I could be wrong but i dont think it matters wat the conferencing center is. I think it's a fake name there for realism. again, could be wrong.

Now I heard someone say that the password is 131# but didn't work, and if I recall they got it through listening to the recordings, maybe the password is just the bleeps in the recording.

We are not meant to brute force anything. Pressing * and trying to break that password is, IMO, out of game and should be left alone.

Agreed. This is a dead end. I wish people would stop trying to brute force into the administrative controls for this conference software. It just muddies the threads and distracts players.

Perhaps we should try to brute force it. if Bungie truly wanted us to not find out that PIN, then they would have made it some impossibly long string of random numbers, and changed every day or every hour, just to be sure. if that is true, we can search and search all we want, but the probability of us finding it out will still be almost infinitesimally small. but on the other hand, if we were truly meant to find it, and there is indeed some very valuable info to be had there, then we should try to brute force it.... though i think it would be reasonable to stop when we get to 10 digit PINs, or something like that, because at that point i think we can rest assured that were not supposed to brute force it.

Nothing should have to be brute forced in an ARG. The whole point of an ARG is to interactively tell a story, not string along random clues and make people brute force conference centers. The story will move along when Bungie is ready for it to.

Agreed. We could spend that effort on finding a new Site/Glyph and start linking things together.

Mail systems in small PBXs typically don't give you the option to completely disable the * menu. You can however set the password to something ridiculously difficult.

Simply because the menu couldn't be disabled doesn't mean we are supposed to try to figure out the password.

They are changing the recordings being played and will keep changing it until we're ready to move on to the next stage just be patient.

So far nothing but the first server unlock has been interactive we're just being told a story. Speculate all you like about the messages content but I highly doubt the first puzzle presented would require brute forcing the password in a hidden menu that no clues point to.

A few random thoughts-

1a. Right after we get access to the recording of the "phone group" and their discussion of "cleaning" sites- Bungie.net announces that they had been hacked and are basically cleaning up their site.

1b. Could this phone group be part of what eventually becomes Oni? If so, wouldn't Bungie, entertaining themselves, want to play that role?

1c. Wouldn't that mean that somewhere on Bungie.net there is a menu item with hidden data behind it?

2a. SOTA's website is a "Looking Glass" and either the Center or the "phone group" is behind it.

2b. The SOTA website has the hidden data on it.

3a. What the hell does this mean?

If so, the attack is coming from a "system". Sounds like "website hacking". That would kind of eliminate the Sites being physical locations.

I agree, we need to stop trying to brute force it. Doing so will just rip the curtian

I think the idea of the phone conversations is to blur the distinction between physical and internet sites. 4,000 does seem like a lot of physical sites to clean in 1 month. However, why would you need PPE for a website? Or need to delete a document from the EPA that deals with mold? That's the intent of the PM's I think. Keep us guessing until the entire conversation is complete.

Personally, I find it more fun that way.

Ok me and two friends had recorded the first message. One friend put it into Audacity ( Aduio Editing Program, very well one at that) found the pitches and tones. Then we found Telephone Dialing tone websites and took the numbers we got from the pin being typed in and matched them up as well with the Telephone Dialing Tone Charts. Just to make sure the numbers could be different we just did the whole rows. Ex. the first number was in the middle row then the second was in the right row and the third in the left row. So you write down 2,5,8,0 and then from all of those you write the right side row numbers and off those number you would put the left side row numbers.

Ex. So your numbers to try for the starting of 2 are 231, 234, 237,261, 264, 267, 291, 294, and 297. We did this for Starting of 2,5,8 and 0.

3-1,4,7
2 6-1,4,7
9-1,4,7

In conclusion none of these worked and we also tryed ( left, right, middle) Just in case. So we do not need to Brute Force are way in with a password, there will be more messages ( im thinking 7 and you all know why) so just be pacient.

Could be a red herring but....

I'm not sure if this helpful, but.... When you use the infected sites for coordinates, you get Baoji, China. What's that? Never heard of it? It is the birthplace of China and they just celebrated a lunar holiday the other day. There are many sacred sites in the mountain rainforest nearby, including temples devoted to "gods" that are thousands of years old. http://www.chinahotelsreservation.com/China_Baoji_travel.html

Again, it could be coincidence, but who knows?

Alternate

I also tried various websites using the infected site numbers. If you use 04 vs. 4 then you're one digit short of a phone number. Can anyone else think of how these numbers might coorelate to something?

If it weren't for the very last one, I'd think it could be. Personally, I don't think it matters at this point. There's not really anything Google can pull up that's related.

Recording #1 and recording #3 match up exactly when overlaid. When there is silence in #1 there is talking in #3. Also, recording #2 is a perfect continuation of recording #1. It's just interrupted by "thank you for calling, goodbye." So hopefully tomorrow's recording will match up with #2. It should, and then we'll have a whole 1:40 discussion to analyze.
