Sorry, little meta aside here from a site admin

Finally, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the puppetmasters are reading this, and perhaps even posting anonymously. They have to be ready to do that sort of thing anyway, just in case something in the game goes horribly wrong.

I'm still working my way thru all the EHWR threads, so I'm coming to this a little late. I just wanted to clarify, for the record, that this forum is strictly out of game, and that no Puppetmasters who have read and agreed to the Terms of Service will be posting here, either anonymously or otherwise (if they know what's good for them.)

I just want to disabuse anyone of the notion that there are PM posts in these game threads. When the admins find them, we delete them and the user is banned until he/she agrees to adhere to the TOS.

Again, any information that comes from the PMs will be through their own websites and channels, and NOT via Unfiction.

ethanhaas.org
Ruchbah link

I hope this is the correct thread, I've been following this for a while and my understanding is that EHWR is NOT related to 01/18/08 at all.

But on www.ethanhaas.org there is a link to the first 4 journal pages as well as links for 01/18/08.

I realize this may already be out there, but trying to sort through all of the threads is giving me a headache. Confused

Can someone help me understand?

"ethanhaas.org" is not a legitimate site; it's a fan-based site. Anything you find there should not be considered part of this game as that site is not a reputable, officially verified and sanctioned source of information.

I did see the messages regarding ethanhaas.org as a fansite based on its creation date and the fact that it was registered through godaddy.com, so I think I'm with you there.

But just a few days ago, B!X had commented that he used unconventional means to find 2 additional sites with the Ruchbah journal page.

What I'm wondering is that if the people running ethanhaas.org used these same methods to find the Ruchbah page, wouldn't they have found the other site as well? Why provide only one link?

I'm not meaning to stir up settled questions. Just wondering out loud. Confused

Well, what do you know... Both links come up on Google.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ruchbah

Since Google isn't really considered "unorthodox", here they are.

Ruchbah
http://kbfm314008.com/
...and...
http://u458402w.com/

Now, how did these come up on Google? Either Google somehow crawled them through another site reference, or someone SUBMITTED them to Google...?

*EDIT* Something to note...

http://www.crystalinks.com/cassiopeia.html

Quote:
The last two stars, nearest Polaris, share one name, Ruchbah, from Arabic for "the knee".

Maybe that explains two links to Ruchbah?

*EDIT #2*

http://www.scenta.co.uk/tcaep/astronomy/constellations/cas.htm

That leaves the following named stars:

Segin
Shedir
Achird
Marfak

...but we can't really go by that. Gamma Cassiopeia (listed on that page as "27gam Cas") isn't "named".

Google searches for the above brings up a truckload of pages.

I post on the forum on ethanhaas.org(excellent forum)...

***sigh...***

Be warned: these are the same people that are fueling misinformation with their home page. And the people that post there are horribly, horribly confused.

THIS is an excellent forum all round, for this and every other game hosted.

Do not take as truth everything that's mentioned over there... they still believe that this is related to Cloverfield, and they still believe the Cloverfield monster is Cthulhu...

I just find the forum better organized you have your cloverfield and ethan haas sections than sub forums for every topic-- easy to use for reference for either games...

Now back on topic:
Doesnt it strike any one as odd that the newest journal pages came up fairly easy on google search-- crappy puppetmastering or was is done deliberatley?

That is what I find curious. The links in Google have no description and no source.

As far as I know, there are only two ways for a link to appear in Google search results:

1) The domain is linked from some page that Google crawls.

2) Somebody manually sudmitted the link to the search engine through a service, or submitted the URL for crawling.

I think it's #2 above because if you put "kbfm314008" in to the Google search, the Ruckbah page is the *only* page that comes up.

I know that everyone is obsessed with the ruchbah page right now. But has anyone else noticed that Gamma Cas is the only page that does not have a black border? All of the others have a thick black border, Gamma Cass does not.

Ah, look. I go away to Comic-Con, come back, and the two journal URLs have been found.

I wonder if all of those people who said I was lying will come back and say, "Oh, I guess you weren't." Heh.

So how DID you find them so early?

You can message me privately me if you like.

before these 2 were found, did the others come up in google like they do now? Or were they all added to google at the same time?

I went to domaintools.com and spent $4.50 for the list of other domains at the same IP address as MSL and the other journal sites.

You can do that? That's... well... scary.

Google cache for both the new URLs is dated July 25th, 2007 10:50:30 GMT. Beyond that, there's no way of knowing when they appeared in Google.
