Unless they wanted to portray Coney Island and not have to do CGI or build models and sets. On the supposed shoe-string budget (which I'm still not sure I buy), it might be cheaper to just send a small crew to do establishment shots in the real place. Plus, even if it were being done CGI, they have to have real vid/pics to base the recreation upon. I remember when the guys who made Tony Hawk games came to Philadelphia for a few days just to film punks skateboarding around Love Park, which eventually became a level in one of their games.

if you are in new york, go down broadway by canal street (which is where 401 braodway is) and you will see lots of trailers and film crews. im very interested in this movie as well so i wouldnt make up something like this.

but someone posted, there are plenty of movies being filmed in NY so it could be a coincidence.

they film lots of things down there, all the time, including Law and Order, although that is usually more near City Hall.. but i see Cloverfield... hmmm anyone up for a field trip?? LMAO

 		Well, if the film crew ever happens to park under the Empire State Building to do some shooting, I'll be there with camera in hand, since I work directly across the street from that towering monstrousity of a skyscraper. And, really, they could be shooting just about anywhere at any time. That's not to say I wouldn't jump at the opprotunity if I happen to notice or hear about it, but the island is a big place, despite what people see about it on TV.

Secondary note: Remember the Godzilla movie? They took shots for that movie all OVER the friggen city. Any big NYC based blockbuster will have camera crews hopping and skipping all over the place for shots. The chance of running into one is slim.

 		"It's Alive" would be a terrific name for the movie. It's even one of the lines from the trailer (It's alive, it's huge!).
