Please refer to my signature. It contains a link to the reference thread.

hey im not sure how IPs work but i did notice that slusho in the history thing is always capitalized all the way through except for the title of the history page. I did a litle ASII decoding and the numbers cam out like this

S=83
L= 76
U= 85
S= 83
H= 72
O= 79

when you line that up you get this

837685837279

im not sure if this will be of any use, but maybe its and IP address for a site or something.

This is my first post so im sorry if i sound like i dont know what im talking about

The farthest stretch...

ok, yeah so here it is.
why does a fish think of cheese? what possibility does a fish that hangs out near the ocean floor have of encountering cheese?

I dont know. but I think i may have found the inspiration for this rediculous puzzle.

after googling for "cheese ocean floor"

I got this at the top of my google results

Quote:
Cheese locations - Perfect Dark (Perfect Dark Recon)Hidden within every level of the game is a small piece of yellow cheese. .... Zoom in and you should see the cheese sitting out on the ocean floor. ...
perfectdark.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/pd/cheese/ - 24k - Cached - Similar pages - Note this

http://perfectdark.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/pd/cheese/

it's retarded I know but perhaps this is what inspired the puzzle, and perhaps someone may see a connection that I don't cause Im just in oatmeal brain mode right now.

If this were an IP then it would be 837.685.837.279 but each 3 digit grouping in an IP addy can be at most 255 (largest number possible with 8 bits) This cant be an IP address if that is the correct order of the numbers.

Wow. That was incredibly lame. They just regurgitated the stuff we've been talking about for days, and they just make it their own by saying they heard some rumor. People assume they are in the know, and the rumors they hear are somehow more valid. But their source is US. lame.

It wouldnt be so bad if they just gave credit to the source as opposed to "teh rumorz on teh internetz". AICN isnt the only one either, several sites seem to just be reporting "rumours" rather than saying that the info was from the IMDB boards or here.

One thing I enjoy so much about this ARG thing is the sense of community it creates between all of us borderline OCD cases obsessing over minutiae trying to solve a puzzle.

Not giving credit or even acknowledging where the info came from is disrespectful who the whole community.

But that's just my $0.02

Hello all, first time poster.... Hope I dont get anyone riled up with what I post, & I hope its all in a context relative to the thread. Just wanted to post some thoughts I had, to see if it might spark something in some of you out there.

I had not seen it posted elsewhere in this thread, but I could have missed something in my skimming of the 70ish some odd pages. There is a type of fish called Ganu Thora :

htttp://fishbase.mnhn.fr/ComNames/CommonNameSearchSpeciesList.cfm?CommonName=Ganu%20thora

I reference that because in his dream, Ganu was told to drink lots of the ingredient, & he changed from a small fish to a big whale.

Second, on the slusho front page, the fish that appears when you mouse over the 2nd & 6th "puddle" or drop (the one that says "fresh for you") is not a fish, but a whale. I am not sure if folks had been referring to it as a whale or fish, but I wanted to make the distinction in my post. When I was lookin at the page, I noticed it had the lines on its "chin", so I looked up whale, & found that the only types of whales with these "ventral pleats", are called rorquals. The previously mentioned pygmy whale is in this family of whales, as is a smaller whale, the northern minke whale. The baleen whales form a suborder of cetacea, called Mysticeti.

Link for the rorquals, & the whales in that family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rorqual

pointless link showing a hand drawing of the whale & ventral pleats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Baleen_Whale_Physical_Characteristics.svg

I ask that the readers here bear with me through the below info, & try to pick out any info that might be useful in other ways... I am just posting what sort of got pieced together this morning. First of all, I AM a Lovecraft fan, so I do want it to be something Lovecraftian, however, I am not bent on it being part of Lovecraft lore. This is pretty far reaching, I know... but it was just a line of thought that began in the shower, & something that very vaguely might fit together... bah, I dont know... I really feel dumb even posting it.. But

As I showered this AM, I was considering the slusho page, & synonyms for drinks that make a person feel refreshed, & I thought of the word tonic... I decided that I would go ahead & man-up & make a post about the whale/fish thing on the slusho page, & would mention the thing about the tonic as well. As I reviewed the info on the whale, & saw that it was of the suborder Mysticeti, I considered the idea that there is a river in mythical Arkham, Mass (made up town in Lovecraft lit) called the Miskatonic. So as a sort of "lets see" kind of thing, I went to check out the word "Ka" and found the wiki entry that states :

Quote:
Ka (life force)

The Ka (k3) was the concept of life force, the difference between a living and a dead person, death occurring when the ka left the body. The Ka was thought to be created by Khnum on a potter's wheel, or passed on to children via their father's semen.

The Egyptians also believed that the ka was sustained through food and drink. For this reason food and drink offerings were presented to the dead, though it was the kau (k3w) within the offerings (also known as kau) that was consumed, not the physical aspect. The ka was often represented in Egyptian iconography as a second image of the individual, leading earlier works to attempt to translate ka as double.

Julian Jaynes in his theoretical work The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind suggests that the "ka" originally was a hallucinated god-voice similar to that experienced in schizophrenia. According to his theory, most people were not fully conscious in the early ancient period, and hence his theory is regarded as fringe by the mainstream.

Giacomo Borioni proposes in his work "Der Ka aus religionswissenschaftlicher Sicht" that, according to Friedrich Junge, the Ka was the "self" of a human being.

A symbol for Ka can be found here

http://www.egyptianmyths.net/ka.htm

So in his dream, Ganu is a tiny fish who is approached by a big whale (his mother was a fish, thats so Faulkner, heh) & told to drink something to change him. So he drinks & undergoes a physical change. IRL Ganu goes on to make the best refreshment ever.

His mother is a whale of the sub order MYSticeti

In his dream he undergoes a physical change where his conciousness or Ka remains intact, not unlike the Egyptians believed happened to your conciousness when you died.

Ganu then created the Slusho!, the best refreshment/tonic ever.

MysKaTonic Miskatonic

One last thing that came to mind, with the countless posts showing numbers from notes, morse code, or w/e included in this thread, I also wanted to post Lovecrafts coordinates from his Call of Cthulhu short story... The actual coordinates of the city of R'lyeh (where Cthulhu waits dreaming) were 47°9′S, 123°43′W in the south Pacific. This was also close to a sound recorded called "The Bloop" at 50° S 100° W. I found this out while lookin at something else, but I am not the first person to make the connection, as its listed on the wiki entry at :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop

Where you can also hear The Bloop there... I think I read that some ppl speculated that The Bloop was the sound that we hear in the trailer, sped up.

I feel pretty dumb posting this, & pray not to get overflamed for it... I just considered that alot of the threads are really reaching, so I would post my own thoughts on it in this particular thread, since most of what I have put into words here, are based off of breadcrumbs I followed up from the Slusho! page.

be kind, I am new.

Grendl, there's a Lovecraft/Cthulhu inspired game that's being played right now that may interest you. It's called Eldridge Errors, and we're not so deep into the game that catching up would be difficult. Take a look... http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=219
