Yeah. Neil Blonkamp was the guy slated to direct the halo movie before short-sighted executives pulled the plug. So Neil, Bungie and WETA have teamed up to make this short and probably more. I honestly think some of the "low quality" shots in that little short film were intentional.
Although some parts did look a little odd, I'll concede that. I totally missed the spaceship the first time I watched the start of the video. Go me. Haha.

I loved the way he did it... I like the neill blomkamp's style. Instead of most sci-fi, he tries to make the more sci-fi parts of sci-fi not as.... sci-fi... It's hard for me to describe... I like... (He doesn't seem to glorify sci-fi aspects of his work and I can't wait to see the next short)

The studio didn't pull the plug. They just didn't play ball. Everyone says this movie is dead but it isn't. Peter Jackson has said that he will make this movie with Neil Blomkamp. But he isn't going to force it out. He'll need the budget and support of a studio that wants to make this movie. Not just another action flick video game cross over.
I mean, come one, the guys that made lord of the rings are going to make the halo movie.
Also I wouldn't call them "low quality" shots. They're realistic, Blomkamp makes sci-fi documentary style shorts.

Yeah I agree. He doesn't go for the "OH WOAH" style of sci-fi. Everything I've seen him do takes the "Well this is normal everyday activity here" style approach. I think it works well.
[Edit] That's what I mean. Peter Jackson never stopped making the film, and I recall bungie saying that the movie was still going ahead regardless. These shorts are proof that WETA is hard at work [/EDIT]

First time I saw it, I thought it was another cooler trailer for halo wars. I mean resource production, recruitment, the whole nine yards.

There looks to be a glyph overlayed in the first shot imo.

There is a vauge statement around the video in general. At the press conference peter moore said that the short offered "a new chance to believe"
A similar statement appears on the description of the video on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
A new chance to believe that the Halo movie is back on? Or what?

All of the above, plus a new chance to beleave in the chances of the human race.
I downloaded this to my Zune, and I'm tempted to pause it at the bar code scene, and try to scan it somewhere

It's on my zune too. That's a crazy idea. We should try it just because.

Only problem is that each store has specific barcode systems in their system.

This isn't a half bad idea. Just so happens I work for a barcode scanning company. I'll see if I can't find a scanner that'll do an off screen scan.
I'll post later today to let you know what I find.
*edit* eh nevermind. the image is not good enough to scan. the barcode in the middle of the neck is too crowded.
