You're a genius, and I guess you (like the rest of us) have got nothing to do 'til the next piece of the puzzle reveals itself. Smile

Ha! I love the Cthulhu quote.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen any rabid Cthulhu fans in at least 24 hours. Great days are amongst us...

Suck it, suckers!

That flaming biker is well deserved. Jeez.

Ok...someone PLEASE, tell me what was in that link. I know i'm not going to click it now, as i fear it's some horrific shock site, but i must know...please?

Anyway...back on topic?

If the movie is done in Blair Witch style all this speculation on how the characters "react" and such is moot. Obviously no backstory whatsoever can be actively portrayed in such a style, just the straight forward observation of the characters as they deal with the monster.

As such the only way that they could fit a back story into such a film would be so contrived as to be rediculous. It'd basically have to be that the characters stumble upon some scientist and, for no reason at all, he explains to them in detail the origin and nature of the monster or some such.

Personally i hope it's just a normally filmed movie. While i liked Blair Witch quite a bit, that style is extremely hard to do with certain types of movies that require the usual "third person omniscient observo-camera" veiw to keep the plot rolling. For example, imagine Aliens in that style, or a Friday the 13th movie? It'd be impossible.

Yeah, no kidding - this has been pointed out and argued again and again on various threads. It's Blair Witch style, so the less backstory and explanation, the better, etc. etc. etc.

Still - since there seems to be an ARG attached to the movie (or, as I prefer to think of it - a movie attached to the ARG), then there can still be reactions or clues that go unexplained in the movie, but that have significance to those who've been playing along and know the backstory. So, Rob & Hawk might still know something - a standard movie viewer would be oblivious to it, but we in the know would get more out of it, etc. It's a possibility.

Re: [SPEC] Suspicious Rob...
He knows something..

I was taking a look back through the trailer in HD trying to find somethnig we have missed. It may be my imagination, but I think that I have found another indication that Rob knows something about what is going on in the trailer.

If you watch the brief scene after the lights come on (after the 'earthquake' and just before the newscast) when everyone is rushing to the windows, Rob is doing the opposite, moving away. Not neccessarily suspicious....but look at the look on his face, that definitely looks like what he has heard / seen is confirming his worst fears....

I would be interested on your thoughts, am I seeing things or is his behaviour and facial expressions in tune with ome one who knows something the rest do not?

Edit: Tagged. -SpaceBass

I thought he just looked extremely nervous because he was scared.
Not because he knew something. Different people react to things differently. Some get overexcited, others start bawling, and some are just indifferent until they know somethings going down.

Maybe it would fit if we later find out his occupation has something to do with oceanography or something along those lines...

Not sure if it goes here or in the Trailer/Pics analysis, but here at least people have mentioned the alleged "earthquake". There was no earthquake and no indication of one; the camera-holder (apparently HUD), just jerked the camera around when the roar sounded and lights flickered. Things get jostled a bit by people being surprised, but there's no indication of any disruption to things in the room when the lights go back on. Everyone looks apprehensive, not just Rob; and he does look out the window and then turns around toward the camera and wipes his forehead. I think there's nothing here.

I think everyone's saying "earthquake" only in reference to the subtitle in the newscast in the trailer.
