No, I think it was a mistake. The audio file was the same as the first time around, and server 2 is still not open.

I think they were messing around with something in preparation for an update tonight. According to Bungie, there is an H3 announcement at E3 tonight.

I think they're going to make an announcement and open the server at the same time.

I think so. Just look at B.net:
Quote:
In case you've just crawled out of a hole after sleeping for the last year, E3 begins tonight and Microsoft's Press Conference gets underway at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT. The goodly folks over at Xbox.com will be streaming the conference live for you to view over the Internetz. Additionally, it's probably worth your while to keep checking the Bungie.net Interwebz destination in case stuff and/or things occur that require your presence.

Dun dun dun.

I suppose we should also be entertaining the notion that this possible thing could occur on any of the sites involved... halo3.com, bungie.net, the press conference, forums, webcams (especially the webcams!)... I dunno, ILB made me paranoid about small details.

Man, I have this weird feeling that there server may or may not be opened, but that something during the xbox presentation will tip off the "SOTA" people, and they will "open up" registation on their website, and things will get rolling.

The pm's posing as sota people could happen, and through sota, we may actually unlock the server through research that they are privy too.

This really just seems to work, andwould really get the ball rolling.

Let's hope... and if nothing happens, well, i'll eat my hat.

EDIT: I may or may not have a hat present to eat...

Well, the post seems fairly specific to the "bungie.net interwebz destination." I think the front page is the most likely place we'll see something.

But where on the bungie.net site, they never said... I dunno - we just need to keep a good set of eyes on all portions of the site and sites bungie owns...

<sarcasm>
Come on guys. Microsoft sullying their E3 presentation over an ARG? What are they going to do, embed a url in a trailer for an upcoming game? That would never happen. Wink

I dunno about you but I was hoping they'd have an "electrical failure" and some cryptic movie would show on the screen over the stage... Smile

I can't tell the level of sarcasm there, if any... but the fact that they changed xbox.com to ilovebees.com, or allowed it to be done previously shows that, in fact, it could happen...

Plus if we we're to be shown perhaps a special video for halo 3 at e3, and it were to have something moderately hidden in there, then anything can happen.

That was actually what I was getting at. I was laying on the sarcasm heavily there. I thought the wink would give it away. I went back and added sarcasm tags to eliminate any future confusion.

My guess is it's the same 100 people and their codes, again.

This is to open Server 02, by the way. New thread?
