If they are real or not, I can't say.

I'm very convinced that these are real. Specifically because it's the opposite side of the street from where the camera is in the trailer, the buildings match, including the lamppost, taxicab (One gets mangled but there's a second in the trailer), and the subway entrance.

I personally think we're looking at an alien attack here.

Something that I haven't seen mentioned in a while with all the monster theories would be this;

When you see the big fireball, there are things flying up into the air, that again explode and begin pelting buildings with flaming debris.

Nothing that a natural creature could do by itself could cause an event like that to happen.

So, I think we're looking at aliens.

And as far as the "IT'S ALIVE, IT'S HUGE!" thing, it could be an alien that left the ship, and it truly IS huge.

Ever heard of Airburst bombs? They hit the ground and smallish charges "bounce" up, shatter and fire off grenade like objects all round. Maybee this being uses Lava in a similar fashion. When it surfaces a small eruption causes large chunks of magma to fire up into the air and airburst, it happens IRL when a volcano of any size erupts. By the look of the explosion it could easily be the start of an eruption event.

Then it would be a horrible clue.

Satoshi hunt?

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but ocasionally at the top of the unforums page, is an ad for a reward for help locating a man. They show a pic of an asian guy, and ask for any info in finding a SATOSHI!!! Seemed odd enough to check out, so I left any info I got from the whois at slusho, along with the Satoshisplatslush.jp. I heard people googled the name and got something about a lawyer? Maybe you want to send that info in to?

Could be non-related, but coincidental enough for follow up...

The "It's Alive! It's Huge!" line is being a bit overlooked, cause the "It's Huge!" isn't the key part. When the guy says "It's Alive!" in the trailer leads me to believe that whatever IT is, is something that normally wouldn't be alive or was something that was dead and now alive again.

Why would, after a hugely funded Transformers movie,
would they come out 6 months later, with a low budget sequel?

$$$, the world revolves around it. the hype for transformers is still high, and would cash in at the theatre's again, that quickly after the first movie.

i for one, would welcome our new mechanical overlords.

seriously, i don't see that happening, but it makes at least as much sense as godzilla, mothra, voltron, and the like.

Which is to say that it, for all intents in purposes, it makes NO SENSE.

So then why post it if you "seriously...don't see that happening," other than to advertise your unabashed Transformers geek-on? Laughing

honestly, i've wanted to post "i for one would welcome our new mechanical overlords", and, i would watch it. we're all grasping at straws, and taking more meaning into everything there is, while some how missing some trivial detail...like a decimal point...until by some miracle somebody way smarter than i finds it, or something else leaks, its all speghetti at the wall, or...slusho under the bridge

How BIG would that creature HAVE TO BE???

Big enough to climb up a 300' statue and remove its head. Then take the head, which is about the size and weight of an H2, and throw it three miles. Wink

Personally I think it's one big sea monster that just saw poor Ms. Liberty and decided to play Tee-ball.

and what if it was so big, it walked right up to the statue, reached down and tore off its head, then roared a mighty earhtquake producing roar, and tossed it like a freaking softball, with one hand

what if our creature was THAT big, that it could hold the head of the MS Liberty in the palm of one hand. would you believe then that it could toss her two miles into manhattan from wence she stands?
