnight in mid-January in New York. Putting all the "OMG GLOBAL WARMING!!11" stuff aside, it seems possible to me that wherever the news station has their thermometer and other equipment could be on fire, or near something that is on fire or getting blown up (or stepped on, whatever). A thermometer would only display the current ambient temperature in its immediate vicinity. Don't get me wrong, though- still seems like a pretty big clue.

There seem to be a lot of attempts to multiply, divide, add, and subtract various numbers (or what might be numbers). I really think that's a dead end. The film "Pi" has a great little discussion in it on how if you're looking for a number it will show up everywhere. Especially something as small as the number six. The repetition of the number six may serve to show that certain sites are connected- nothing more.

I think we need to be looking at this entire "Untitled Experience" from a marketing perspective, because when you boil it down, that's all it really is. Not that that makes it any less enjoyable. There are a lot of ARGs that are made by people who play ARGs, for no purpose other than to be a PM and have a lot of fun. In those, I could see any tiny minute detail leading to a clue, or some crazy factoring of a series of numbers from different websites leading to an answer that has to be translated into ancient Sumerian or something.

But I think we need to distinguish between "private" and "commercial" ARGs. If this is indeed a game, it's one that the creators would make accessible to your average man-on-the-street. Yes, they'll have to do some digging, but nothing super labor-intensive. In my own research, I'm taking a step back and trying to look at this from the perspective of someone who has absolutely no knowledge of ARGs, and very little technical knowledge. Because *that* is who this is being created for- not for the guy with a math degree and an Unfiction toolbar.

Heck, they might have even thrown in a bunch of numbers to keep *us* busy with nonsense, and give the average, non-ARG-aware person a chance.

Just my ruminations.

Just sent an e-mail. At this point, why the heck not?

Edit: bounced.

Also, whoever mentioned "Lavos" like seven hundred pages back, I feel you. The first time I saw the trailer, that's exactly what I thought. But super unlikely.

And when I saw the Slusho! site, "Fruity Oaty Bars" was the first thing that popped into my head. I checked, and JJA was not involved with Firefly/Serenity, but Drew Goddard (writing credit for 1-18-08) did write for Buffy/Angel. But that's a pretty sad attempt at a connection.
