Strange video...
I received a link to this video today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3NdavEZlC8

The message in the description reads:

It's in pig latin.

There's also a megaupload link in the description. It's for a picture of a box of Tide. I'm not sure what to do with it, though, so I'm attaching it for others to figure out, as I'm low on time right now.

 		I received the same message, I found three words in the file, I am sure I am missing more. I can anyone tell what the phone 'tones' at the beginning are? A phone is repeated in the video at about 5:57 in, showing someone either dialing or texting perhaps? I am at work right now so I will check later.

 		i ran stegdetect on the picture and got nothin...
i dont know why, but this video felt like a quit smoking ad to me for some reason...

I disagree. I figured the image must be stegged. I tried all the words I saw in the video(QUIT WHY DONT), even the ones on the guy's shirt(recycle your ?record? collection) I also double-checked the image with a hex editior, and my guess is that it was stegged with Camo. There is a large chunk of hex after the end of the jpg, about 4kb of extra hex that has no place in the image. Unfortunately, that's all I can get out of it, I tried saving the extra portion as a text file, but got nothing.

 		OK. I managed to figure out the password. My method might be considered 'cheating,' so I'm spoilering it, along with the clue. In my defense, the password had no relation, in any way I can see, to the 8 minutes of video that was supposed to yield it.

This is what I did;

Looking through the hex of the jpg, I realized it was stegged with Camouflage, because the way camo stegs images is by adding the 'hidden message' onto the end of the picture file. The hex code FF D9 signals the end of a jpeg image, so by looking through the hex of a jpeg, if it doesn't end it FF D9, you can assume there is something else there, and when it comes to steganography, it was more than likely with with camo. After determining that, I set my sights on the password. If you study the way camo works with passwords, you will see that the password remains in the hex, but encrypted with a weak XOR encryption. After decrypting the password hex, I discovered the password:
camouflage
The image was stegged with a RTF text file called "Hearts Are Always Killed URL," there was only one line of text in the file; "www.heartsarealwayskilled.blogspot.com"

Dammit. Dammit. Dammit. Why didn't I screencap it? When I went there the first time there was a message along the lines of "Congratulations on getting the text from my voice." And then some stuff written kind of nonsensically about 'what was going on' from a character's perspective, and very vague and veiled.

Now I go there, and that entry has been erased, replaced with one that says only;
"Give me a call OK"

EDIT:: After the post changed, I figured the "Give me a call, OK" post was in reference to the DTMF tones at the beginning of the video. I grabbed a DTMF tone decoder, and recorded the tones at the beginning. They translate to;

Which is odd, because there are 11 digits, Phone numbers in the States have 10, unless you count the country-code(1) when dialing from a land line. This number obviously doesn't start with 1, but it does end with 1. I wonder if the number is backwards. I'm going to try calling it.

 		OK, The number is definitely backwards, there is a message that will play when you call. I've recorded it, and transcribed it as best I can.
Here is the transcription;

Don't worry though it doesn't mean I'm self inclusive and I mean that. It all just traces back to moments of time anyways I suppose, at least from my perspective.

I'm not sure if that's what he means. I think we were originally supposed to get the password by playing the audio backwards, in which case the phone number would have played the right way through. I still wouldn't have decoded the tones until he gave us that nudge though. Either way, on we go.
