What if WE are "the Parasite" and we created this monster through our pollution? Hm!

That is a wonderful and new idea. No sarcasm.

I can't figure how Slusho history could work exactly into that idea, but with the hints about the water, maybe dumping in the water has something to do with it?

And to me the SOL head scene is not just of a monster that is blowing stuff up, but one that is PISSED at New York, and at America specifically because it's such a symbolic representation of everything we (are supposed to) stand for. So, maybe it's.. one animal that got crazy huge from the toxic stuff we dumped? Lots of animals fused together to form one huge monster (stretching I think)? Or maybe something ancient in the water that has come awake due to our actions?

I also like the idea that maybe "Slusho" is taking something from the water, and whatever it is has made something want to come get it back. It reminds me of that Futurama episode where they discover popplers, eat Billions of popplers, only to find out that they were alien children and the aliens want revenge.

I think that the kiddie 'front' of Slusho is covering up something a lot darker and that Rob knows what's going on.

Mitten cheese solved?

Okay so I took another look at the mitten and the cheese and two things came to me that I hadn't looked at : Blue holes.
Blue holes are giant underwater caverns, is this the solve for the mystery of the mitten cheese? Possibly.

Hi, I am new to the whole ARG thing but this 1/18/08 thing has got me interested. Probably a bad thing since I have an addictive personality.

Anyway I have transcribed the "Slusho!" theme song. Its pretty simple: 1 bar in C Major, in 4/4 timing at a tempo of 85 bpm the melody is composed based on 5 notes A-C-E-F-G. There is a Melody line, a Bass line and a Harmony line. I didn't transcribe the harmony line as it seems to be the same as the melody line with a buzzy-arpeggiated synth sound.

That's good work. I think it may be an octave too high.

When I did this yesterday (though I didn't put it on sheet music), I doubled the tempo so that the theme fit into two measures instead of one.

The harmony is different from the melody, though. At least the second half is in actualy harmony to the melody and includes some accidentals. It moves too fast for me to get a good fix on it, but with more time I think I could.

EDIT: For those of you who are all about the "We have to do research!!", his post is what good research looks like. He took something we have, which may or may not be a clue, and analyzed it as thoroughly as he could. He let us know what he did and did not do with it, so that someone else could come along behind and complete the work if they chose.

He didn't introduce any random non-game elements into speculation or anything like that. He just took the clue he had and started to break it down into another form. Good job!

here's what I'm seeing

1. Honshu was referenced in the History. I found it interesting that they would put an exact location in the "fairy tale".

2. In the Main menu the buttons each produce a different animal head if you place the cursor on it more than once. (Going from left to right).

(1) Horse Head
(2) Fish - Frog
(3) Duck - Frog
(4) Duck - Horse Head
(5) Horse Head
(6) Fish

Note: the art asset for the Frog and Fish have not been used in any of the other pages yet where as the other assets have in some respect.

New info!!!
Ganu found something real

This part of the story got me intrigued:

Quote:
And one fateful day, he and his teammates discovered a deep sea ingredient
unique to anything else!!!! While the team pondered miraculous ways to use it,
Ganu had the best idea of all!! .......
He decided he would make his mother's dream live - make the tastiest drink,
unlike anything on earth! Because the ingredient was discovered on the deep
ocean floor, under amazing pressure and in the most extreme cold, Ganu
knew he had to serve the ingredient in a near-frozen state to preserve its
freshness!!

Matisse painting

So i'm sure most of you have heard about the Matisse painting that showed up on Noriko Yoshida's website. It's titled "Beasts of the Sea." What's interesting about this is that Norika was described as being the smallest whale in the story on the history of Slusho, and that Ganu grew into a huge whale once he ate the newly discovered secret; basically they were beasts of the sea. This could be possibly meaningless, but an interesting find nonetheless.

Any other ideas?

This is completely random, but I'm wanting to see this turn out as RAMPAGE the movie. Anyone else remember that video game? If the leads on the "A toxic industry's junk" anagram go anywhere, it could lead to mutated animals, and thus the products of the Rampage video game. Man that would be rad...

Pygmy whales-aka "the littlest whale"(s) produce this substance called ambergris.
Quote:
Ambergris (Ambra grisea, Ambre gris, ambergrease, or grey amber) is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish color, with the shades being variegated like marble. It possesses a peculiar sweet, earthy odor similar to isopropyl alcohol. Now largely replaced by synthetics, it is occasionally still used as a fixative in perfumery.

Ambergris was also molded, dried, decorated and worn as jewellery, particularly during the Renaissance. It was often formed into beads.

Quote:
Ambergris occurs as a biliary secretion of the intestines of the sperm whale, and can be found floating upon the sea, or in the sand near the coast. Because giant squids' beaks have been found embedded within lumps of ambergris, scientists have theorized that the whale's intestine produces the substance as a means of facilitating the passage of hard, sharp objects that the whale might have inadvertently eaten. Ambergris can be found in the Atlantic Ocean; on the coasts of Brazil and Madagascar; also on the coast of Africa, of the East Indies, The Maldives, mainland China, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand and the Molucca islands. However, most commercially collected ambergris came from the Bahama Islands, Providence Island, etc. It is also sometimes found in the abdomens of whales.

as for previously not alive whales located in NYC look here:

Maybe helpful?

This subject was discussed before (although no one posted that wiki link). There was talk about lake Vostok - which is a completely isolated lake UNDER Antarctica. It was discovered recently (but not explored). They reported that the lake might be the home to yet-undiscovered bacteria that can survive in those extreme conditions.

So, maybe a current-events monster movie? Perhaps the secret ingredient in Slusho comes from lake Vostok?

It's all just theories. I guess I'm just posting this so if it turns out to be true, I can say: "Look at this post! I knew what the movie would be about back in July!!!" Very Happy

I thought the same, but after seeing Bay deliver with Transformers, I was reassured that a movie of that magnitude isn't too far fetched. With the success that has followed Abrams, I have no doubt that IF someone were to pull it off, he would be one of the few.

Although it would be extremely difficult to get the monsters to have an appearance that doesn't come across as cartoony and have a story that isn't trite and/or lame.

Sorry, but I can't get behind that. Rampage is tonally inconsistent with what this trailer succeeds in delivering.

It depresses me that anyone would want a movie so full of potential to be reduced to something so banal as a cheesy videogame.

I'm going to put this to an end right now

IT IS NOT RAMPAGE.

Abrams has been reported as saying that it is NOT an adaptation of anything, it is not a remake, it is not a prequel or a sequel- this is an entirely new concept.

Not to mention in rampage it is SCUM SODA, not frickin Slusho.

So let's keep the conversation on here dedicated to all things Slusho!
