[SPEC] The Glyph is the ARK so AR must be AI from inside.... or something close to that. I know people have assumed that AR is "something" from inside the African Ark, but I've been starring at that new screensaver for too long, and I noticed the Glyph, with the new "lunar phase" map under it was ARK itsself.
thoughts?

Im pretty sure the Ark is an actual place, where everything inside was safe from the Halos' pulses.
But how did you come to the conclusion that the Glyph with the Lunar chart under it is the Ark? Or what? Im a bit confused.

Located this list of forerunner symbols that someone decyphered. Not sure if it is helpful.
I believe the symbol for Installation 7 should be rotated so the circle is to the east.

I think Darkhuman is right, at the end of the announcement trailer, you see what we presume is the Arc "firing" something, if you take a look at the image with the glyph, and compare it with how the Arc would look from a straight up arial shot, with the pillars that were rising out at the end of the trailer video compressed back into the Arc, it seems like it would look the same...

Yeah, that's exactly what the ark looks like just before it opens.

I still believe that we have yet to see the ark.
I think that what is commonly believed to be the ark is actually just a sort of...teleporter? to the actual ark.
More proof of this (I think) in the Halo 3 E3 trailer....
I believe what you see on the horizon there is the outline of the actual Ark, and that it is an installation like the Halos, out in space. Perhaps even concealed within our moon, and the "ark" on Earth is something frees it...

I just started to doubt myself, and it looks like I was right to. Took another look at the first trailer, and a close look at the machine at the end. While they ave similarities to the glyph picture, I no long think that they are one and the same. Take a look, tell me what you think...
Edit: theory above would coincide with the "shield world" possibility, and why the machine fires up into the sky, even though it would be activated differently from the one in Ghosts of Onyx, but then again, it may be an entirely different machine.

Has it been decided whether or not the large structure in the E3 trailer (pics posted by Awhite2490 above) is on Earth or not? I believe that there's no way that could possibly be Earth. Having a huge structure like that appear on our planet... how? Out of the Earth's crust? I'm no scientist, but I think the effects that would have on the atmosphere would be nothing short of disastrous.

It's been established -- I can never remember where when I need to -- that the E3 Trailer IS the Ark, and IS on Earth. I think the confirmation was in the Halo Graphic Novel, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I am positive that I recently re-discovered it, and said to myself "you know, we should really stop debating whether that was the ark, because it says so right here in official bungie material."

I just checked the Halo Graphic Novel and it does indeed confirm that the Ark is on earth, and it's in or around New Mombassa. Specifically, a covenant elite talks about securing access to the Ark in one of the comics.
Granted, there's not a picture of the E3 trailer in the Halo Graphic Novel, with a big sign saying "this huge structure here is the Ark," but nonetheless I think we can put all speculation about this to bed. The Halo Graphic Novel is canon; it confirms the presence of the Ark in or around New Mombassa, and the E3 trailer shows a massive forerunner structure in or around New Mombassa. It's the Ark.

Thanks for clearing that up, I just wasn't sure. I'm probably one of the few people here who hasn't, uhhhh... read a single... Halo-related.... novel.

There's others who haven't read the novels? I thought I was the only one!
I don't feel isolated anymore.

You're not the only one not sure; we've all done it. Heck, I've read the darn thing and I had forgotten about it. The Halo Graphic Novel was actually a short collection of comics. I'm pretty sure there are even fewer people that have read it than have read the novels.

Well, I'm afraid I have to defend my theory...
You see, it may be confirmed that the Covenant BELIEVE the Ark is on the Earth, but that is quite different from the Ark actually being on Earth. I think it is quite possible that the Covenant has mistaken the "ark" as the entrance/teleporter to the actual Ark.
