[SPEC] Interesting find on b.net? This is an interesting post on b.net found on HBO.

Do we think that this is in anyway connected?

I read that b.net post with some amusement until I realised that the poster was being serious.
Too much free time, a blurring of the line between fiction and fact, and a generous helping of paranoia came together to make that post.
Treat it as an object lesson in what happens when you start to analyse everything and start looking for patterns/puzzles everywhere. The guy needs a new hobby - preferably one that doesn't involve any sharp implements.
In short; no I don't think it's connected...
...but thank you for keeping us up-to-date

That was just Bungie's plan to start the Iraq war as a distraction so they could send Frankie in to mow the little grass that's there into Marathon logos. They decided not to use this in the ARG, though, for fear it could be negative publicity.

That was amusing. I liked the streetlight thread, good stuff there.
I did find that red lake a little weird, anyone know what could have caused that?
Edit: spelling

I agree. That red water is freaky. And also that enormous collection of massive circles somewhere in Oregon. What the hell could that possibly be for?

There's a type of irrigation that uses a massive rotating arm that sprays water on the crops in a massive circle... while these circles seem to be much bigger than any of the machines i've seen, it could just be a bigger version.
I'll try to find a picture to link for you!

Sorry, I can't look at the post (work internet blocks) but as for red water:
There's a biological phenomenon called the "red tide" that occurs every year or so in the Gulf of Mexico (and happens elsewhere less often) caused by Karenia brevis, a dinoflagellate (think sperm-like) protist (algae) that contains brown to red pigments used in photosynthesis.
Basically, algae blooms of an incredible density (which happen regularly, once again) can turn the color of water red, just as plants look green (high chlorophyll) and dark-skinned people (high melatonin) look brown.
/start off-topic interesting remarks
They often cause massive fish-kills, though are far less deadly than something like Pfiesteria piscicida, which is found off the coast of my homestate of North Carolina. These can cause permanent brain damage and often melt the skin off of animals. They can also band together to act as free-floating "attack cells" that defend themselves from natural predators. Oh, they can also lay dormant and become practically invincible when no food is found. In fact, they are ancient organisms that existed thousands or millions of years ago off the coast of Africa, but slowly washed to America over the years before awakening.
/end off-topic interesting remarks
So, it could be a picture of an algae bloom. FYI it is one of the many things that scientific historians have stated had freakishly coincided in Egypt back in the days of Exodus. So, whether you think coincidence or divine wrath, it is the First Plague of Egypt, causing the Nile and its tributaries to run red like blood.

its probably not red tide, but thanks for the idea though. The village is in Iraq, between the Tigris and the Euphrates. Theres these wide lakes all right next to each other, probably a quarter of a mile long (Im bad at distances though). Theyre all normal Dark green/blue except for this one, its bright red, and theres not a spot in it untouched, like the whole lakes filled with red jell-o

Well, stagnant water (lake) is the most likely to get an algae bloom, but if it's bright red I'd say it probably isn't.
So, can someone please quote the post instead of linking to it? It'd be great if I could see the stuff. Sorry about any inconvenience.
Also any pics that aren't just linked to (off of bungie) I'd need to be posted somewhere too. Sorry.
Interested in this, though!

Ummmm...
Hey Vossk would you mind tidying up the links so the page isn't stretched, please?
If you don't know how then just type "" after the link. Then type some text you want to see displayed in place of the url and finish it all off with ""
that way you get something that looks like this:

Anyways, give me a few minutes.

Yeah it's all in Baghdad.
I don't want to get political, but with W and co. over there, it really might be blood. Just for reference zoom out a little and the color goes away. Don't really know what that means. (Obviously taken at different times though.)
Wow that guy's a crack. Any type of circle he sees is automatically the marathon logo. Jeesh.
