Guys, I really can't tell what that is supposed to be.. Blown up and sharpened it doesn't look like an è either.. See what you think.

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m69/tweekitten/hj.png

Also, I'm trying out anything I can think of with this code, here is a list of "failed methods" so far:

using b u c i i t l è h o q b:

-It's not ROT.
-Since we have no key it doesn't seem to be viginere, beaufort or any other cipher like that. (I have tried going through a bunch using 'Help me' as a key though)
-I don't get any anagrams in english or french
-Grasping straws I've tried to encode it into hex and then decode it as octal and vice versa. Nothing, what a surprise. Laughing

I've tried most of the simple key methods as well, but used "saveme" as the key since it was on the back of the card. I've also tried columnar disposition and rail fence alterations to no avail.

I think the character actually looks like an upside down cédille. I promise you there is nothing French about the backwoods of Kentucky Very Happy

well, if it was a cédille the "hook" would be turned the other way.

Nothing french? Well, uh, maybe her sister is sitting in the backwoods smoking.. With a beret on.. eating a croissant..singing Edith Piaf? no? ok. Sad

Blog update

Quote:
Finally caught up on my sleep. Mostly been cooling my heels around here, showing Tricia's picture around. People haven't really been willing to talk, so I'm starting to think that she's either been here.

I guess I might just look too crazy. Maybe it's that I'm all scared looking, or something. I don't know.

Which reminds me. We've been doing this without any pictures of Trish. In my panic I didn't grab one, so I couldn't get it scanned in.

Jane had one, so there's a picture around. Have any of you seen ( her? )

I was checking out the picture again, and Jane was picking at it a bit. She said the letters were, as follows:

e b u i q b è l h i t o

I'm starting to get a little uncertain about all of this mess. Maybe I was wrong in coming here in the first place...

Then again the note was obviously... something. A clue of what's going on.

And the one after that were someone deciphered it to be bibliothèque. This is sort of bizzare. Why French? This whole thing is starting to be a little disjointed.

She already said she was going to do that in her last post.

This may be obvious, but I'm going to say it just in case. That library is real. It is not in game. Do not email or call that library asking for Tricia. That's not directed at you personally tipsila, I just want to make sure that we don't get the PMs in trouble by harassing OOG establishments.

Sorry, that blog post wasn't there last night before I went to bed, and I checked here before there this morning. Embarassed

Yes, it's obvious, and I certainly hope that wasn't directed at me. It really isn't up to any of us to tell other players how to play a game.

Picture change?

Didn't see it posted here, but on her blog she mentions that the picture of her sister 'morphed' after it was posted? Also that " I thought this place was secure "
blog post

And there you see the notes that she is going to the library.
Looks like we need to watch her blog more, she even provided the letters from the image.

Well, we know one thing : whomever messed with the picture, likes OSS! If you open up the picture, look at the properties, under comments : "Created with The GIMP"

I went looking hoping there was a clue buried in the properties, but I guess not. I'm not really sure what this means though. Other than screwing with the color values, what does this picture tell us?

It feels like no clues are leading anywhere.. I'm getting a little frustrated with this. Rolling Eyes

I'm absolutely no wiz at pic manipulation and such, so I don't know if it's obviously explainable or not, but there are some weird markings when you zoom in on the picture.

Probably nothing though.

Thought I should give you guys a head's up...that's me that wrote the comment about what her sister might have been studying (rock_star_mom). Just a player. Before I confused anyone. Very Happy

Semi-Lurking for now, but my interest is definitely peaked...
I also shamelessly offer up my 11 year old son's fountain of knowledge about Supernatural. He's like a Savant when it comes to that show. I watch, but he absorbs.

That's a good idea, wish I had thought of it. Tanya's response though looks as if she's not ready to tell us though. D'oh!

Well, I posted again, telling her to ask her professors and someone in the library if she left anything behind. <shrugs> Maybe it'll lead somewhere...maybe not.
