I don't believe that anyone has pointed this you yet. The guy says that Rob still owes him $11. Well, 11 is 4+7, or, 47.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_%28number%29#In_pop_culture

In fact...

""Product Recall," the 47th episode of the American version of The Office, begins with Jim Halpert coming into work dressed like Dwight Schrute. He later tells the camera that glasses like Dwight's cost him $4 and the shirt and tie were a combined $7, for a total of $11. Later in the episode, Angela Martin upbraids her fellow accountant, Kevin Malone, for incorrectly adding the same two numbers."

Now wait a minute! The Office!? Didn't Mr. Abrams Guest-Direct... oh yes he did!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0967814/

Not that episode though. I admit, a tremulous link.

I feel 47 will feature strongly in this game.

I think it's Camera-Dude's place. The one that walks in with Rob.

well the party starts on 1-17-08, so wouldn't that mean Rob is leaving on the 18th? I realize your point is that his apartment isn't packed... but maybe it is not a permanent venture to Japan?

maybe not, but why throw an obviously well thought out (with the banner made of pictures) going away party for someone who was only going to come back?
I'd take everything with me if I were going to be there for more than 5 months.
meh, i don't think that detail matters anyway though

Hey Jela did you read either of the articles he cited? Or are you content to just quote and add one word or sentence responses? The fact that 47 is referenced in Alias (ain't that where slusho comes from)? And also Star Trek (ain't that something JJ's working on?) should tell you the guy is positing something new that needs at least a chance.

edited cause exrandu's a dude, dude.

Funny, moto of the day for January 18th 2008: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Motto_of_the_day/January_18,_2008

Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take up arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing, end them.

Also i don't think my last post went through so I'll try again. About 47, I'm dead serious, about The Office link, not so much, except to point out Abrams has been in 47-related projects not just once, but twice before.

Another tantalizing tidbit. I went to Wikipedia to see if i could dig up anything interesting regarding historical events on January 18th. Well, turns out its the birthday of a Japanese emperor, one "Daigo". While that in and of itself might not be utterly fascinating, this little story regarding the origin of his name reminds me of a few things:

"The name Daigo comes from Daigo Temple, which is located in Kyoto and was Emperor Daigo's official temple during his life. Daigo temple in turn takes its name from daigo, or ghee in English, which is the most refined of the 5 flavors of Buddhism (milk, cream, curdled butter, butter and ghee). It is said that when a buddhist monk climbed the mountain on which Daigo temple is now located and tasted the water from a spring there, he exclaimed that the water had the finest taste of ghee (daigo), and proceeded to build a temple there of the same name."

anagrams

Iamthequestion wrote:
how many fo them were strange phrases in a story, such as the slusho history page, and how were they emphasized, what was it that stood out, that lead people run them through the anagram o matic?

BTW I use this one

one of the results for ovenmitt, cheese was

vicomte ethenes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaux-le-Vicomte

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ethenes

Cliff notes: deadly french gas

What it you are unintentionally shortening mitten to mitt. If you use your anagram converter for "BLUE OVEN MITTEN" you come up with some interesting words, bentonite velum. Vellum misspelled but a very interesting substance.

Quote:
bentonite is a kind of clay which has the property of swelling when it is wetted, absorbing up to ten times its own volume of water. It is used for foundry molding, in tooth pastes, face powder and facial mud packs.

hmm.. Ive never called it an oven mitten, in fact I don't even recall ever hearing anyone reference it that way, it just always occured to me as oven mitt.

besides vicomte ethenes with no mispellings, referecnes the french, where SOL came from, part of the name of the guy who inspired such a large structure, and a chemical that was possibly used to shape it.

Re: anagrams

I mentioned it before, but www.ovenmitten.com is a Japanese bakery that specializes in cakes and sweets. "Oven Mitt(en)" may be a synonym for a "sweet treat" and therefore just nothing.

Time

Okay, add one piece of info that has confussed me.

the clock on the trailer says 10:15

but the photos all have after midnight listed on them. I guess the clock could be wrong, but if it is, is that on purpose or an accident? Or maybe the party started early and the camera was turned on and off multiple times, but I didn't get that feel from the trailer.

BTW, I didn't read every post of the 250+ pages... if someone has already mentioned this, I appologize.

It's standard movie practice that all analog clocks be set on or about 10:10, regardless of what time of day it actually is.

Going no where fast but VELUM may not be misspelled but rather a membrane refering to sea creatures.
