That doesn't sound like the Slusho history even in the slightest.

We're talking about a story of family obsession and tragedy, weird gigantic sea creatures (gods) that command people to do stuff, and humans transforming into aquatic life. That has Lovecraft written all over it. And it'd make more for a way more interesting movie than a straight run from the monster movie. I mean, if it's just one big monster the movie is going to be pretty short. It would involve getting the hell out of town and that's it.

The story seems to imply that the creature isnt commanding anyone to do anything. If anything it implies some kind of mutation, but we already know it's "just one big monster". The movie is described, as being a throwback to the old giant monster movies of the 50s and 60s, like Godzilla or Rodan.

Also, there is no indication whatsoever, either in the trailor or the Slusho story, of any sort of "gods" or people being commanded to do anything. The story has very little similarity to Lovecraft, speaking as someone who read that stuff once or twice Lovecraftian stories are usually quite misanthropic and focused on bizarre, unspeakable (and impossible to visualize) type monsters. Read "The Color out of Space" once, thats basically what most Lovecraft stories are like. The monster is some unseen, unknowable god-like monster from outer space who wants to do bad things for the sake of bad things. It's not even that good, actually, having read several of the stories i dont see where the attraction is myself.

We know from the houses mouth its "just" a monster movie. There is no indication whatsoever it's about Cthulhu at all, that was an assumption made by people who were guessing at the nature of the monster. Along with the theory it's Voltron, Godzilla and The Smoke Monster from Lost. To be frank by the description, sparse as it is, given by the studio and various movie sites and looking at the Slusho story it's most likely something like Godzilla, Gorgo, Rodan etc etc.

The Slusho story is the key here which is what i realized almost immediately after reading it. It just leaped out at me. The tone is rediculously serious in certain parts then completely absurd in others, but if you trim the retarded "shill soft drink" stuff away it tells a story about some kind of monster, mutation-causing compound, or both.

Like i said the best guess i have after looking at it is that this chick either went out there and became some giant monster, or found one, or found soem substance that makes people become giant monsters. One way or another her son brings back whatever she found to land, probably New York, and this chain of events leads to the chaos seen in the trailer.

There are absolutely no hints towards a Lovecraft based story, or anything involving Cthulhu. The reason many people originally came up with this idea was from the Ethan Haas websites, when they were believed to be connected with this trailer. But since anything Ethan Haas related has been discredited, people are trying to grasp at any clue they can that alludes to a Lovecraftian storyline.

If you don't think a slumbering tentacled sea monster who's been disturbed by humans and goes on a rampage is Lovecraftian...I don't know what to tell ya. Go read The Call of Cthulhu.

as previously noted, that explains the fiery objects that fly out after the explosion.

Where did you get a slumbering tentacled sea monster from the trailor? There is a whole genre of movies and stories about giant monsters attacking things. All we know about this monster is that it can roar, it is huge, and it is alive.

1. It's been leaked that it is a sea monster. The slusho "history" supports this.
2. You can see what appears to be a tentacle in the smoke, especially just before the statue of liberty's head is thrown.
3. The slusho history suggests to me that they use a rare undersea ingredient to make it. The dream that the guy has seems VERY Cthulhu-esque to me. The monster basically said "come let me out" to him in a dream, and he does just that (likely by accident; trying to get more of the ingredient).

Nothing in the trailer or websites suggests anything about a tentacled sea monster. And just for the record, I know Lovecraft very well, having read anything I can get my hands on that he has even touched or influenced. He's my second favorite writer of all time, and I'm an avid reader.

Your grasping at very vague ideas and forming too much from them. ANd I haven't seen or heard anything about a tentacle being seen in the trailer.

Downloads page music

Just wanted to pipe in on the Downloads page music.

I have the site up right now in Safari and there is no music. I had it up for most of the day at work using IE6 and it also had no music. I did not try IE7, Netscape, or Firefox though.

So if this Ethan Haas website isn't apart of the trailer. What the hell is it then? I mean everyone stops talking about when it's discredited from the movie. What are y'alls ideas of what that site is about? It's obvisouly something tied into some sort of medium. Is it another movie? A game? What?

One GIANT link that people are making that has not been substantiated at all is that Slusho has anything to do with the monster. Sure it has to do with the movie and it's kinda weird, but there is no evidence that it created/helped spawn a giant pissed monster.

That all assumes that:

A--this "tendril in the smoke" (any relation to Gorillas in the Mist? Razz ) is actually there. I doubt it is and would need to see concrete evidence to believe that.

B--this "dream" was actually a dream, and not something else. It says he became a "huge whale", that could be literal, or not. It depends on how one interprets the story but i'd lead towards literal.

C--that a sea monster most connect it to tendrils and Cthulhu. You know that every sea monster is not a tentacled beast like Cthulhu, example: Godzilla, a giant humanoud T-Rex.

There is no connection to Cthulhu in the trailer, the website, the Slusho story or anything related to the story whatsoever. Not in an official way, nor in the ARG. I dont even know why Cthulhu was the first thing so many people assumed, as a giant squid, giant lizard or even an alien invasion all could easily fit the trailer, which by the way doesnt even focus on water at all.

It's a tabletop RPG coming out called Alpha Omega, by Mindstorm Labs. There seems to be separate ARG going on involving it, which is quiet interesting.

the best explanation I've heard is that it's promo material for 2012: The War for Souls. or another one of paramount's forthcoming films.

I'm not seeing this. Got any screenshots pointing out the tentacle?

Cthulhu lives underwater in a forgotten city. He's essentially a giant squid god.
