Cool, let's keep casting everything off as unrelated, that should get us somewhere.

No. We cast off the obviously unrelated wanking. That does, in fact, get us somewhere.

I mean, did you even read that post? What kind of twisted logic would have to impose on yourself to think that any of that was in any way related to this movie?

Hmm..

Rhialto, as you can see, I am new to this forum and whole ARG thing. I really think your rudeness in very uncalled for. Excuse me if I don't have your ranking in posts (which most of them probably come from bashing others rather than saying anything important), but I am trying and that's all that matters. I figured maybe we could find some key words or phrases that may help us out. Unlike you, I do see some similarity in what I posted, as twisted as it may be.

I'm not saying I've discovered anything at all in regards to this ARG.

But if you think I'm not going to call the more random and nonsensical connections made on this forum for what they are, you're wrong. Otherwise we end up with pages and pages of random noise.

I mean, look at your theory, or whatever you want to call it. The characters are yelling "Jensen" which is clue by the filmmakers to find the website of an established sci-fi and video game writer who at one point (years ago) was working on a video game that has the same name as an unrelated Stephen King story which has a single plot element that is probably similar to one of the plot elements of this movie. That was their plan. For us to find that out.

I mean: what?

I gotta say I agree with Nighthawk, and that's a scary thing.

We've got nothing to go on. If there are clues hidden in the two sites we know if, they're so obscurely and/or badly done that we can't find them. That's either the ARG dev team being sloppy in their execution or arrogant in their own cleverness.

But, personally, I don't believe there are any "clues" to be had right now beyond Abrams vague chain-yanking.

So we wait and see what they do.

I thought this was the thread for that. What's wrong with throwing things out there to get some ideas flowing?

Well, the thing you threw out are pretty much totally unconnected to each other or this movie. How does that help? What "ideas" do we have "flowing" at this juncture? Essentially you've confused things by bringing in totally unrelated material. I know we have nothing to go on, but we need to accept that and just wait. And if you bring in stuff like what you did, I'm gonna say what it is.

Okay, i've tried typing "1-18-08" into every known search engine on earth, and so far, http://www.statueofliberty.com/ houses the ONLY search engine that yields an entire page of seemingly random Voltron products when you type "1-18-08" into the search box. I'm talking about the original Voltron products, the comics, the dvd's of the cartoon, etc. I think it's odd that "1-18-08" would yield a full page of Voltron product links when typed into the search box of http://www.statueofliberty.com/, when, on every other search engine it yields stuff about JJ Abrams' forthcoming movie. How or why would "1-18-08" yield an entire page of links to Voltron products and ONLY Voltron produts when typed into the search engine of

The point Rhialto was trying to make is that this is a forum about ARGs, Alternate Reality Games. What that means is that, if we find clues in the trailer or on Slusho, those clues are going to lead us to other people, businesses, and websites that exist within the movie's "reality", not ours. That's what an ARG is. The clues don't exist to flesh out the movie, they lead you down rabbit-holes of another dimension where these fictional businesses and people supposedly really exist. Speculating on the nature of the movie is just that, talking about a movie. It has nothing, repeat nothing to do with the Alternate Reality Game.

Rhialto is right, the extraneous fluff needs to go if this really is an ARG. You may think he was being rude, but there's 4500+ posts in this thread alone and very few of them have anything to do with the ARG. They're speculations on what kind of monster it is or who the people are or what the plot might be. Those get us nowhere and those of us who are interested in playing an ARG in Abrams reality are extremely tired of these stupid diversions.

So if Rhialto seems short tempered to you it's because people posting this random crap that has more to do with the plot of the story and less to do with the reality of the game haven't bothered even using the simple search function this forum provides to see if their nonsense has been posted before and that. is. frustrating.

So get off Rhialto's back kindly.

I'm going to admit, here, that I had no idea this was purely an ARG forum, and was in fact going for the Cloverfield mystery, and am quietly bowing out (he said as he earned his greenhorn).

statueofliberty.com is *not* related, *never* will be related, and spending time on it is a *waste*

It's your typical expired domain-name squatter splash page that sends search requests through Overture to make themselves some money.

That's it.

that, and we've already beaten the dead horse than is Voltron... many many times.

They are not one in the same

http://imdb.com/title/tt0472429/

Check out the plots if you don't believe that they couldn't be the same movie.

Yeah.... where's the connection?

There are speculation threads labeled [spec] for that sort of thing, if ya like.

Someone, somewhere has a twisted sense of humor. I hope.
