Would a moderator be so kind as to fix that spoiler tag so that those of us who like trying to solve these things don't stumble across the answer like that?

Sad

The site - I had right away. Have not found the pieces yet - the clues have been no help to me - except I could figure out the first clue in clue 1 (the magazine).

I got the site easily, got the clues, thought I had the 1st & second word till I saw how many letters they were supposed to have - EEEK! I do have the 3rd word.

Palm, what magazine?

Edit: I have the first 3 words - the last 2 have me stumped

Hello - I am a day behind - was gone. I was talking about yesterday's puzzle (Sat.), and the 1st piece clue, clue 1 - the clue was about a magazine and it's authors and a very simple search on google produced the name of the magazine which is a link on the page.

Well, Zaecus, if you don't want to stumble across such hints, Perplexorum doesn't reveal as much in this way.

Edit to fix URL tags - RedHatty

I don't know why you chose to respond, but it's possible that you're trying to drum up business for Perplexorum, so I'll respond as if that is the case.

I looked over the Perplexorum forums for this game, and they're a sick joke, imo. So many of the posts that were getting censored were posts from people looking for help who needed to provide information in order to be helped effectively. These posts were interspersed with posts telling people that if they really wanted help, they needed to provide more information so people would know what they needed help with.

Seeing this in a forum that developed to facilitate -community- and shared effort, quite honestly, disgusts me.

If that's not so much a problem anymore, it's not because of any effective work at arbitrary thuggery on the part of the Perplexorum staff in exchange for the pretty little ribbon saying "official forum"; it's because of these boards and despoiler. The people who want real help are going elsewhere to get it because there -is- an elsewhere to go.

Until despoiler went up, I avoided these forums until I'd found my pieces. Now that it's up, I can come here and, sometimes, find useful clues--as I assume nearly everyone does at some point for some clue, and so far, -looking- at hints and such hasn't been written into the ToS as against the rules (which is good, as that is practically unenforceable).

Spoiler tags exist precisely so that people can decide how much information they want to get, and the other poster tried to honor that by using it in just such a manner.

So no thanks, I'll not support a board that is so willing, even eager, to violate the very spirit in which such communities exist in the first place, one of community and cooperation.

I'd like to defend dormin and confirm that they are not tyying to 'drum up business for Perplexorum', so I guess that makes your post irrelevant.

As a Perplexorum staff member, I can say that what we've been doing has been to:
-Comply with the rules of the game, so that everyone can enjoy it as intended. We have some great members that have signed up soley for Golden Jigsaw. Some of these people are new to ARG type games and are not used to the whole creating clues and collaborating within the rules of the game attitude. We're moderating posts which breach the ToS of the game, and we're also encouraging people to create clues and share them. We have not changed our terms of service to accomodate this game.

Perplexorum is a great place for communities. We've not had a single complaint from Golden Jigsaw players, we've only had negative comments directed at us because of the running of the game. If you have any problems with the way the game is run, you can take them up with the people who run the game. If you have any problems with the running of Perplexorum and the games it hosts, you can contact me at marcSPLATperplexorum.com. Alternatively, you could just ignore what we're doing and then no hard feelings are caused.

Catfight!

Let's try not to get something riled up here. Perplexorum does things differently than uF and that's okay, just like how the people in either or both communities like to play different ways (and that's okay, too). It seems to me it's better to have more choices about where and how you want to participate, so long as we keep encouraging people to participate in the communities in the first place. Smile
