Man, I totally remember INFOCOM. They were the absolute best. Zork, Sorcerer, Hitchhiker's Guide, The Lurking Horror. Sigh. In fact, I was a beta-tester for Steve Meretzky at his post-Infocom gig with Legend Entertainment.

I beta tested a few INFOCOM games - Witness and Suspended. Infocom games were great! Anyone who wants to check them out, to get a feel for them, can go to...

Wow, I'm impressed.

And you couldn't recommend that Suspended be beatable even if you did screw up in the first eight turns? What kind of a tester are you? Wink

The call sheet from NY Megazine

If any of you have seen the call sheet, the link is provided at cloverfieldclues.com the cheese logo, is of velveeta from kraft foods. Maybe significant??

http://media.nymag.com/docs/07/08/jjabramscallsheet.pdf

Not to be rude, but how did you get past the thread called [SPEC] Call Sheet to get to the huge thread? I know it's long and is marked as the trailhead, but that was pretty far down the list where as the correct one was near the top.

Holy CrAP you better be kidding, that is the most retarded theory to state after, at comic-con, j.j. abrams stated that the monster he is creating will be original, and it is not a remake/legend. Geez, get with the program

So I took a break from this forum for a few days because it looked like it was getting silly again. I came back smack dab in the middle of the over-quoting bit, got frustrated, and left again.

I come back today and - well - I'm done. I've become convinced of a few things that have detracted from my interest in 1-18 and I'm officially giving up.

1 To those of you who are looking for a 1-18 ARG - you are outnumbered, give up. For every one of you out there trying to find clues and info there are thirty people here who are more interested in talking about the monster's gender and other movie content that is completely irrelevant to any possible ARG. The 1-18 forum on Unfiction is now devoted almost exclusively to guessing at movie spoilers. I blame that on

2 Total failure on the part of the marketing team behind this "ARG". I'm convinced that the "viral marketing" for 1-18 consists entirely of Abrams' marketing team saying "Hey! Internet! We have a viral marketing campaign!" and that's all. Then they sit back and watch people scramble to find it, completely convinced it actually exists. I can see the PR people saying things to themselves like "Hey! They're looking at MySpace! We should make pages for the MySpace characters!" or "Hey! They're looking at every detail of the trailer! We should put up some blurry, grainy still photos from the movie set!"

So, I give up. The combination of the near complete lack of attention on the part of Abrams' PR department and the total inundation of forums that are supposed to be about ARGs with people who are more interested in talking about the movie has made this unfun.

I took a look at the walkthrough for Seastalker and it did indeed seem very intriguing.

If you're planning on playing through the game, the following has possible minor *spoilers* so don't read it.

Ok, essentially you're working at an underwater lab when you get a warning that the Aquadome is under attack by a giant monster. You eventually learn that someone has been creating giant mutant sea creatures for nefarious (well, duh) purposes. The main gist of the game consists of figuring out how to navigate towards and defeat the monster, known as the "Snark".

While this may or may not have anything whatsoever to do with 1-18-08, it sure is interesting (to me at least)

OOG Well they just had a tornado in NYC so conditions wouldn't allow it anyway, not to mention they're not worried about movie shoots, they're involved in clean up which will take a good while.

That being said, since the tornado that hit was almost immediately following the wrap on the shoot....I wonder if maybe they took the opportunity to grab some natural devistation footage to help with the FX while they were there? If I'd just been shooting footage for a movie where NYC gets destroyed, and then a tornado hit and tore up some stuff, wrap or not, I'd be shooting a little more before I left....

IG

Haven't been following the whale connection, sad as it is, but I do point out that slusho is people, and whales, like people, are mammals....so there's a legitimate connection being made. Have no idea what it is though...
