Yeah, I re-reviewed my information and edited my post accordingly. My bad. Do we see him on the roof? I see one possibility in the guy standing alone who has slightly curly hair and similar clothing, but I can't say definitely.

Also, one thing I noticed as being odd was that behind his right shoulder was a thyme plant. It's barely noticable during the end part of the trailer.

My money is that it was a surprise party for Rob, Rob having just come back from work on a friday or something. Actually, scratch that, it DEFINITELY IS a surprise party as he comes home, because at the beginning of the clip the blonde girl goes "shhhh he's here" and then the entire effing party yells "SUPRISE!!!!!!"

I bet he has a roommate, which is likely the Slusho guy, but is not necessarily. It may be the guy he's with at the beginning who takes his picture as they yell out suprise. I do believe it is his place at least in part due to the abundance of Japanese paraphernalia.

Upon further inspection I'd bet Slushoman is his roommate seeing as he suggests they go to the roof, having prior knowledge of the layout and access to the roof of their apartment.

Just an idea... but maybe Rob works for Slusho and he got the shirt for his friend? And maybe that's why he's going to Japan?

I don't think anybody has ever disputed that, given the obvious. What is speculation is that Rob comes home, that he has a roommate either way, that roomie would be slusho guy, that it was an apartment either way.

But I think it's been pretty much a moot issue that it's a surprise party for Rob, and even less of a question that it's a going away party for Rob.


So...back to the topic at hand. Do you have any ideas about the content of the slusho site and why so many unnecessary exclamation marks? Or what might be the significance of the thought bubbles for the creatures who don't belong in the water? Or whether Satoshi is Ganu's cousin, or what may have really happened to Noriko, or who to locate Ganu, or why it would be that the website is presenting their company history as if presenting it to an 8 year old, or what the mystery ingredient might be? Or if the secret ingredient makes slushos blue in color? And WTFing sam hell Slusho! Zoom! is supposed to mean?


Just a note on the slusho tshirt - logo shirts are usually given away or sold as promo marketing items. So it's a safe bet that either the slusho is (ingame speaking) available in the US with local offices or plants, or one of these characters is an employee of Slusho. While it might seem that Rob's the obvious choice of being the employee, it was the other guy actually wearing the slusho shirt...which raises the question of where he got it. It's speculation, of course, but these people could all be coworkers (only in movies does anybody have 50 damn friends willing to throw a bash like that....coworkers, tho, tend to do that sort of thing when one of their own "makes it" or is leaving....)

It could be that the core group (minus the girlfriends/boyfriends) all work together for a US based Slusho operation and had some prior awareness about what might be taking place. Just tossing it out.

Slusho guy could be like many guys irl, and if you give them a tshirt, they don't much give a shit what's on it, it's another tshirt (which prevents them from having to dress up for anywhere).

None of that is really relevant - the thread question is more where did the slusho guy get the tshirt...or where did the tshirt come from...directly from the company, or was it pawned off on someone, or in a slusho related shop somewhere?


Seems to me this drink is being primarily marketed to kids...and the whale transformation part is metaphor but the story itself of the history is the gist of what happened in grownup land, but is being filtered down to be appealing to kids. That's a little screwy if ya ask me (and pretend you did), the site is on the level of Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues...and I'm willing to wager, based on 24 years of parenting 3 boys, that kids in the age bracket the site appears to be aimed at would never actually read the history one way or the other...let alone *could* read it.

So what...mommie and daddy sit the kid down at the computer and read the history story to the kid who likely doesn't give a shit, and who would likely be far more interested in the neat characters, even tho after about 45 seconds of realizing they can't fire at them or make them do anything, the attention span drops to sub zero and the kid's all squirmy to get down and go play.....

If it wasn't 5am I'd go get my 8yo and let him have a look at the slusho site and see what he could come up with....then again, I'm kinda scared he'd zero in on "the obvious" in 2 seconds and I'd have to go stick my head in the toilet and flush from humiliation....

You gotta take into concideration that the world has gone from party to absolutely insane for them during the last half hour, not unlike what it musta felt like to see the World Trade Center explode with your own eyes during a regular day, and before you figured out what the hell is going on and processed it a bit, thats gotta leave you rather numb. I mean, I just watched it on tv, and Im not even american, and I still felt quite paralyzed. When the second plane hit, I was still in such a state of disbelief I hardly reacted accordingly. I think they captured that feeling rather well. (Sorry if the comparision is unseemly, but there hasnt really been anything else of that magnitude to compare with, so I hope Im forgiven.) I would think just not understanding what just happened is enough to make your reactions a bit a confused and slowmo. And you dont panic constantly for over 30 minutes.

This is my two cents aswell, that is the connection, and the reason why Rob is the lead character of the movie. Rob is being transfered to Japan by his employer, Slusho.

Thats where his friend got the shirt from. Thats why he's dressed a bit on the casual side. And thats possibly even what all the red cups in the party are about.


Edit: Oh yes. Theres a monster too. I see. Hm.

I like tinag's explanation of the party. If it was a party thrown by Co-Workers and friends, and not just friends, it would explain why they would go on the roof after the news said it was an earthquake (I mean who runs towards the roof after an earthquake seriously?). Maybe the explosion is the lab or something where they worked for Slusho? Thats how they know where to look, and instead of running away with the crowd in a panic, they stand in the middle of the street to see whats going on.

"Looks like you should have left town a little bit earlier" - Said by someone who works with Rob knowing something happened at the lab forcing Rob to stay in town to take care of it?

Also if it were a lab monster with some sort of intelligence, all the attacks, the fireballs and the SoL head, are focused towards the parties location (revenge?).

If it were a PoV movie of the people from the party, having the monster chasing them for revenge, would make the Movie style somewhat viable.

Can't explain the SoL head in this situation though, secret underwater base?

i think the cups are our best shot...

i first thought that maybe it was binary....

that didn't seem to lead anywhere... even when i added a 1 to the beginning to compensate for the big full cup in the middle. i also tried this backwords, and broke it up in to groups of six. nothing significant looking...

there are 19 letters.... if there were 18, I'd be more encouraged.
