The discolouring around "Lascano, Platt and Robbie - Jan 2008" on the 12:04 pic is really bugging me. Was it labeled after the party? In that case, at least someone survived 1/18. I'm sure it doesn't mean anything major, we won't find out the monster from a little discolouration, but boy it pisses me off.

Bad Photoshop job?

I notciced that too..maybe its just there to piss us off..like they are tryinhg to mess with us..it seems like they have been lately

there was a lot of drinking at that party, maybe someone blew chunks on it.

It wouldn't have been labeled after the party - I don't think Jamie would be talking about her "hotness far and wide" and Rob's trip to Japan after just surviving a monster attack on NYC. It had to be done at the party - someone was able to make hardcopies right then and there to give to Rob as going away momentos. That's why only the party pics have writing on the back.

I think the discoloration looks like white-out. That may mean something.

Even if it did, what are you doing to do? Rub the White-Out off of a digital picture?

To me, it just looks as if someone put their thumb there while the ink was still wet, and it smudged a little. That's all.

That's crazy, I just clicked back over to this thread to say the exact same thing. High five...

damn straight!

and, camel31, you're right - they are well-traveled. That could mean a lot of things, but the most obvious is: Parents/families have money. One possibility (that's been kicked around on the 'suspicious Rob' thread) is that Rob & Hawk's Dad is somehow directly involved in the backstory (whatever it turns out to be). The kids could all hang out b/c their families are somehow connected to each other, i.e., if Rob's Dad is involved, other parents might be involved too. I dunno, though - sounds too much like Heroes.

Still, they've all been around a lot. We might want to keep track of all the different places they've been, from pics and comments, etc. Might be important.

Already been addressed, and it may be white out

It has to be IG given what's been handed over here....and that makes it a character site, whether we've encountered said character or still have to figure it out - and that raises the obvious question of how does this person have photos dated 1-18-08 when it's JULY? And why do at least 2 of these people contemplate what it'd be like, or wish it could happen, to zip into the future? The future thing may not ultimately have relevance, but it's kinda hard not to see it if you consider 1-18 site fully IN GAME and by IG I mean character driven about characters.

If this is supposed to make any sense at all, I think it does make sense in that there is a group of people who would be able to put those "future photos" on 1-18-08.com and also put the myspace pages up while still keeping to some logical trajectory--the moviemakers themselves. I'm not trying to state the obvious. What I mean is that this may not be an ARG at all, or not one that people have become accustomed to. I've been thinking for a while that the point here might be that we ourselves are participating in the lives of these characters:

1) It's been said over and over again that the entire film will be made as if by camcorders (we know that's not technically true, given the CGI, but it will be made to look that way);

2) A first-person perspective film taken "overnight" will not likely have much of a backstory, or any character development beyond the minimalist type that you see in conventional monster flicks, so Bad Robot may be prompting us to play a role in creating that story;

3) The decision to leave the comments open on the video pages at MS--when they could have easily blocked them or made them subject to approval--suggests the same thing. Otherwise, it is a mistake for them to leave the comments open, because at some point, at least one of the characters would have to comment on all the bizarre warnings about things to come in January. If they don't then the pages aren't doing what they should do--make these characters real.

In short, perhaps we have been given an outline of what happens on 1-18-08, who the people are that are going to be affected, and (so far) a meaningless association with a non-existent product called Slusho. It is our job to fill in the rest. I think it would be more than just a blackboard for us to project our fantasies; eventually, there may be some recognition by the characters themselves that something weird is happening. If we see evidence of that on the myspace pages, then that would be the proof that we are participating in the making of this film. The disaster that was Snakes on a Plane was caused by the filmmakers having no particular ideas at all; maybe here they have all the main plot details and character sketches laid out, but they are willing to let the public create the details.

Well, whaddya know? I might have actually been right about something (more or less). They deleted the vid comments, which takes out the whole "prophetic warnings" angle, but the characters are indeed interacting, meaning that we are participating in creating the back-story. Perhaps we might even have a role in the plot itself. Very interesting.

As your elder and your better let me just say I wholeheartedly agree. We will play an important part in this movie. We will be the flame the charachters gather round like moths on an Autumn breeze. They shall alight on our hearts and we shall lead them to their doom in the great bugzapper that is Rob's going away party. Razz

the blond chick

If the blonde chick in 12:04 is holding a HD camera, then can't the other pics taken by different people. Which then leads me to think that the whole story will be told from different perspectives

Guys, don't go to crazy with the whole "We're writing the back story" and what not. People who go see the movie who never looked into it more then just the trailor are still going to have to be able to enjoy it. Same with the critics. I mean you can't expect Ebert and Ropert to sit on there computer for hours trying to figure this puzzle out.

This is just a little game for the fans to play and get more people interested in the movie.

I'd say if it's more about back story and such, it'd be in the sense of you'll be okay if you don't pay attention to it and the movie will be self-standing, but if you wanted to get more involved and get a little bit more, it's there.

Do you really think that a 30 million dollar project is relying on us random assed people on the net for a back story? They might rely on us for a little buzz around the film, but for the back story? And for a film that is already shooting and will be in post-production before you can say the name of the film?

I salute all of you water-heads, I am in awe.

I almost lol'd, probably due to a lack of a haircut on your part and any comedy at all. Maybe you should script your next movie, i hear that helps people who are naturally unfunny.
