[SPEC] Things I noticed

I have been trying to catch up with all of this but 236 pages is a lot of reading (every interesting though). I just wanted to point out some things that I thought of when I saw the trailer.

When I first saw this in the movie theatre and I had no idea what it was (at first I thought it was going to be a commerical for some product or new TV show) I thought it was very odd one of Rob's friends mentioned that he still owed him 11 dollars. I thought to myself "11 dollars? that doesn't make any sense." I can see saying someone owes you 10 bucks or 20 bucks or that they just owe you some money but where did he pull 11 from? Or it could just be that he owes him 11 bucks and I'm crazy Smile

Another thing I have been thinking about is that everyone keeps trying to figure out what the photos mean but when I watched the tralier again it struck me that there were SO MANY Photos in the first place. On the frig, in the "We'll Miss You" banner (who has time to do that!?!) then there is the camcorder and at least 2 cameras and then the photos on the website. Maybe it has to do more with why there are so many photos instead of what is in them. Just a thought because I don't know where that philosophical discusion would lead.

This whole thing is making my brain hurt and I know as soon as someone else figures something out I am going to wonder how I missed such an obvious clue.

Keep up the brainstorming - we'll figure it out.

[edit - added the appropriate game tag - kona]

(I saw this posted in the main thread, so I think this was intended as a reply and not a new thread, mistakes happen; should we lock this? -- catherwood)

Theories and Facts
Cool

Okay, here are a few facts in the video:

First, watch closely as the camera pans towards the pillar of fire. in the background near the horizon, you see a second mushroom cloud just forming or maybe it's just that far off...
That means there are probably two 'creatures....
Also, some people are assuming Rob and the guy at the end of the video are the same. obviusoly, this isn't true... just watch the video a few times and you'll see why..

Now for sepculation...
Facts by other people:
1. Supposedly, in the smoke somewhere, you can see the shape of a giant T-Rex...
2. The roar, the first one, has a definent inhale then exhale as it makes noise ( that is tru, not spec!)..my speculation on that is it was creating the explosion on the exhale, the one in the background that's barely vissible, or maybe not...
3."It's alive' It's huge!" The word emphasis seems to be on it's huge, which means whatever isn't supposed to be alive is, but more over, it's huge!

my own spec plus other random facts...

I think this could be another Godzilla movie. Think about it. Godzilla, in the American make, had babies, right???? That would explain the multiple creature theory, right? it would also explain the fire, the inhale exhale of the roar ( That's how Godzilla created his fire!), the 'alive and 'its huge', Godzilla(s) are/were supposed to be dead and they weren't nearly as big in the first movie...that explains that...which would also explain how big the fireball was....believe it!

Godzilla wins

It'd be funny, but none of the clues really point to that... they actually could go with godzilla

At this point, Godzilla would be the only thing that would really make sense.

To quote Morgan Freeman, in Se7en...

"If this thing is the Devil...i mean if it's Satan himself, then maybe, just maybe, it'll meet up with about half of our expectations." (paraphrased)

Anyway...

The thing that stood out to me was the "It's alive! It's huge!". That struck me as odd when i was watching it in the theatre too. It seems unusual that someone would specify that it's both ALIVE and HUGE...implying whatever it is would or should normally be inanimate (or expected to be, such as a plant) and considerably smaller.

I would bet money that there are two of these things.

Now interestingly, supposedly there was some magazine article where one of the people involved with the movie said that "it's alive! It's huge!" line was very, very important. That it was some kind of clue.

I'll go find the video and link it to show you what i mean, it's one of the dude Nightowl's Cloverfield vids so it wont be hard to find.

Ploys

This kinda funny, but I read a post about the team saying it's nota Godzilla movie which only makes me think it is because with any arg/viral marketing suck as this, they tell you anything ot throw you off. Godzilla is god, but I am seriuosly thinking we're right.

And here we go, as promised.

It starts after the other two guys go off and the main dude comes back on. He says that some news website called "Nine News" (looks like an ABC network insignia on it) reports this. It's from some source within the film crew (take that for what you will) and supposedly the creature is "organic".

I'm leaning towards a plant of somekind, myself. Most people dont think of plants as alive, and consider them small. Most people do not denote "living" with plantlife, per se. Seems reasonable to me. But i'ms till rooting for Godzilla! Wink But what i'm thinking is like an alternate ending for Little Shop of Horrors where Audre II goes on a rampage King Kong style as a giant plant monster.

PlantvsGodzilla
Godzilla still wins

While a plant would be cool and original, nothing much points to it... even a giant, alive plant can't roar and create an eight story fire ball.

Anyone check out my double fire ball theory? watch as camera pans towards explosion and watch horizon carefully, you can just make out another explosion...

The plant is already a giant monster, defying every law of physics, i dont see why roaring and causing explosions would be so hard. Razz Besides we dont know it CAUSED the explosion, like fire breath or something...it may have stomped on a gas tanker for all we know.

I agree i think it's more than one, perhaps a group of these things. One was already chasing the people in the street when the other threw the SOL head at them.

Okay
Kick it

Lets check it... is there anything near the SOL that could cause an explosion that frickin' huge? 4 reel, lets figure it out.

 NOT GODZILLA

Sony owns the rights to Godzilla, not Paramount.

They already have a Godzilla movie in the works, set for 2009 release.

Let it go, this is dead... R.I.P.

Take-out at China Fun, a cab ride, Rob lost a $50 bet and only had $39 on him, running gag between friends...plenty of $11 reasons. There may be an underlying reason for the specificity of the number 11, but the reason it sounds weird to us is that we naturally count in 5's and 10's. If we were born with 11 fingers, that's how we'd count.

Oh yeah, ferry ride to visit the Statue of Liberty...$11.50. Smile

I'm fairly sure you need a quick refresher on the meaning of the word "fact".

I will say that not one thing you have listed as a "fact" is correct. Some of it interesting speculation. Some of it is just flat-out wrong.

And you wasted all that space to point to the "debunked so hard its kids will be born with headaches" Godzilla thing? Come on. If you're going to waste our time, at least give us a decent payoff at the end.

Anyone check out my double fire ball theory? watch as camera pans towards explosion and watch horizon carefully, you can just make out another explosion...

You Tube some explosions... a fireball shot down on a (possibly hostile) crowd of people would only send debris in one specific direction, opposite the side of the force. The explosion that the group views from the roof send out debris is at least four distinct directions, thus implying that whatever this is, it is a massive sort of ground explosion which would explain the large debris hurling through the air. Or it could have been shot from an unknown source above. Has anyone considered this theory.
Taking into consideration these 5 things......
1. No shock wave from the explosion therefore it is not man-made.
2. The direction of flying debris indicates that whatever this is "shooting" straight up (War of the Worlds sort of entrance) or shooting straight down (like if this were a giant fire-breathing eagle that was being shot at and got POed at the bullets tickling him so he shot down from a few hundred feet in the air) those are the only things that could send debris of that size flying with such little effort.
3. In Godzilla I believe people knew something was up (or in Jurassic Park, if you will) because things started to shake, like you would imagine giant footsteps would. There are no tremors that would simulate a giant beast walking.
4. I'm no expert here, but this sounds to me like some sort of flying pre-historical/demonic beast (something from World of Warcraft) because you may notice that the first roar sends a tremor which means that the sound was stationary and firmly planted like a perched bird. That would allow for strong vibrations to be produced. The second and thirds roars do not shake the earth like first, so my theory is that whatever type of "animal" this is has just left its stationary/grounded position to fight/destroy from the sky so when it roared the sound would travel in a spherical direction, thus not producing large vibrations if any because the sound would ricochet off objects and not travel through them.
5. Even if it were a Godzilla or a plant creature for that matter fire is still hot and does eventually destroy everything (unless I'm wrong and this is some 33 ft tall demon), so a creature of any size wouldn't be hidden from view, make such a catastrophic explosion, and roar that loud unless it were flying.

What do you think, this is just a hunch.
