http://cloverfieldparasite.blogspot.com/2007/07/how-poster-got-out.html

this is like third-hand information, but this blogger mentions a woman named Luanna Jo Brown who was purportedly the one who acquired the posters and was selling them at Frank & Sons. could this be the same "luwho12345" that was posting in this thread bragging about how he/she was the first person to break the "Monstrous" title?

News Update

Entertainment Weekly posted an article online that includes a very clear shot of the poster at:

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20048197,00.html

Note that there is no title ("Monstrous") on this poster.

more than one monster

how plausable is it that one or more monster did the damage, asuming one went into the city and another could be heading out hence the recent damage to SOL head? but then again the trailer suggest it was cut of early on but could a second hit to the SOL have happened as one of the monsters escapes?

just asking if its plausable?

I think if you look at the clouds at the right side of the EW.com image you will see that this is a cropped version of the final poster that is seen ant the poster shop.

Later

@ Nighthawk

In that part of NY (Battery Park) the river is right next to the buildings there. Its looks a little hokie, but its believeable if you've ever been there.

"When in doubt, Google it!". No really google it, you'll see.

Definitely looks like the "final" poster is cropped down from that. Check out the positioning of the date. You can also see the SOL platform in the EW picture.

It isn't cropped out.

I think it's fair to say that's the 'source' image, given the statue's pedestal and base can be seen just at the bottom of the pic whilst it's absent on the Frank & Sons poster.

If I had to cite a reason for the top being cropped, it could be to prevent title leakage if 'MONSTROUS' isn't the title as implied by the article about that woman leaking it... but that's just fan speculation and I don't think anyone should really use it as a legit reason.

But I'm certainly intrigued as to what happens with the greatly mentioned and anticipated announcement following the release of that story of the stall owner.

Can still be Monstrous...

They may have not wanted the magazines leaking the title of the movie before ComicCon so they provided them with the poster without the title on it.

the poster also now show concentric ripples just the other side of the SOL, suggesting it has just dived into the water and then swam over to manhattan (the monster not the SOL), which to be captured in one shot would have to be damn fast. creative liscense again Razz

Ebay item - probably nothing

Was searching Ebay to see if anything was there (slusho t-shirts, clues, anything) and there was nothing with "slusho", but when I searched with 1-18-08, there was an item of headless Statue of Liberty. Probably a fake, someone trying get money out of the buzz for this movie, but you guys should check it out nonetheless.
