I tried destegging the pic from Gabriels AIM page using the phrase 'Be Observant' in different variations. No luck. First time I tried my hand at it though, so I am not 100% I'm doing it right.

That's nothing. It's just part of AOL's visitor counter and stats.
the catch(e) means catch exceptions. So it's saying if something goes wrong, don't do anything.

remember... you're looking for a hidden puzzle to prove you're worthy, folks.
Which can only be seen when highlighted on afallenlife's AIM page.
I also found this brief update when clicking on the information bubble in AIM next to a77mericaneagle's screanname:
Buddy Updates:
AIM Profile Update: afallenlife : dude, did you just hear that...21 hours ago.
There is some extra to this but I dont know how to view it. Im not 100% with AIM. Can anyone else find this?
sorry for the double post but i seen it too..and its (wont let me just copy and paste)
"afllenlife:dude, did you just hear that? ---there something happening in my town. i need your help. ---" theres some dashes and dots? anyone know morse?

There are morse translators online. Just google for it.
Or post the dots and dashes, and we'll se what we can do. Heck, post them anyway - for completions sake.

the periods and the spaces seem outta place for someone freaking out? so it would be like ---.. --- again if thats what it is....

"---" is "O" in Morse, and "." is "B".
The dots I wouldn't think much about, looking at their profiles and the AIM convo they both seem to use ellipses quite a bit when typing, and use weird punctuation (ending a one word post with a period), so unless the password is a bunch of "S"s and "B"s, it's probably nothing.
