1. Please use the Search function.
When people refuse to look before posting "I don't have time to read, I hope this hasn't been said before, etc" that just adds to the repeated posts that creates the extra long threads that discourages folks from reading them in the first place.
2. We encourage polite conversation. The TOS for uF specifically points out that flaming and personal attacks are not allowed. Asking someone to use the Search key is NOT attacking. It's facilitating.

Thank you.

I'm guilty of being in such a hurry I don't use search 100 % of the time. Embarassed

But I'll be darned if Kona isn't sexy when she puts on that mod hat... Wink

Actually the monster and SOL were getting it on, but then the SOL got frigid and did not want to speak, so in the monsters rage, he ripped her head off. When the head is thrown, you hear him yell in anger, telling SOL, TOLD YOU SO!

This all seems reminiscent of the Simpson's Episodes which led to and subsequently solved the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" mystery. The poducers went to a lot of trouble creating false endings for the production crew to animate and voice simply to prevent the real ending from being leaked. In the end, two completely different endings were produced, one where Wayland Smithers shot Burns to stop him from stealing the lollipop from Maggie, and the real one where the gun falls out of Burns' holster and goes off after landing in Maggie's lap, then falling under the car seat.

Back on point, we've seen at least 2 posters: the "Monstrous" poster which has the date on the bottom edge; and the textless version of the same image but without the title and without Paramount's logo, which is used by EW. Since EW has a different version than the one we originally discovered, it means they were given an officially released image to use, and that the title was intentionally left out because it was in TBA status. The one we originally found should then be considered a leak since these include the title and Paramount copyright information, and were intended for promotional sale only after the title was revealed. There would be no official acknowledgement or use of the leak by EW or other news sources that were given the textless version because it would violate disclosure agreements they would have to sign to get the "exclusive" imagery and any future "exclusive" imagery they were promised. You know, the "Release it when we tell you, how we tell you, or we cut you off" clause.

So I'd give it a 80% chance the title is Monstrous.

Sorry, that 8 was a typo. I meant 0%

Magazine and press are given the images in advance so they can actually edit it in to their news stories. But since J. J. wants exclusive control over when the movie announcement is made, he would lose control of that if it's branded on every photo sent to the media days earlier.

So it doesn't surprise me that the media image is lacking; he wanted it that way.

If you look between the SOL's shoulders, there are spikes coming up, as though the head sank into the shoulders. But the head flies across Manhattan. What's up?

Confirmed by Mr. Abrams himself: the movie title is NOT Monstrous.

"You think we'd call it Monstrous? No…"

Hi John,

We have just received the poster you wanted! Although, it is not one

The trail in the water is from the monster(s) going toward Manhattan, very fast since the trail is still there, there's still debris falling from SOL and the buildings are toasted. The wake from a large tanker dissipates pretty rapidly in New York harbor, so (leaving aside artistic license), this thing got from SOL to Battery Park, more or less, in about 30 seconds. Also, the claw marks on the back of SOL are pretty much the same as those on the building on the left, which is a good clue as to the size. I would guess about 40 stories, beating Godzilla by about 10 stories.

It didn't have to climb up or jump the SOL; it could easily reach it from the ground level of Liberty Island.

It may also be artistic license, but either the beast deliberately took off the head (possibly indicating intelligence), or it's from Jersey since that's the direction it's going. It's also very wide since it looks like it took out buildings on both sides of the street just by walking/runnnig past them. Since there's no report on the news of Jersey devastation, then I would guess the hit was deliberate and this thing has some intelligence or mission.

Finally, isn't it awfully bright for 12:36-12:48 AM? Only a small part of the city is on fire, so that wouldn't account for the whole sky being that bright (again, possible artistic license). The SOL has a wood frame inside, but it's not on fire. Does this mean that the monster has its own light source?

my concern is that, as you say, the artist may have taken liberties with the scale of the monster. so i'm trying to resist using the poster to theorize too much about the creature in question.

this is like third-hand information, but this blogger mentions a woman named Luanna Jo Brown who was purportedly the one who acquired the posters and was selling them at Frank & Sons. could this be the same "luwho12345" that was posting in this thread bragging about how he/she was the first person to break the "Monstrous" title?
Dude... has anyone noticed that the OP has changed the title of this thread a couple of times already? She must be in some deep ish...

Dont know exactly what's going on there, but I split the thread so s/he can rename to their hearts content their own thread, while we have our discussion here.
