Not much info here other than a few vague comments, but these appear to be the personal myspace pages of a couple of the actors. Please don't harass them using this info, since there's no reason to think that they are IG at all, this is for informational purposes only:

Jessica Lucas (aka Lily):

Michael Stahl-David (aka Rob): http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=174622954

Good find!

Jessica said she is working on a movie called amusement, so to save time speculating -- it's not Cloverfield:

Coincidence?? Could be nothing...

I got the idea to take the seemingly arbitrary number of friends that each slusho 7 accepted, and tried to apply it as a cipher to some of the text on their myspace page. On Lily's page, for example, she accepted 97 friends, so I took every 9th word, then every 7th word out of her first blog about Paris Je'Taime just to see if anything would happen. Oddly, something curious did come out of this...

The first six words pulled out are: in, human, which, the, and, soon - nonsense, apparently.

However, the next few words are:
I came by some names Sant or Twyker

The rest seemed to be gibberish: well, Jason, screen, there, starring, a, class, the, out, Alexander, short, broken-French, than, much, around, one, took, etc. (starring a short Jason Alexander??)

Could this just be a coincidence? I tried the same pattern on some other things on that page, but didn't come up with much. None of those names mentioned yielded anything when I briefly searched, but its still kind of weird and very House of Leaves-esque.

In any event, the number of friends they accepted seems almost too random - and we know they had offers for more, but stopped accepting at a certain point, right? So maybe those numbers mean something?

LenaDia = Pride "I'm the next big thing in fashion design, and it's just a matter of time before the rest of the world figures that out" and the High Fashion thing.

Probaly wrong, but ill make a stretch here. Beth could be anger, for the sole reason that she has the word rage right on her myspace. (in that music video)

Hey, good enough for this line of silly speculation. So be it:

JJ Hawkins "Hawk" = Sloth
Jamie Lascano = Lust
LenaDia = Pride "I'm the next big thing in fashion design, and it's just a matter of time before the rest of the world figures that out" and the High Fashion thing.
Beth = Anger, for the sole reason that she has the word rage right on her myspace. (in that music video)

Interesting train of thought.

But wouldn't LenaDia be closer to "greed" -- seems to be a very materialistic fashionista....
...and Lil closer to "pride"...she's kinda stuck on herself...
Hud seems ideal for "gluttony," given his obsession with the Snickers incident and lots of food references amongst his ramblings...
...which would leave "envy" for Rob -- don't know what that's about, but he seems like a very low-key guy, so maybe he envies the lifestyles of everyone else around him, including his friends...

Just to clarify - when I said that Jamie was a glutton for (alcoholic) beverages, I wasn't thinking of the 7 deadly sins, although that is an interesting possibility. I was actually thinking of Noriko, in the Slusho History: she was a glutton for tasty beverages. That's the only connection I had in mind. Again, though, the 7 sins angle is worth keeping in mind.

There do seem to be a lot of overt drinking references on the myspace pages. Lena's profile pic has her drinking from a straw. Beth's old profile pic also had her w/a drink and a straw (and, there's that pic w/her drinking from 3 straws at once). Rob has the blog entry, "7 empty bottles of beer" (apparently, he couldn't drink just six), and Hawk "chugged a Sluhso" in his blog.

And, "Hud" is named after a river - as he points out in his profile quote.

I don't know what this means, if anything, except the obvious general connection to Slusho.

Where is everybody?

So was there a vacation we didn't know about? Everyone has disappeared. The last people on were Jaime and Hud, on the 21st. I understand the weekend passing, but I would think they would come back and post about events that occurred on Saturday or something...anything. It seems like they have commented on each others pages, or even signed on in forever. The myspace thing isn't very hard to update (like 1-18-08.com is), its just a simple blog entry. Yet nothing. Getting impatient...

...Welcome to the "game", NYC5
Confused

The absolutely breakneck pace of this advertising campaign reached a peak in its first few weeks, were you were lucky if you got one minor update per week.

I hesitate to say they might be overestimating our abilities and that there really is more to find-- if you've got the entire internet unable to get to the next big breakthrough, you're just not being realistic.
Although, God knows that could be one reason they haven't been on.

I should have been a Marketing Major

I would love to know the Marketing plan for this movie. Less then 4 months before its release date and no (known) title yet? This has to be extremely unusual for any movie, even one as secretive as this.

Yeah, I get the whole "shrouded in mystery" campaign, but at some point there should be some OOG promotional stuff being put out by Paramount or Bad Robot I would think. I've not seen any print or online interviews with the cast, director or JJ himself (other then one e-mail in July debunking Ethan Haas and a 3 minute talk at Comic-con). I don't know how the guy operates so maybe it's normal or how he wants to promote it, but outside the relatively small online community, this movie has pretty much faded from everyone's minds. None of my friends know anything about 1-18-08 or Cloverfield …they've forgotten the trailer they saw in early July. I realize this doesn't mean much in September and as long as your movie gets a buzz a month or so before, that's all that matters.

Snakes on a Plane proved the online community cannot support a movie once it's released so I hope the producers take note and dribble a few more tidbits soon…I won't hold my breath. Rolling Eyes

So sorry, this was way off topic...won't happen again!

No, I think the marketing is on point. It may not seem that way for ARG enthusiasts who, when not getting any new substantial information, participate in ten page threads analyzing a character's bladder infection, but it's perfect thus far. By throwing the internet audience a bone very early, they've cornered that market. By throwing the general public nothing, they recognize the short attention span of your average consumer.

I'll put it this way. The reason Snakes on a Plane wasn't successful was because it only targeted the internet audience. That can't build a film on its own. As of now, the internet is still abuzz over Cloverfield and someone said the general public has forgotten about the trailer? Yes, they have short attention spans, this is understood. But building hype like a normal movie a month or two before the film is released, with a new trailer, an official title, and some preview clips will rectify that. More than that, it'll have the internet audience interested again, and further build on that one section of the audience.

Internet geeks + average consumers = a big box office.

This is JJ Abrams we're talking about. Not to blow smoke up his ass, but he's a fairly well known mainstream entity. Do you honestly think JJ is going to throw us a bone every week knowing that the internet audience only counts for a small fraction of the audience? No. And if he did, then this film would be an 'internet movie' plain and simple and you can ask Samuel L. Jackson how effective a strategy that is. For anyone complaining about the marketing, please give it a rest. There's a little over three months until the movie is released. A full scale campaign is usually launched a month or two before the film's release in keeping with the "out of sight, out of mind" fear that most companies have when marketing to the general public.

Internet geeks and ARG enthusiasts (not to put down either), like your average consumer, need things right here and now. Otherwise they'll whine on ARG forums about there not being anything new, how they're not interested in the movie anymore while still replying to every new thread thereafter, how marketing sucks, how Bad Robot doesn't know what they're doing, and how shitty an ARG is when it was never announced that 1-18-08 was an ARG. (thus being unable to discern the differences between an 'ARG' and 'Viral Marketing' which, sadly, not many people seem to be able to do)

No matter how 'sick' of the film these internet geeks are, my money says they'll go and see the film once it hits theaters. You can't always get what you want. Sadly, most of us learned this when we were five years old when mommy wouldn't buy us that really cool Police Academy toy house. Even more sadly, most of us learned it and neglect it much to the displeasure of those who aren't actually spoiled brats. You decide which is the lesser of two evils.

Spoiled a good point....

See you make a good point about the marketing campaign and its purpose, to entice the online supporters and wait to intrigue the general public until release draws closer. But then you go on to make it personal, which invites harsh returns...I'm going to reply with an honest response. I believe JJ had an idea to make a monster movie with the style he hasn't seen in awhile. Now because of his previous track record (lost) and his use of arg's to entertain the online world, when he begins a website that changes, and throws out clues to begin an onion which seems ready to be peeled, the online public is going to expect an arg like before. So when you call people spoiled, it would be wrong. People who are given something time and time again, learn to expect it when it seems its going to happen again. So next time, think it over before making people decide if they are "spoiled" or not, cause maybe your just new and didn't have any expectations.

Oh and by the way, you were the only kid playing with Police Academy toys...

Robby left HUD a comment today:

"That's pretty cool, what you are doing with people's comic book characters. Am I allowed to play, or do am I still banned from the discussion until I read The Watchmen? "

Just letting everyone know.

You should have stopped after the first two paragraphs (which I thought were insightful)...after that, what the hell?

You sound like a bitter jerk-off who thinks he's getting away with a vile attack by leaving out personal pronouns. Do everyone a favor, stay off the internet and play with your Police Academy doll house if you're going to use this forum to try to belittle others with insulting remarks.

Jamie & Beth losing friends?

I wrote down the number of friends each of the slusho 7 had a few days ago because I was working on that other crazy theory I posted above. On Monday, Jamie had 675 friends. Now she has 672. Beth had 101, now she has 100. Are people dumping her or is she dumping them for some reason? I guess people might be getting annoyed with the lack of action and quitting, but this seems a bit odd.

EDIT: I guess it could be myspace issues again... right now Beth's front page shows 101 friends, but when you click on "show all friends", only shows 100. I guess this is what TOM was talking about in his blog titled "what's going on with friend counts?" Of course I tried to click on that blog post and got an unexpected error. Myspace blows.

New Comment from Beth

New exchange between Rob & Beth:

Rob says:
Quote:
Hey I'm gonna be in your building tomorrow. We're doing a presentation for a classical radio station that has offices there (I can barely contain my excitement. At least its a better client than the stray cat adoption agency). Anyways, how 'bouts I take you to lunch?

Beth responds:
Quote:
Yay! I'm so excited! You certainly don't have to 'take' me, but I'd love to join you for lunch! Anything to avoid another meal with Hungry Helen. And my boss is out of town this week so I should be able to steal away for longer than normal. Call me at the office tommorrow!

Rob replies:
Quote:
Ok pefect. So I'll see you tomorrow then. Let's go to a deli so I can have your pickle.

Was Rob trying to ask her out??? (And getting subtly rejected??)
