[OT] Bungie H3 Forums "Under Attack" All the sticky threads are not sticky any longer.
Most of AR's recent posts are gone.
A message posted by lukems of all people lends some light:
Quote:
Forum issues involving a hacked moderator account seem to be resolved. Not sure if we'll be able to recover some key threads that were lost in the fire, but Top Men will look into it in tomorrow a.m. For now, stop posting about "what happened" because your posts are just more clutter that Ninjas have to be redeployed to clean up.
Ninjas have had their accounts restored and are redeploying. The infractor in question has felt the cold, hard steel of the Banhammer in his most uncomfortable of places.
Yes, like the back of a Volkswagen.

Can we change this from being tagged as an update to [OT]?

But it is quite on-topic. This means that there will be no more AR posts in b.net forums. Is the same thing happening at HBO?

Why do you think this means there will be no more posts by AR? A moderator's account got hacked. Bungie admins have posted saying as much.
There were several very explicit posts by the moderator's account. This is not in game in the least.

I think I am almost ready to concede the point on the OT. After further research via HBO, a post from lukems sheds some light there as well:
: All the stickies in the Halo 3 forum on Bungie.net are gone, and ninjas are
: being blacklisted. NINJAS. Is that even possible ?
: Could be AR rated, could be a ninja gone mad, could be a hacker.
To quell this before it even starts to burn: It was a hacked moderator account. Nothing more. Sucks to lose a bunch of stuff that was there, though. We're looking into things.

Yeah, if they aren't referring to AR having hacked b.net then it is OT.

I am inclined to think that the hacking was staged by bungie. There is every indication that AR was and AI of some sort and what attacked it was also an AI. Therefore the having the AI go through and erase everything it could makes sense.
From at meta-game perspective, bungie isn't about to touch a private forum for a game stunt, which is why compountintelligence hasn't been touched. If it were just a hacker who was good enough to hack the forums and wanted to screw with the ARG then they would have gotten CI as well.

Good point with CI but i think there is more to it. There is no point in deleting those unless tomorrow we get a post from AR claiming responsibly.
