Here's my theory...just 'cause everyone's doing it:

Slusho is not a drink. It's an iceberg with a meteor frozen inside. A huge meteor. So big in fact, that scientists can't work on it in the arctic (or Antarctic...wherever), so they decide to tow the iceberg (I know, farfetched. I remembered this news story about a Saudi prince who's been trying to do this for a long time...it's not a new idea) down to New York. They tow that bad boy up the Bay and park it right next to the SoL. The scientists start working on the meteor by mounting a large drilling rig right on top of the iceberg, boring through the ice to get to the meteor. As tourists flock to see it, it becomes one of those cultural phenoms that capture the attention of the nation, or at least those who think that cable news is actually news. Anyway, the NYC press has a field day with this thing. They go to town. One of the newspaper starts calling it Slusho! It's a giant icee with a straw sticking out the top, and it's sitting right there in the harbor. T-shirts, mugs, floor mats...all the usual paraphenalia's being hawked. Maybe the meteor inside makes it look blue.

Everything's going fine until the unseasonably warm winter temps. Slusho begins earning its name now because, well, it's starting to get slushy. Melting it is. When it reaches its critical point...blammo. It's alive, it's huge That's why they're shocked...they've lived with, Hell, they've celebrated this thing. It's familiar but it isn't what they were sure it would be. I'm betting it's hungry as well.

What's Rob's part in all this? Don't know.

Nice pitch.

You think you can have a script on my desk by next Monday?

Yeah, I noticed that too. The most obvious of which was Slusho Zoom upon reading which I downloaded the wallpaper and zoomed in on the slusho logo... but I didn't see anything...
I noticed it first when I read "You can't drink just six." I was like, oh, okay... should be "bet you can't...." but then I noticed... "You will return soon!" and the most interesting one: "Slusho! happy, are you happy? Tell Slusho! Right now!" You think there's anything to that?

God only knows dude. I've been pushing the abstract thinking to the max and I'm coming up on E. Staring into it I considered that maybe the spinning slusho cup may unlock something. But if it were a timing issue I wouldn't know where to click to unlock anything. I noticed it says "just another update for you" when you mouse over history so I tried clicking on that in tune with the spinning cup but no... nothing. Spinning could be considered a type of zooming... kind of... if you stretch reeeeeally far...

I've got a guy where I work swears his forum's got insider information claiming it's an aliens attack NY movie which makes NO SENSE and there are set pictures of some movie that involves a destroyed street, and rocket launchers but that's pretty much every Hollywood film ever and I find it hard to believe that they would go through all that trouble all that secrecy all that legal action to let somebody run loose on the set with a camera and leak it out to the world...

Uhh....he bet that one guy 11 bucks he could climb up to the top of it in 30 minutes or less and slid off and busted his ass and decided not to pay the guy...and the slusho thing got an attitude at Rob and friend for calling it "just a glorified icee." Razz

Maybe not...ya never know. Maybe the number patterns are a combination key of sorts and we gotta root out what the combination unlocks - a url code or a link even to a BTS site.

I don't know, obviously, but you're the first one who helped me with a breakthrough on what else slusho zoom could mean other than zoom in. Maybe the spinning speed is what they're talking about - it's zooming around. I have heard that in context of race cars zooming "around" a track but it never occurred to me til your post there.

What about the speed? The zoom?

I love you. Thank you. You rule. Now I can stop banging my head there's at least another meaning for it at all!

Wow. Do you know how awesome it would be if this film is a mashup of The Thing, King Kong, and The Mountains of Madness? It would be completely awesome because it would be the final bit of evidence I'd need to prove that Hollywood is completely out of ideas.

Another question about the Slusho! site - has anyone else noticed that everything that they say (well, almost everything) is in command form, rather than suggesting form??

That's because Japanese doesn't have a suggestive form. When you suggest someone does something you either use command (て form) or you use the negative form of the verb followed by か ("shouldn't we do this") however this is used usually only when one person is suggesting an activity for the two of them to do together. I actually never heard it used while I was in Japan and I was doing a high school exchange so you'd expect the teens to use it with me (nope they just say the verb with a suggestive tone and ask if it's okay or...use command tone). It looks to me like just more engrish. i didn't even notice it I'm so used to Engrish at this point ^.^ Definitely hate being back in America.

A) This is how most ARGs start. Slowly and with us grasping at air until they decide to release the next (real opening) step

B) How do you know the films budget?

C) Sit back, relax, and wait for the next clue to be released, that's what I'm doing and clearly I'm enjoying it more than you. I keep checking for updates and to see if anyone has found anything that could be a real lead but other than that I assume it hasn't started yet. It probably hasn't. Keep looking, but don't strain yourself yet...the real fun hasn't even started yet.

A) Its common knowledge that the budget for this film has been set at 30
million (which for a monster/disaster flick is peanuts.

AND

B) "wait for the next clue" would be an indication that we have recieved
any clues at all. The only progress that has been made so far is the
"discovery" of the slusho site which came about becuase someone
noticed the logo on a guys shirt in the trailer. Which for all we know
could just be a nod to Alias. That slusho site has produced dick.
There has been more interesting things coming out of sites that have
been deemed "OOG".

Dont get me wrong, I dont wanna discourage anybody. I wanted this to be an ARG more than anyone seeing as how this would have been my first and I was in on it from the ground floor. But as a puzzle/movie lover like I'm sure all of us are, I'm just doing my part to cushion the blow when we all find out that this was just a new kind of marketing campaign and that the movie blows. But hey...it was a historical trailer. I will give em that.

Hmmm

Well ya know.....

Let's do some math (but not too much because I suck at it).

Trailer airs July 3.
1-18-08 website located July 3.
2nd pic added July 6.
Anon delivery of the high def trailer July 9
Grist notices Slusho and finds Slusho.com/jp July 9.
BTS adjustments to 1-18 and Slusho July 11.
3rd photo added July 12.

So it's been what, 5 days since the last "thing" happened?

And only 12 days since ALL of it kicked off?

I want a bone too but perspective helps....we're not even 2 weeks in here and already we got 2 sites and 3 pics, and even a little nod from JJ to clear up the unnecessary debating so we can get back to business.

Just for comparison....after 12 days into S7, where about was the progress?

One thread.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17738&start=60

5 pages.
