Well we all knew it would happen

Just recieved this by e-mail

Hi there,

This is to let you know that the closing date for entries to the Golden Jigsaw is now set at 11.59pm GMT on 30th October 2007.

All remaining pieces will be placed on a list of sites that we will send to you and published on the Golden Jigsaw site on Wednesday the 17th October. No difficult clues or puzzles to find these pieces – they will all be there for you to find if you look for them.

Due to the numbers of players currently involved in the game, you stand a very real chance of winning. So all you have to do is find the pieces in the next couple of weeks, complete your jigsaw and submit it using the submission button before the time on the closing date above. The winners will be announced and contacted within a week of that date.

I apologize personally to all those players who have invested so much of their time in the Golden Jigsaw, and would like to take this opportunity to say that, whatever you might have heard or read in forums on the internet, we developed this game in good faith, with the sole intention that we could do something new and interesting on the web. We had very big ambitions for it, in hindsight a bit too big, but all the things we have learned along the way have been truly amazing and invaluable.

Believe me, nobody is more disappointed than myself or my team, who have worked tirelessly 24/7 to try and make the Golden Jigsaw work for everyone, that we didn't find the perfect solution. To those who are still playing or who have played in the past, I thank you sincerely and wish you all the very best of luck in winning a share of the guaranteed prize fund.

Just remember – the Golden Jigsaw will go NUTS on the 17th October – I hope you enjoy the last ride!

Kind regards,

Julian Hanford

We should have started a pool for the date of implosion.

I know I've been (almost) unreasonably harsh with this game. I believed that their business plan was so flawed that they couldn't possibly in good faith think it would work. I could have erred in assuming they knew what they were doing. It didn't seem plausible that they wouldn't have done a minimum of research.

And, you know, there they were promising a million dollar prize that they didn't have and didn't appear likely to have. That tipped it over into the "scam" territory for me.

Just my opinion, of course. Your view may vary. Now that it is ending, it may not matter any more.

I hope someone wins and has a good time with it. The jigsaw puzzle part of this looked like so much fun to try to do.

Good luck to anyone who is still left!

What bothered me the most is all the time we invested in the beginning, and then they just let out the pieces on their pages, so haven't continued. Hope someone here wins.

Just searched the website and there is not a mention of them ending it. They still have the page up for people to buy pieces. I do wonder if trading standards should have been told about them.

I tried to get someone to look into it, under the premise that they haven't been deliberately trying to mishandle things, collect information for misuse, or cheat anyone but were just misguided and needed assistance.

I got an email response saying they needed more information, and I could call them or email them again. I'm not up for an undirected overseas phone call, and the email they responded from doesn't accept responses, so that ended my ability to do anything, and they didn't actually say what information they needed.

As messed up as everything has been, I really do believe this is likely a case of the people running things being misguided and not malicious.

final e-mail

Just received the e-mail with the links to all the sites which hold all the missing pieces,
There seems to only be 304 pieces available !!
In the e-mail they claim that iwantoneofthose.com has already got 8 pieces on it's site but according to the site they only have 5 orginal pieces so i can see that no-one is going to win this.
I'm plodding though to get the pieces from the list just to see if i can submit my puzzle or not.
Will keep you updated Rolling Eyes

Update and Surprize

Well had another e-mail and guess what they had made an error, they sent you to a website that didn't have any new pieces on it. Also they included a link to the 696 pieces which are on the website but you can't find them from just looking at the site.
