I definitely know that your personal information is protected by the Data Protection Act 1998. To the extent that if someone sends out a global e-mail then all the recipients should be BCC'd so that no-one gets another person's e-mail address (PMs take note!). They cannot give out or sell on your information without having got your prior permission. More information about the act and the related Freedom of Information Act is here: http://www.ico.gov.uk/

With respect to laws on competitions with cash prizes I don't know. I think the laws will depend on whether the competition is defined as a lottery or gambling of some sort or whether it's actually a contest based on ability.

Are you guys updating the despoiler site as we go along? Because I personally don't find posts that say "I found it, it was easy" not that helpful or even conveying useful info, without including stuff like the actual clue or the hint to the answer. Although I guess those sorts of posts can be morale boosters to anyone worried about how hard it is going to be to find the next piece. One at a time.

Have they sold anymore? Nope.

Anyone who finds something they don't want to post here can PM me and I will be glad to post it.

I suppose I can sign up myself and post the clues here. It seems like too much trouble though.

Clues

So far I have Word 1, Word 3 and Word 4 (if I am correct). Have to take a break.

The website is easy to find because the anagram tool really helps. This is how I found it right away.

Clue 1, word 1: The anagram tool helped alot and got it right away - check out all the

links on the left,
and use the anagram tool.

Clue 1, word 2: This was a little harder as the anagram tool didn't help as much, but if you look at all the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
links on the left
and check all the letters in the word you should be able to find it.

Clue 1, word 3: Use the anagram tool - it comes right up.

The word I found after following instructions one of the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
name brands

hope that helps to get you started.

Well first, you're right about the 'morale booster' - since the previous piece was ridiculous by comparison, it's nice to know this one is much more do-able. My intent wasn't along the lines of "I got it so easily, I'm awesome" =P

Second, to be honest, while I greatly enjoy the idea of a website that posts answers due to the freedom of information, I still do prefer to 'follow the rules' as it were. I avoid looking at the wiki for answers, and I won't post to the wiki, and I'd prefer not to 'indirectly' post to it either. Yes, the information is out there, but I don't want to be one to make it readily accessible. I guess you could say that part of the challenge isn't just the fun of finding the pieces, but also the challenge of following the rules laid out, even if it means I'm at a disadvantage *shrug*... it's similar in fashion to the issue of whether PMs can run an ARG and lay out rules for the players, or if rules should be entirely left up the players (within generally accepted etiquette) as the ARG progresses.

Anyhow, that's my (long) reasoning for the post and lack of involvement with the wiki Wink I'm playing the same way I played Dr.Pepper's Hunt, exactly as expected, without that expectation that everyone else do the same. And that's just my own choice of how to play (I'm not saying any other way is wrong or bad or cheating).

All cheers for despoiler.org! Laughing
