Just to review for everyone, anyone can start a summary thread or start a new topic thread if they think something is being ignored. If lots of people chose to pick up on it, great, if not, you can always work with the few who do.

My personal opinion:
I think we haven't found anything else, because there isn't anything else to find. I don't think they intended for there to be anything more at this point. Perhaps someday there will be more. If so, I hope it will be a better design than that low level site that a reasonably sophisticated person was supposed to have made.

If I'm wrong and the whole internet which has been searching for stuff has missed sites of vital importance, then I am happy to say this is the worse design I've ever seen. I'm not going along with blaming the audience (or if this were a game, the players) for the lack of relevant data.

Also, a general note, I know it may be frustrating to some and you've probably all noticed by now, but we pretty much aren't locking threads. We want to encourage conversations, not shut them down. If someone posts something that annoys you, don't bother to reply and don't let them hijack your thread. If a thread isn't interesting, just ignore it and it will fall away.

/end of rant for the week. Smile

IGN interview with Blake Lively:

"Then there's Cloverfield, the J.J. Abrams produced monster movie being released on 1-18-08 that's so secretive, no one even knows it's actual title -- Cloverfield is just a code name. Whether Lively is even in the film is uncertain; at the time I spoke to her she was listed on the film's IMDB page, but now she is not. However, some reports say she was seen filming sequences for the film in New York. At this point however, it all remains a mystery, and as you'll see at the end of our interview, based on her response, Lively is either not in the project or she's doing her part to keep the movie's secrets. Apparently we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out just what her involvement is or isn't in this much buzzed about film."

From page 3 of the interview:

IGN TV: Lastly, I have to ask if IMDB is correct that you're in a little movie opening on 1-18-08?

Lively: What? I haven't checked IMDB these days. I'll have to check! [Laughs]

IGN TV: [Laughs] So anything you can say about that project?

Lively: I don't know what you're talking about!

IGN TV: Wow, so it's that secretive, huh?

Lively: [Smiles] No, I don't know. I don't know what you're talking about!

Is Blake suppose to be Jamie? If she is in the movie?

Her picture on IMDB does not look like Jamie, pretty blond girl, some similarities, but I don't think it's the same person.

In the interview, I take the "laughing" when asked about her role in the movie as an indication that she is in the film and she is playing it off in a joking manner. Its difficult to gauge, reading a transcript of an interview...you can't see someone's body language, eyes, mannerisms, hear the tone in their voice etc, but if she were not in the movie, she would flat out deny it, not pretend she didn't even know the movie existed.

This is probably not the thread for this discussion...but since we're ranting...

Isn't this like saying "The speed limit is 55 mph, but we have stopped giving out speeding tickets?"

It's one thing to give out less tickets, but to announce that you don't give out tickets anymore. You are just encouraging bad behavior.

As a general rule I understand not wanting to censor conversation, but you guys are unwilling to delete a Goatse thread, or lock the 2nd and 3rd and 4th edition of same topic? I think these "policies" hurt the community more than they help. Maybe if there weren't so many useless threads, it would be easier for people to find things.

ALSO, would it hurt for the admins to rename threads so people can figure out what is in them? I know people are trying to be cute and funny, but I'm so tired of thread names like "what the shit... " or "They are sc...". How is that helpful for anyone else trying to find information???

/end rant Razz

Sure, that works - until the troll that started it (or their smurf/sock puppet account) posts 'bump'.

Is there an append function on this particular forum software? I know some forum software has had that option for Mods or Admins so they could attach a new repetitive thread to the tail of the original. That'd certainly help gently redirect the wayward and keep all the discussion in one place, hopefully leading to more productive results.

I think it's possible that we are not getting as much as we could out of this 1-18-08 experience because we are being less organized than those creating it.

Well, I understand this point of view. Actually, I've spent more than a few hours discussing it with people here. Some things happen behind the scenes here. If someone bumps their own thread, for no purpose other than to bump it, that person is asked to stop. Further action taken depends upon how they respond to that request. Also, using multiple accounts to conceal your identity is a TOS violation. TOS violations are treated seriously.

I guess that was stupid on my part then, guess we will have to see what happens. I suppose people could keep asking for locked threads and being ignored...that just seemed rude to me. Smile

I'm not sure what you are trying to find. I think the reference threads have been pretty well maintained. If you don't agree or have something to add, please post in what you know in those threads... I may miss things for adding to the first post, so feel free to PM me if you want. There is also a wiki that anyone can add to.

The amount of useless threads...well, that is another topic that I have discussed at length. Referring people to a thread that has already started usually ends the discussion in that thread.

I also think that the amount of useless threads correlates highly to the complete lack of information from the "game."

Sure, speaking only for myself, I can do more of that. To be honest, sometimes I can't figure out what the person is talking about so it makes it hard to rename. But I agree that thread titles need to be more exact.

I'm not certain if this has already been covered in another thread, but there's a new photo on 1-18-08.com with what appears to be a recipe on the reverse, albeit written in Japanese (I assume it's Japanese at least).

Also, there is definitely a roar if you leave the page open for about ten minutes.

hi welcome to uF! the topic of the 6th picture on 1-18-08.com has been talked about a lot and has even been completely translated. U can find more info here http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21297 It has lead us to another website http://tagruato.jp

The roar has also been covered and I'm just too lazy to look it up right now but I'm sure if you type "roar" in the search button at the top u'll find something.

hope that was of some help...

p.s. a lot of the ppl here that come around for the first time check the wiki, the stickies, or just use the search button before they ask just to make sure it hasn't been covered yet... Very Happy

EDIT: to add url

Hey Imilan,

welcome to the forum, the roar I know has definitely been spotted before (and spawned a fair amount of discussion - see here for example. I'm less certain about the images and I'm just browsing through the threads to try and find out for definite. It's the chef that I don't remember previously - is that the one you mean? Can anyone else confirm newness or point Imilan to a good thread?

cheers

Mikey

No "newness" recently to speak of Mikey. Some of us were hopin' for a treat last night for Halloween - didn't pan out...lol

Lasher's original translation for the 6th 1-18 pic, which proved accurate,
can be veiwed here ...his translation translated the "secret ingredient" as
Deep Sea Nectar (or Seabed Honey), as oppossed to "deep sea crab"
that many otherz improperly translated early after recieving the pic.

Welcome to uF Imilan...
