Most likely. They did say new information was going to come in August, right?

Well, he'll be at Comic Con next week and we'll probably get an official name. I think that's it. You might be getting confused with the ethan haas stuff.

Yep, this deal is DOA. I've lurked umpteen forums and everyone has been stuck in this ditch for over a week. This new pic has nothing notable aside from the brightness at 1:24 am. Far as EHWR, at least there's something happening there.

Yeah, the new photo is just filler. Everybody take the week off, we'll reconvene when we get news from Abrams as to what's up with the "web stuff."

Hey Nighthawk.

The nearest military base is 50 miles to the north of NYC. Westpoint. Fort Drum is also pretty close. Both are close enough to be in downtown NYC within the hour by helicopter. If I had to guess... I'd say anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half to get boots on the ground that were from either of those bases. 30 minutes being everything was prepped at the time they got the call. And even then, the first guys to show up, probably wouldn't look like this guy.

Really, I think ya'll are over thinking this. He looks like National Guard to me. As in... he was already there to begin with. After all there are plenty of NG troops in NYC right now.

I agree that the photos mean nothing, besides the time stamp. But I think there is alot more to do with the teaser and website than has been gathered so far.

I'm a little teapot, short and stout.
Here is my handle. Here is my spout.
When I get all steamed up, hear me shout,
"Just TIP ME OVER AND POUR ME OUT!"

I hate to be a wet blanket here, but let's look at the facts: We've got four pictures posted varying intervals apart. We've got four timestamps that are varying minutes apart. We've got people in the photos who vary in number, gender, race, and apparent occupation.

I'm going to have to say that, barring any clever pattern-finding in the numbers, the pictures are just teasers. There's nothing in them beyond exactly what they appear to be, people at random moments during a horrific disaster of unknown type.

Speculating on what the monster(s) might be based on the uniform the soldier is wearing, looking for lion heads in blurry backgrounds, criticizing the woman's choice of pants?? None of this is getting us anywhere.

Quit trying to guess the plot of the story. If this is an ARG, I can guarantee that what the monster looks like in the movie is going to have very little to do with it. I highly suggest that those of you who are new to ARGs take a look at the other games on this site already in progress and/or take a look at Cloudmakers to see what ARGs are all about and what "clues" are. Clues lead you somewhere. They advance the game. They don't force speculation on the monster.

Just my .02

I'm very inclined to agree with you. This is not an ARG. It's not even particularly good viral marketing because by the time the movie comes out, its most ardent fans are going to be so burned out on it, they likely won't care much to see it. At this point, I don't care what the movie is going to be called, nor would it excite me very much if a new trailer came out tomorrow. To be perfectly honest, I've never been terribly interested in the movie and I'm not at all a JJ Abrams fan (I've never seen an entire episode of any of his three TV series), The notion of an ARG would definitely have pulled me into watching it, if for no other reason than to see elements of the ARG in the movie. It happened with AI and that was a horrible movie.

An ARG has clues that lead to answers and some level of progress, even if its slight progress. We've had exactly one breakthrough - the Slusho site - and that's it. Even slow-starting ARGs manage to do more.

Color me increasingly uninterested in being jerked around.

Do we?

By my observations, the pictures have come out in a pretty good patter thus far:

1) July 2?
2) July 6
3) July 12
4) July 20

I'm really not sure when the 1st one appeared, so I'm guessing the 2nd is pretty close.

1-2 = 4 days, 2-3 = 6 days, 3-1 = 8 days. 4,6,8.

If pic 5 comes out on the 30th, all will be in the pattern.

As for the timestamps, I'm looking into it.

Came out on the third.

3, 6, 12, 20. 3, 6, 8

If anyone has ever seen the first remake of Godzilla (don't quote me on that) the roaring in the trailer sounds to me like the giant lizard himself. That distinct harsh scream is on a toy I have packed away and the yell is uncanny.

People will make fun of you for saying that because they don't fucking realize that the rights to Godzilla could have been moved or plans involving Godzilla could have changed.
