Ok...I'm trying to help here....this is insane ;-p

I just started a thread on PLOT THEORIES - the thread to discuss and hash out and speculate on what you guys think this movies is about.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=351439#351439

If you have thoughts on the matter or come up with some juicy theories please go *there* and post them instead of here - this thread is specifically for the topic of SLUSHO and how that ties into 1-18, what SLUSHO is about.

Thanks

PS if you want to copy/paste that above stuff you posted here and put it there, that would be great. If you deleted them from here too, even better ;-p

This might be just another "You see what your eye lets you" kinda thing. But I was looking around on youtube and this guy had a good about the smoke between the betweens as the camera pans out. It looks like the smoke figure outline of an animal...(T-Rex to narrow it down) Anyone else heard this?

If you define "Lovecraftian" as anything even REMOTELY similar to a story Lovecraft wrote then that is an absurdly wide definition. Using that logic i can define anything remotely like War of the Worlds as an HG Wells story...which would be practically every alien invasion movie ever made.

actually: in Lovecraft's work, there are TWO groups of bad guys. They are separate. There are "the great old ones" which are, like Cthulhu, old gods who want to eat you.

THEN there's a completely different group, and they're from space.

I HIGHLY doubt JJ Abrams had the slusho history page made just to screw around. "Hay guys! I know we're paying for the webhosting and the webmaster, but let's write complete cryptic-sounding jibberish here! wouldn't that be funny?"

I'm not saying that it's completely unrelated to teh movie. I just highly doubt that the entire movie is just a giant monster destroying New York and that's it. Slusho definitely has backstory which may or may not have to do with the monster. It could just be a company that Rob's life or somebody else's life revolves around. I mean Slusho = in the movie, but Slush does not necessarily = created/spawned the monster in one way or another. There are probably other sites out there that we haven't found yet.

So we who want to focus on slusho should just take this as a Censored off then?

Look, Lovecraft wasnt the only author to ever write about space monsters, rogue gods and evil demons and stuff. If you want i can go back to the old Greek myths and show where a lot of the stuff frome Lovecraft originated there, and we can go back further to primitive man and Animism from there, and so on and so forth.

Just like HG Wells' War of the Worlds was a highly influencial book, not every alien invasion story takes from it, nor was it completely original either.

In many ways every story is connected in some way or another, as no one can come up with a completely solely original idea.

To define anything that fits that incredibly broad concept as "Lovecraftian" would belittle thousands of writers all over the world by implying their stories are merely "ripped off" of some other writer whose books have become monolithic.

And i've read Lovecraft before, i dont particuarly like it, but i'm sure i'm more well versed in the myhos than most people.

Anyway, my thought so far is to follow the Slusho trail. I think it's far simpler than it looks. Indeed as i said i think the story relates to us, in a fanciful tone, the story of the film. Or backstory anyway. I think we should try to sort out the story in a way thats more serious and straightforward than the way it's written on the site to see what it may or may not mean.

I posted this awhile ago as well... It seems to be a decent enough story about cthulhu. Watch the trailer if you want... Seems waaay diff. than our trailer.

No offense, but we need less threads about this whole mess. It's getting confusing flipping back and forth between multiple threads, when the discussion is all generally on the same topic, and not staying specified in the manner you're wanting it to. It would be much easier to have one main thread, and have the threadstarter periodically update the original post so that others can easily keep up. Flipping back and forth through multiple threads is extremely annoying and kind of confusing.

None taken....and to that I ask you

Would you rather have one thread with 500 pages you have zero real intention of reading, or would you rather have half a dozen focused topics on different things that we're discussing, so that you can find them easier and quicker depending on what you want to discuss?

It's called organization, and no offense, some of us do read and pay attention and actually want to work out what is being presented to us in an orderly manner over wild speculation and mindless posting with repetition and covering the same shit that's been covered, handled, pages earlier.

This thread is focused on slusho. Not what this movie is about. Not whether it has Lovecraftian influence.

It's also irritating for those who come here for the slusho link to have to wade thru an irrelevant debate with pictues over cthulu and lovecraft.

Now this is 3 threads this same debate is being taken. I tried to be helpful and set up ONE central spot for this very discussion...PLOT THEORIES...and there's complaing and gnashing of teeth?

If people don't want to read what's happened before, they don't have a solid enough attention span and have little to contribute other than just yapping. If they don't want to read, they don't read and therefore don't find the various topic threads...they hit the one with 500 pages then say they don't wanna backread?

K.

The threads aren't going to be specifically as you wish, and this is all pertaining to one centerpiece. Personally, I sense more orginization in keeping the discussion confined in a smaller area, with regular updates of the original post when something has been discovered in any relevant field. But of course we all have different ways we like to organize things. Laughing

They would if people would slow down for a second and pay attention...

Well that aint our problem, that's their problem. After 100 pages over there someone just asked for a summary of what we know so far. My point is this: Before you get to that thread to post the question you're already on the main page with a whole list of threads, several devoted to 1-18. You see the damn threads....but you pick the one with over 100 pages and say you don't wanna bother reading anything or browsing, you just want the flow to halt so you can get on....instead of, when you're on the list page just finding one that matches what you're after, OR, god forbid, clicking on page one and reading a few from the beginning to see how it kicked off, then middle somewhere to get the heads up.

Here's how to solve it...and if this is too hard, perhaps they don't need to try to play to begin with...the content's far out of their league already

You just asked for one central spot. I set one up. How irritating could it be to click THAT LINK instead of THIS LINK and continue your lovecraft debate there?

K enough of that....

I got a burning queston.

What's yall's take on Slusho! Zoom!

Obvious choice: instructions. In the thread of doom, Al said something about zooming in on the donkey bubble and it looks like there's text there.

Other than zoom as in zoom in....what other context could it be?

Okay, I mega-zoomed in on the donkey bubbles, and there isn't any text. Just too small blue lines to make the bubbles look realistic.

Unfortunately it is hard to think of anything other than zooming in because it seems so obvious. lol
The second thing that came to mind though was because of the jp set up of the site. Slusho Zoom! sounds like a cheesy attack/power/ability ala Power Rangers, anime, etc. lol

How that would fit in I have no idea. Unless there is a way to make one of the cups do something.

I've been zooming for the last 20 minutes on that damn donkey and his bubbles and thought bubbles to no avail.

*sigh*
