I have gone thru all seven of the myspace accounts looking at their friends list, Some of the friends are on all 7 accounts. Some had comments going way back so they can not be part of it. There was one female(natalie) that is on 6 of them. Her profile set to private so could not check her out. She is showing from Michigan though, not NY. You would think Robbie would have at least one friend from work on his list of friends?

I know personally that I don't let people from work be my friends on myspace. That adds a level of "closeness" that i don't see being productive in the workplace. I could be an exception, but that's how i think of it, and would atleast give a reason why he wouldn't have work friends. (that and it would just add another myspace page for the PMs of this game to work on)

Poor Rob, He has 3 months to make his move on her. Maybe if he gives her some slusho, she will be very happy and give it up.

I suspect Rob won't have the balls to make his move on Beth at all between now and 1/18/08.

If they somehow "fall in love" between now and then, do you guys really think Rob would willingly take a job overseas? Don't you think that one or both of them might be devastated by being separated by a hemisphere? Look at the trailer -- do either Rob or Beth look sad at all? Certainly not Beth, but Rob, maybe...and that could well be because (again) he never mustered the guts to tell Beth how he felt about her before taking the Japan job.

Plus, from a writer's standpoint, you don't want to have character drama take place offstage. I suspect that Rob will wait til January 18, 2008 before telling Beth what he really feels about her. While a giant monster is about to lay the stomp down on both of them.

And that's pretty sad, when you think about it. Poor Rob!

They might be dating from now until January, but not seriously, he finally gets her into bed and either.....a) shes a man and he needs to escape the embarrasment or b) they have a bad sexual encounter where either 1) her family is the mafia and they try and track him down for dirtying their family or 2) her friends and family come down on him for coming on a bit too strong after a few to many slushos. Razz

Back to WQXR....

On my way home from work, I listen to that radio station, when I get into range (I work in Trenton, and travel North toward home). I also listen to a local jazz station (my music choices are eclectic, that's for sure) when they start playing opera (not a big fan), but, for the sake of the ARG, or whatever this is, I could listen and see if anything out of the ordinary is broadcast as far as advertising goes. Normally, they have "high brow" ads - new plays, the Tempur-Pedic bed, expensive watches/jewelry, etc., but something new and exotic from Japan may make the airwaves. Again, though, with supporting a stray cat adoption agency, doesn't sound like Rob's resume has been looked at by Tagruato yet (or else he hasn't received the call for an interview yet). That may come within the next month or so, though...

I doubt JJA will be making any fake advertisment anytime soon. Not if the ASA have anything to do with it. They will come down on him with legalities before he even tried.

Well it *could* happen... they did fake Hanso TV ads during the Lost Experience last year. But somehow I suspect the budget of this ARG (or whatever it is) isn't quite up to that level, so I think it'd be unlikely.

By ASA, do you mean the Advertising Standards Authority? I'm not sure there's anything similar in the US - as long as JJ & Co. pay for the air time and aren't cursing, then they could probably get on the air somewhere.

yes the Advertising Standards Authority.

Read up on their site and anything misleading, selling a fake product or indeed selling a fake product with unreal effects is not allowed, for reasons whcih are common sense.

TV you can get away with if you show the tv program you are advertising somewhere within it, then thats fine, with Radio its harder to get away with.

Okay then...

.. that's good, so I don't have to suffer through opera! There are some arias that I can stand, but most of them I just can't - no offense to any opera buffs out there, but that's just my personal preference.

Id say they are brothers, or at least cousins.

In my opinion, one of the best ideas for why Rob would take a job in Japan is because something happens between him and a friend, whether it be a bad sexual encounter, an arguement, or something else. It's definitely one of the more plausible reasonings.

I know that Rob's skeleton t-shirt has been discussed here already, but I realised something that could either be a reference to the monster's backstory or just a reference to past monsters who inspired the general. I was researching about Edgar Allan Poe and the genre of horror he started. It gave me a link to H. P. Lovecraft. (I can already hear the Cthulhu haters starting to type, but just wait a minute.) His early work, which was more in the style of Poe, is called his "Macabre" stories. When I clicked on Macabre, it took me to a page which says that macabre is a style that deals with death and skeletons. One image that called out to me was this:

It reminded me a bit of Rob's t-shirt. Now, what does this have to do with the monster? Directly, not much. Although the Lovecraft connection could support the "Cthulhu-esque awakened monster theory" which was discussed in the Taguro (if I could ever remember how to spell it) thread, dealing with how the mining could awaken a monster that is like Cthulhu or in a Cthulhu-esque manner. Am I saying "Z0MG!11! A L0V3CRAF7 C0N3CT10N!1! ITS CTHULHU 4 SUR1!!1!"? No. I'm so sure I'm not saying that that I wish I hadn't typed the preceding travesty to grammar, spelling, and the English language in general. All that I am saying is a little "Hey, this sounds like a funny reference" sort of thing. Not trying to go tangent from everything here.
