Interesting for sure...

Lastly, there are graphics for reversed (like looking at it in a mirror) thought balloons. Specifically the some about "You will come back soon!". Not sure why those would even be there for any reason.

I looked and it seems like some of the bubbles on the right side (of Slusho cup or History panel) are just reversed on the left. Maybe that's why?

Since it's something that I overlooked before, and something that would easily be overlooked for a long time and might have something to it after all, I'll confirm how mine show up, using latest version of Firefox and Flash player:

Customer Feedback: Will appear as Horse, on the left side, as long as I don't mouseover again before it disappears. If I mouseover the button before the animal disappears, it will alternate between Horse on the left and Fish on the right. Additionally, if I mouse over JUST as the thought bubble disappears, NOTHING will appear.

Store: Always alternates, starting with Fish on the right, followed by Frog on the left, back to Fish on the right again.

Downloads: Will begin with the opposite-side animal than the button before it. (If there was an animal on the left from the previous button, the animal from this button appears on the right; and vice-versa) UNLESS it was Horse on the left side before it, then Frog appears on the left side. The animals alternate between Frog on the left and Duck on the right.

History: Will begin with the opposite-side animal than the button before it, UNLESS it was Fish on the right side before it, then Duck will appear on the right side. Otherwise it alternates between Horse on the left and Duck on the right.

Happy Talk: Same exact action as Customer Feedback.

Flavors: Will alternate between Fish on the right and NOTHING, starting with Fish.

That's how it works for me. Your mileage may vary.

This is an EXACT description of how it works on my screen, down to the last bubble.

Meaning:

a) each button has two animals, one on each side

b) each button has different criterias for what side is shown first, and what makes the second animal show. Which is odd. Why dont they all go from left to right, or right to left, or at least opposite from previous buttons last animal?
Why don't they all do it the same way..? Lots of unnecessary coding, wouldnt you say..? Are they just trying to make it seem random?

I think all the above is just the artifacts of the mouseover effect in flash. Would be more then happy for somebody to prove me wrong though.

Just for the record:
All the animals start with d or f. Left to right: D, F, F, D, D, F.

Feel free to make something of it.

I've disassembled all the Flash files of the site and looked at every line of code, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary or anything "special". No apparent hidden clicks or counters, no strange URLs, nothing...

The only thing I've seen is that the sitemap references SWF files that don't exist, but the code compensates for that; if it fails, it will show the blurb as being unavailable. That means that, at any time, they can upload a unseen SWF file without modifying the original and it'll work right out of the box.

So, if there's something hidden, it has to be on a page or separate site that's not directly linked. In other words, guess at a URL.

Don't the Japanese read right to left? Maybe that may explain some of the quirks people are seeing, a bi-lingual website? unfortunately I can't see anything at the moment apart from the hypnotic orange and yellow thing, that will teach me for trying a beta version of flash for linux.

I posted this in the other thread, but since I was searching for slusho stuff, thought I'd put it here as well.

Ok, so I *have* read all 194 pages Surprised up to this point, and I've done ARG's in the past *yay for me*... I started looking at the history on slusho again and began searching on one part at a time. I chose the "secret ingredient", and did a google search for "ocean floor pressure extreme cold", and found the following:
http://www.resa.net/nasa/ocean_methane.htm

Yes, the site is OOG as far as I can tell - thought it was an interesting article, which may give some springboard to the slusho searches.

Wow, I only got through about 110 pages of this thread! Wink

This was a cool (pun intended) article! I also thought the other wikipedia post about the psychrophiles was interesting- particularly their interest to astrobiology (read: aliens). All of this relating to strange things: A donkey and a fish swimming close to the ocean floor. The donkey (who shouldn't be there- not, at least, without SCUBA gear) is thinking of an oven mitt, used to handle things that are too hot, the fish is thinking of swiss cheese, whose holes are formed when bacteria in the cheese release gases! Hmm... Also, when ice melts it would be "slushy" and it is VERY warm in NYC for mid-January, as others have pointed out.

I don't think this is going to be easy to figure out! Everyone had theories for the Lost monster- dinosaur, robot, etc. Turned out to be... a conscious poof of smoke? Okay...

What if even J.J. Abrams doesn't even know and is scanning these forums for the best idea? I'm totally kidding, but that would be pretty funny... Laughing

Okay, enough "pondering," back to looking for the next step...

Has anyone achieved success on translating the song into a phone number?

I think this is our next step, since it's potenitally an obvious clue and we haven't discounted it yet.

I'm personally hoping it turns into a url for us to go to.

Perhaps the F and D are factors somehow, that is a strange coincidence, but it also assumes donkey > horse.

Another note, in IE the drops of slusho only have ONE animal per and one side per and its the same every single time as i stated it. Since you firefox users get random or changing patterns, either there is nothing to it, or some of us are wrong about the order. I would suggest we walk away from this topic or find an order that the majority has to branch from that if thres anything even there.

not sure. I thought of that too, but after listening to it for 5 hours straight lastnight in the background i came up with a basic 4 and 8 count and nothing more.

I get the same exact thing in IE as I do in FF. I am seeing no difference between the two.

As a matter of fact there should be 0 difference between browsers because Flash is an independent platform from either.

Okay so if theres nothing funny in the code, as you say then that leaves 3 options.

there are visual clues that we simply DO NOT GET.

The music is a code. see http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=168823 for an example

or they havent put them in yet, which I refuse to believe as they don't have a lot of time, and it would totally kill the momentum they created with that trailer. If they wanted to wait, they would have put the trailer in front of a different later movie or just start showing it on TV.

I have been looking into this since witress#2 came up with the idea. There are two problems.

First there are only 9 notes you would need 10 for a # with an area code. There is a slight bend up from the last note in the melody from E to G but I don't know if I would count that as an extra note... maybe but it feels a little forced.

Second I haven't been able to find an actual scale covering the entire touch tone keypad. I have done a bit of research into the process known as Duel Tone Multi-Frequency which is used for making tones on a touch tone phone by using a 3x4 array frequencies. In other words each button has two notes based on 7 different possible tones (see attached image).

For what it's worth here is a list of notes that roughly corrospond to the 7 different frequencies.

F = 697Hz
G = 770Hz
Between A & G# = 852Hz
A# = 941Hz
D = 1209Hz
E = 1336Hz
F# = 1477Hz

To make the sound for button 1 you would combine F-697Hz with D-1209Hz. This is a rather dissonant 2 note interval, and I suppose you could call it as F or D. Also Wikipedia Lists the first row (going down) as D E and F#, it seems more likely that they mean (going across).

The truth is that since each button can be two tones and each row of three shares a common tone there is no way (that I have found) to be sure that the numbers would be right without some sort of cipher, The whole purpose of DTMF was to make tones that can't be easily classified into a scale. I imagine that who ever made the Slusho! website would have run into the same issues.

I am still looking into this and some other ideas, maybe I am missing something.

I think visual and audio clues, which will lead to guessing sub-domains, URLs, etc... is the way to go.

Abrams himself said that there are "other sites out there that haven't been found yet." He didn't say that there *will be* site; he said that there ARE sites.

Over time, as was the case with the Lost ARG, sites may change due to significant events, but that was based on the show's plot and progression. Until the movie's released, there really isn't any progression other than the sites themselves.

Finally found the site to get the Slusho.jp registrar info...
http://whois.jprs.jp/?key=SLUSHO.JP

It's Satoshi's only registered site.
