Another wrong list

I am new to Deus City, but I have caught up and figured I would contribute. The following list is wrong (posted for reference).

Williams Syndrome
Turner Syndrome
Huntington's Disease
Prader-Willi Syndrome
Sickle-cell anaemia
Down Syndrome
Treacher Collins Syndrome
Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome
Cri du Chat Syndrome
Marfan Syndrome
Klinefelter's Syndrome
Cystic Fibrosis
Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Bloom Syndrome

It might make things easier if we seperate out the ones that are the most accurate from the ones that we aren't sure about. I have noticed that a few of these could be one of several similar diseases.

I would be astonished if 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, or 12 were wrong. 5 is also definitely sickle cell, but who knows about formating. Pretty sure that's the same case for 8.

Welcome abroad!

well. Klinefelter Syndrome is correct. XXY is definitely Klinefelter. Although they could be looking for its other two names which are:

47,XXY

or

XXY Syndrome

Maybe. I still feel like Klinefelter's is right. On another note, I'm pretty sure #1 is not Williams. I was thinking maybe Aarskog-Scott Syndrome. Check it out on wikipedia.

I thought it was just me

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. It is definitely not there anymore.

Does this happen often?

Not to my knowledge, no. I'm hoping they've just taken it down to replace it with a better, less keybash-y puzzle, and will refund people - especially TGI Fridays - their credits.

Well, one can hope. :p

Thanks for thinking of me, shuri, but you're not the only one with more than one account. Smile I haven't really lost much on this one, so I don't need a refund. I'm not sure the puzzle is flawed, I just think the pms realized either (A) we would just have to randomly guess 1000 times until we got it, which is kind of ridiculous or (B) the pms would basically have to give us the whole thing through hints, which kind of defeats the purpose of solving the puzzle.

It was a good try though and an interesting puzzle. Some of the clues were just a little vague.

Hope something else pops up in the Red District soon. Maybe Mercer's new art center?

Hi. I just recently joined the ranks of T.I.A agents. I was actually drawn to DC by this particular puzzle, since I'm studying genetics. This is the list I've managed to compile:

1) Pontocerebellar hypoplasia

2) Turner syndrome

3) Possible choices: Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, Achondroplasia, Huntington's disease, Haemophilia C, Muenke syndrome, and quite a few others...

4) Prader-Willi syndrome

5) Sickle-cell disease (anaemia)

6) Down syndrome (Down's syndrome)

7) Treacher Collins syndrome (Treacher Collins mandibulofacial dysostosis, Franceschetti-Zwahlen-Klein syndrome)

Cool Possible choices: Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, AD, 181350 (3); Cardiomyopathy, dilated, 1A, 115200 (3); Lipodystrophy, familial partial, 151660 (3);Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, AR, 604929 (3); Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease,type 2B1, 605588 (3); Muscular dystrophy, limb-girdle, type 1B, 159001 (3); Mandibuloacral dysplasia, 248370 (3); Hutchinson-Gilford progeria, 176670 (3); LDHCP syndrome, 608056 (3); Werner syndrome, atypical, 277700 (3); Myopathy, early-onset, and progeroid features, 176670 (3); Restrictive dermopathy, lethal, 275210 (3); Cardiomyopathy, dilated, with quadriceps myopathy, 607920 (3)

9) Cri-du-chat syndrome

10) Possible choices: Marfan syndrome, 154700 (3); Shprintzen-Goldberg syndrome,182212 (3); Ectopia lentis, familial, 129600 (3); MASS syndrome, 604308 (3); Weill-Marchesani syndrome, dominant, 608328 (3); Aortic aneurysm, ascending,and dissection (3). --- Most likely Marfan syndrome

11) Klinefelter's syndrome

12) Cystic fibrosis

13) Duchenne muscular dystrophy

14) Possible choices: Tay-Sach(')s disease, Bloom('s) syndrome, Tyrosin(a)emia, Autism --- I'd go for Tay-Sachs

I find some of the pointers a bit too vague. I assume it would be logical to pick the most common or notorious ones. The varying spelling of the diseases also presents a problem.
