Who says it's a planet?

Something extremely similar happens on the cellular level when a virus infects a cell. The images are of normal spectrum/MRI/Thermal scans...and the images in the top righthand corners mean something, but I have absolutely zero clue what.

Ofcourse, the same could be said about the Flood infecting an entire planet. It's just changing "cellular" to "galactic".

Just saying

It has a center

What if we're spending too much time looking at the fore front and should be thinking a bit more about the planet. Like someone mentioned, it is awefully red. Mars? Don't know, just a thought. What if they're trying to show us where the infestation came from, it's center. The picutres of the star lit sky with the symbol pinpointing an area of space, then a picture of a star with a planet in the back ground, a warm planet. Is this a known planetary system? could it's co-ordinates in space mean something? I don't know how 719Hz would tie into that... I just thought I'd throw it out there. I think I've read all the posts and didn't come accross anything quite like it, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents... in case it kicked off a thought in someone else.

Do we know what hemmispher the shot of the stary night are from? Does anyone recognize any constellations we can land mark with to determine which star, or area of space is high lighted? The suggestion of having marked the two pictures with the symbol as an indication of time passing, as well as a grid to measure distance by is a handy way of determining it's distance from where the picture was taken. One planet every 16 hours (I can't remember what it was... sorry)... how many stars/planets dissappear from one picture to the other? I've sent an e-mail to the Astronomy department at the Univercity of British Columbia... I'm not expecting much, but if I hear anything I'll pass it on.

Sorry if this sounds lame.

It's actually a fairly well thought out idea I think. I would like to find out if we can figure that out. The only problem that I can think of is that the amount of disappearence is going to be based on planetary rotation. And different planets are going to have different rotational speeds. So unless the images were taken from Earth, we couldn't know for sure what the rotational speed is.

I was looking around, and remembered the theory that the 719hz may be referring to a pulsar, so I looked that up, and found this link on how pulsars are born. What interests me, and how it ties into this thread, is that the second image on that page, looks pretty close to the third image at the top on the infestation picture. The whole thing could be a time lapse image of a star becoming a pulsar.

edit: corrected spelling, and included a direct link to the specific image

This is exactly how I found the source image. Started at pulsars (and seeing the similarity you saw), then to binary stars, to binary planets, to realizing that one had to be a star based on the corona, to infrared images of stars & satelites/planets in close orbit, to realizing the Game masters would probably have used a public domain image, to national archives, Nasa & JPL. After that it was 2-3 minutes of looking through the JPL gallery. (FYI. JPL email address was once used in the Cortana letters, & Nasa is referenced on the SOTA website. Bungie likes the government websites: FBI, EPA, etc)

The GMs picked this image for a reason. They had to go looking for Infrared images, Sonogram images, Thermals, etc to build this picture. What for?

What is the motive for seeking out an artist's rendition of an infrared scan of planet & star, then overlaying a sonogram image? The two seem fairly specific choices. The sound file was decoded with a spectrogram. Are we supposed to use some other scan for another clue?

If they just wanted a "spacey" looking image they could have drawn one just as fast as they did the searching & photoshopping. I think we found everything we were supposed to find in the 719 file, but I feel like we missed something here.

Confused

Searching the vast untamed wastes of the internet, I found this on Bungie, of all places.

Look familiar at all?
